Rescuing the Villainous Boss with a Little Dirty Master
Chapter 37 Saving the Villainous Proton 37
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out outside, mixed with panicked cries of "Fourth Prince!"
Those who hadn't yet left all turned their gaze toward the luxurious carriage.
The horses pulling the carriage were kicking their heels in frustration. At the back of the carriage, Dongling Yu was about to climb onto the lowered plank when the horses suddenly became agitated, throwing him and his wheelchair off. He was now pinned to the ground by the wheelchair. The crowd gasped and rushed to his aid.
"Is Your Highness injured anywhere? I will go find a physician immediately!"
Li Lian strode forward, lifted the wheelchair, grabbed his waist, and forcefully placed him back in it. Dongling Yu raised his hand to stop him, his gaze icy; even a beast dared to ride roughshod over him.
"Push me over."
He gestured with his chin toward the front of the carriage, and Li Lian had no choice but to comply. Once the wheelchair had stopped beside the horse, Dongling Yu drew the knife from Li Lian's waist and slashed it hard across the neck. The splattering horse blood covered Li Lian, and his face, hidden beneath the blood, twisted with glee.
"Your Highness the Fourth!"
Someone exclaimed in surprise, trying to stop him, but their voices were shrill from shock. He frowned and tilted his head, seemingly disturbed, but ignored it.
The sudden, excruciating pain made the horse neigh, trying to break free of its restraints, but to no avail. Its wounds multiplied, blood gushing forth, until it finally died on the spot.
It didn't know why, simply because it felt an unbearable stinging pain in its hind legs and wanted to kick them to relieve the discomfort, it was being punished like this. But no one answered it, and no one wanted to answer it; who would care about the death of a horse?
Those present were utterly silent, a chill running through them. The older ones were even sweating profusely and trembling uncontrollably, on the verge of fainting.
The servant beside him quickly helped him up, "Sir, are you alright!"
"Absurd! Absurd! This person is simply... simply..." The voice trailed off, and because of the noise, even the nearest servant couldn't hear it clearly.
"Dongling Yu! What's wrong with you! Do you think this is?!"
As soon as Dong Jingming stepped out of the palace gate, he was stunned by the horrifying scene before him. He recalled the scene of being hit in the face with a bloody figure in front of the Fourth Prince's residence. Looking at the expressions of the crowd, a calculating glint flashed in his eyes.
Dongling Yu casually tossed the bloodstained knife to the ground, turned around, and looked at Dong Jingming. At this moment, he looked as if he had just been pulled out of a pool of blood, with a blood pool under his wheelchair, as if he had broken free of his restraints and crawled out of hell.
"That beast threw me down." He grabbed Li Lian's sleeve to wipe his hands, but when he found they weren't clean, he threw them away in disgust, his voice lazy and nonchalant.
Dong Jingming was about to say something more when he was interrupted by the Qilin Guard beside the King of Dongli.
Upon hearing about the incident at the palace gate, King Dongli ordered that Dongling Yu be brought before him immediately.
"Your Highness, the King invites you."
The ministers were alarmed to see that His Majesty had summoned the Qilin Guard to look for someone. Some optimistically thought he had been called in for a reprimand or severe punishment, but most had grim expressions, their hearts sinking as they watched the blood trails left by the wheelchair as it moved across the ground.
Jiang Heng, who had listened to the entire conversation from inside the carriage, had a gloomy face. This Dongling Yu was indeed a madman. But at this moment, he didn't want to mention that unlucky name any further. He knocked on the carriage and signaled the guards to drive away.
"You worthless wretch! Look at yourself now, where is your former princely demeanor?!"
In the imperial study, King Dongli looked at Dongling Yu covered in blood, the stench almost assaulting his face. Enraged, he grabbed a teacup and threw it at him, but even the flying shards didn't touch Dongling Yu's clothes.
He was panting heavily, and the thought of the countless impeachment memorials that would be presented tomorrow morning sent a sharp pain through his temple. The chief eunuch, Lian An, quickly stepped forward to massage it for him. Lately, the king's headaches had become more and more frequent.
“Father, it was that horse that bullied me and injured my leg first. Are you going to blame me now? If my mother were still alive, she would never have scolded me.”
Upon hearing him mention Consort Li, the King of Dongli paused, fell silent, and then bitterly rebuked him, "I've spoiled you too much!"
"Alright, Your Majesty, I know I was wrong. I won't do it again next time."
Seeing this, Dongling Yu's smile widened. Perhaps because his face was stained with blood, he looked somewhat eerie. It was precisely because of this that the King of Dongli did not take his mockery and malice lightly. Sure enough, mentioning that wretched woman always saved him from punishment; it never failed him.
"When have you ever said that? It was the same at the banquet today. Don't you even consider the occasion before you act recklessly?" King Dongli suddenly remembered something and reprimanded him with a stern face.
"Stop scolding me! I'm going to stink to death! Father, please let me go wash up."
"Get out, get out, just seeing you makes me angry."
Seeing his reckless attitude, King Dongli sent Lian An over to lend a hand and waved him away.
After leaving the Imperial Study, Lian An pushed the wheelchair, leading the man to a side hall. Dongling Yu tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest, humming a tune. Lian An listened closely; it was the song that Consort Li had loved to sing most when she was alive.
He lowered his eyes, settled the man in the hall, and quickly ordered people to help him wash up. After he was clean, he pushed him back to the palace where he used to live before returning to the imperial study.
“Lian An, have I spoiled him too much all these years? How come I can’t see any trace of Qing Li in him?”
King Dongli stared blankly into the void. He hadn't thought of Qingli for a long time. If Dongling Yu hadn't suddenly brought her up today, he would have thought he had long forgotten her.
“Although the Fourth Prince is not like Consort Li, his outspoken nature is exactly the same as His Majesty’s.” Lian An stood behind him, looking down at his back, expressionless, but his tone was smiling, though the Prince of Dongli, who had his back to him, did not notice.
King Dongli shook his head with amusement. That evening, Lian An asked him if he needed anyone to serve him in bed, but perhaps thinking of Qingli that night, he waved his hand and declined. This harem truly has none.
There is no one who can compare to her, and there is no one in this world who can make her linger. He is, Qi Lan the fox is, and even her child is.
Upon returning to the main courtyard of the Fifth Prince's residence, Jiang Heng sent Dong Tinglan away to wash up. After dismissing him, he stopped Zhao Yi in the courtyard and reached out to him.
Zhao Yi clenched his fists behind his back, trying to stuff the box into his sleeve. It was a chain made of gold that his master had instructed him to melt down at the end of the banquet; it could still be put to use after being melted down.
"Stop hiding it." Jiang Heng looked at him expressionlessly. "Zhao Yi, if you really care about Dong Tinglan, then show it to me and tell me what happened." After a pause, he said softly, "Some wounds can only be completely healed by tearing them open again and squeezing out the pus and blood."
Zhao Yi looked directly into his eyes, trying to confirm that the other party truly cared for Dong Tinglan. Finally, he handed over the box with a heavy expression, as if entrusting Dong Tinglan's past to him.
Jiang Heng took a deep breath, opened the box, and saw a gold chain, with a loop at the end, just big enough to fit around his neck. He froze abruptly. He had thought it was just an ordinary iron chain, but... Dongling Yu, he actually dared!
Zhao Yi mentioned a few things that happened in the Cold Palace, and in just a few words, Jiang Heng felt an overwhelming pang of heartache. He couldn't imagine how the helpless child had survived day after day of torment and pain, nor could he believe that someone who had once lived in darkness could still offer him such tender love.
Jiang Heng suddenly realized that he was not nice to Dong Tinglan at all.
886 crouched in the corner, covering its mouth and sobbing softly, afraid of disturbing its host. The world's plot didn't even describe one-thousandth of the villain's misery. No wonder he became a villain. If he had encountered all those things, he would have wanted to blow up the world long ago.
"Zhao Yi," Jiang Heng said in a hoarse voice, "go and prepare a new one for me..."
Upon hearing his words, Zhao Yi was filled with rage. "What does the young master mean by this! Are you going to humiliate our master too?!"
He was breathing heavily, his eyes blazing with fury. If the other person hadn't been his master's favorite, he would have beaten him up long ago.
"Just listen to me. I promise that bastard will never use this method to influence him again." Jiang Heng stared at him, waiting for a reply.
Zhao Yi clenched his fist, then released it in an instant. "Fine. If you hurt the master, I'll be the first to punish you."
After saying that, he took the wooden box from Jiang Heng's hand and turned to leave.
"Zhao Yi, you'd better remain loyal to him for the rest of your life, or I'll make you wish you were dead."
Zhao Yi didn't stop walking, and chuckled, "That day will never come."
