Chapter 331 Finally, He Got It

Half an hour later, the car stopped downstairs at Chenxing Company.

Su Maiqi, carrying her bag, walked lightly into the Chenxing Jewelry building, her tall figure exuding confidence and vitality.

Gu Tingyu parked the car on the side of the road and watched his wife's figure disappear behind the revolving door, a smile unconsciously creeping onto his lips.

In the past few months, Su Maiqi's radiance at work has made her a completely different person—her confidence, composure, and focused expression have deeply fascinated him.

Back in the driver's seat, Gu Tingyu raised his hand to look at his watch; the hour hand was pointing exactly to ten o'clock.

He sighed softly, started the engine, and drove towards the headquarters of the Gu Group.

Although he has handed over the group's daily operations to Gu Tingxuan, he still needs to personally oversee some decisions and core businesses.

In particular, the progress of several important projects recently cannot be compromised.

"I'll try to finish my work this morning so I can go home and spend some quality time with Xiao Gu Chengze this afternoon," Gu Tingyu thought to himself, a smile involuntarily creeping onto his lips.

Thinking of the little guy's chubby face and giggling laughter, Gu Tingyu felt a warm current surge in his heart.

He turned on the car stereo and found himself humming along to the music without even realizing it.

This man, once known as the "Iceberg CEO" in the business world, seemed to come alive again after the arrival of his son.

As they drove past a traffic light, Gu Tingyu's thoughts involuntarily drifted towards Gu Tingxuan.

During this time, Gu Tingxuan's attitude towards him was lukewarm, polite, restrained, and distant. But Gu Tingyu didn't care.

He had long been mentally prepared that once he sent Gu Tianyu and Shen Wanjun to prison, Gu Tingxuan, as their son, would never be close to him again.

"At least he can manage the company stably," Gu Tingyu thought to himself. "I don't expect him to be grateful to me."

It's unclear what Grandpa said to Gu Tingxuan, but at least during this time, Gu Tingxuan has been diligent and focused on his work, quickly becoming familiar with the company's various operations and performing admirably.

"At this rate, I'll be able to make a clean getaway soon," Gu Tingyu thought, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Then I can wholeheartedly accompany Chengze."

The car smoothly entered the underground parking garage of the Gu Group. Gu Tingyu turned off the engine, got out of the car, and walked briskly towards the elevator.

The elevator went straight to the top floor. Gu Tingyu stepped out of the elevator and walked towards his office.

Upon seeing him, the secretary quickly stood up to greet him: "Good morning, Mr. Gu!"

"Good morning," Gu Tingyu nodded, his voice much gentler than usual. "Is there anything that needs to be done today?"

"The Board's quarterly report has been prepared and needs your review," the secretary handed over a folder. "Final proposals for three other projects also await your approval."

"Okay, I understand." Gu Tingyu took the folder. "Please inform Assistant Mo to come to my office in half an hour."

Entering the president's office, Gu Tingyu hung his suit jacket on a hanger, sat down at the large desk, and began to review the documents.

He was very efficient at his work, with focused and sharp eyes, and finished reading and annotating the board report in less than half an hour.

Just as he was preparing to work on the project proposal, there was a soft knock on the door.

"Please come in," Gu Tingyu said without looking up.

The door was pushed open, and Mo Yan walked in, holding a tablet computer.

He was wearing a dark suit as always, with a calm and reserved expression.

"You've come at the right time," Gu Tingyu said, putting down the documents in his hand. "I was just about to discuss the progress of these projects with you."

Mo Yan nodded and sat down in the chair opposite the desk.

After quickly finishing their work discussion, Mo Yan did not leave immediately, seemingly hesitant to speak.

Gu Tingyu keenly sensed his friend's unusual behavior and raised an eyebrow: "What's wrong? Is something the matter?"

Mo Yan cleared his throat hesitantly, then got straight to the point: "Next month, I'd like to ask for a week off."

Gu Tingyu was stunned, and the pen in his hand stopped in mid-air.

Mo Yan almost never takes a vacation, not even on holidays, and he insists on working even when he is sick. Moreover, he is rarely at the company now, and most of the affairs are coordinated and handled by him.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Gu Tingyu asked with some concern, putting down his pen. "The workload has been quite heavy lately. If you're not feeling well, you can rest for a few more days."

Mo Yan shook his head, his eyes flickering slightly, his voice low and firm: "No, I promised Duoduo I'd take her to Disneyland."

Upon hearing this answer, Gu Tingyu was so surprised that he almost spat out the water he had just drunk.

He stared wide-eyed, looking Mo Yan up and down, as if trying to confirm whether the person in front of him was really the serious and self-disciplined Mo Yan.

"What did you say?" Gu Tingyu put down his water glass, his voice filled with disbelief. "You're taking Duoduo to Disneyland? Just the two of you?"

Mo Yan adjusted his posture slightly, looking a little uncomfortable, and his gaze darted away: "No, Mai Rou will be going too."

Gu Tingyu's eyes lit up instantly, and a knowing smile appeared on his lips.

He leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms, and looked at his longtime friend with great interest.

"I see," Gu Tingyu's voice carried a hint of teasing. "Assistant Mo has finally decided to take a break from work and enjoy life."

Mo Yan's ears turned slightly red, but his expression remained professionally calm: "I just promised Duoduo, and I don't want to break my promise."

"Duoduo?" Gu Tingyu raised an eyebrow, his expression somewhat playful.

Mo Yan coughed lightly: "Duoduo had her birthday recently, and I promised her I'd take her to Disneyland as a birthday present."

"Oh?" Gu Tingyu became even more interested. "You and Duoduo get along quite well."

Mo Yan lowered his head, seemingly very seriously organizing the documents on his tablet, his voice barely audible: "Duoduo is a very cute child."

Gu Tingyu couldn't help but laugh out loud: "I know Duoduo is cute, but what I really want to know is, what do you think of Mairou?"

This direct question caught Mo Yan off guard. He looked up, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Mai Rou is a very strong woman," Mo Yan's voice was deep and sincere. "She raised Duo Duo on her own and also founded Rou Lin Workshop, living a very good life."

Gu Tingyu nodded, his eyes filled with approval: "Indeed. Mai Rou has been through so much, yet she still maintains her optimism and kindness; that's truly admirable."

A brief silence fell over the room. Gu Tingyu seemed to be thinking about something before finally speaking: "Alright, leave application approved. Go ahead and enjoy this week."

Mo Yan's eyes lit up, and he stood up to leave.

Gu Tingyu called out to him: "Wait, Mo Yan."

Mo Yan stopped and turned to look at Gu Tingyu.

Gu Tingyu's expression turned serious and sincere: "Mai Rou has already experienced a failed marriage. Both she and Duo Duo are precious. I hope you've really thought this through."

Mo Yan took a deep breath, his gaze meeting Gu Tingyu's firmly: "I know."

Watching Mo Yan leave the office, Gu Tingyu leaned back in his chair, a meaningful smile appearing on his face.

"This kid has finally figured it out."
