From cannon fodder villain to superpowered queen

The sweet kiss came to an abrupt end, and the two looked up at the strange phenomenon in the sky.

The newly appearing light was not a residual energy fluctuation from the previous battle, but something entirely new and unknown...

Something.

It was more dazzling than the midday sun, yet it carried a chilling aura, like a sharp sword hanging overhead, gleaming with a light that made one's heart tremble.

"Holy crap, what the hell is this thing again..." Bi Yao muttered to herself, her tone revealing a hint of barely concealed nervousness.

Jiang Ruiyuan frowned as well. He gripped Bi Yao's hand and said in a deep voice, "Be careful, Yao Yao, this thing... is not right."

The surrounding air seemed to freeze, and an invisible pressure surged from all directions, making it hard to breathe.

The once clear sky was now illuminated by this light as if it were daytime, yet it carried an eerie tranquility, like the calm before a storm.

The light grew stronger and stronger, and the surrounding space began to distort. Transparent energy barriers appeared out of thin air, trapping them inside.

These barriers are as clear and transparent as crystal, yet incredibly hard.

Bi Yao tried to touch it with her hand, but felt a strong resistance and couldn't budge it at all.

Worse still, these barriers are shrinking, turning the once spacious space into a cramped one, like a giant cage slowly swallowing them up.

"Damn it!" Jiang Ruiyuan cursed under his breath. He swung the energy blade in his hand and slashed fiercely at the barrier, but only a string of sparks flew up and the barrier did not budge.

"No, this barrier is too strong, my attacks are completely ineffective!" Jiang Ruiyuan said anxiously.

Bi Yao also tried to attack the barrier with her own special ability, but the result was equally disappointing.

“It seems that a head-on confrontation won’t work,” Bi Yao took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down. “We need to think of another way.”

The barrier is still shrinking, and they don't have much time left.

The two stood back to back, warily observing their surroundings.

"Yaoyao," Jiang Ruiyuan suddenly spoke, "If... if there really is no other way..."

“There are no ifs!” Bi Yao interrupted him, her tone firm. “We will definitely find a way out!”

She gripped Jiang Ruiyuan's hand tightly, and a strange energy surged from within her...

The strange energy within Bi Yao's body, like a sleeping giant beast, suddenly awakened.

A faint golden light began to emanate from her body, and countless tiny runes appeared on her skin, as if ancient incantations were flowing through her.

She could feel that the energy barriers that had previously left her helpless were now forming a strange connection with her.

This feeling is like returning to the womb, familiar and reassuring.

“I think… I can feel them!” Bi Yao’s voice trembled slightly, but more than that, it was filled with excitement.

She closed her eyes and tried to communicate with the energy within the barrier.

Those cold barriers now seemed to become a part of her body, trembling with her will.

She suddenly opened her eyes, a sharp glint in them. "Ruiyuan! Follow my rhythm!" With that, Bi Yao guided the energy within her body, and powerful waves surged forth, resonating with the barrier.

"Om-"

The barrier, which had been shrinking continuously, suddenly stopped moving, as if a pause button had been pressed.

The silent oppressive feeling dissipated, replaced by an eerie stillness, as if time itself had frozen at that moment.

"Holy crap! It really stopped!" Jiang Ruiyuan's eyes widened, filled with surprise. "Yaoyao, your ability is insane!"

Before the two could recover, a flock of spirit birds with feathers as bright as flames suddenly flew out from the dazzling light in the sky.

They hovered gracefully in the air, each flap of their wings bringing with it a scorching wind, like a group of messengers from hell.

Immediately afterwards, they opened their beaks and spat out bursts of blazing flames, carrying a corrosive stench, as they pounced on them.

"Holy crap! What new trick is this now?" Jiang Ruiyuan quickly shielded Bi Yao behind him, his energy blade flashing as he created a screen of light to try and block the surging flames.

However, those flames were not ordinary flames. They were not only scorching hot, but also highly corrosive. As soon as they came into contact with the energy blade, they made a "sizzling" sound and emitted wisps of black smoke.

Jiang Ruiyuan felt a sharp pain in his arm, as if he had been splashed with sulfuric acid.

"These flames are poisonous!" He gritted his teeth, anxiously reminding Bi Yao while fending off the spirit bird's attacks.

"Don't worry, I'll figure something out!" Bi Yao took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down.

She knew that now was not the time to panic.

"Ruiyuan, hold them off for now. I need some time," she said calmly.

“Okay!” Jiang Ruiyuan replied. He knew that Bi Yao must have her own plan, and he would do his best to hold off these firebirds.

"Be careful." Before Bi Yao could finish speaking, she saw Jiang Ruiyuan surrounded by those firebirds. Without thinking, she rushed towards Jiang Ruiyuan.

Bi Yao's heart leaped into her throat. Seeing the firebirds clinging to Jiang Ruiyuan like leeches, she disregarded everything else and charged forward.

"Ruiyuan!" Her voice trembled slightly, filled with deep worry.

With lightning speed, Jiang Ruiyuan pulled Bi Yao behind him, while he faced the flames head-on. With his back to Bi Yao, he smiled wryly and said, "Tsk, you're such a worry. I told you to stay in the back." Despite this, his eyes were full of tenderness and determination.

Looking at his broad back, Bi Yao felt a warm current welling up in her heart.

The attacks from those spirit birds came like a storm, the flames were frighteningly hot, and the air was filled with the smell of burning.

Jiang Ruiyuan had several burn marks on his body, his skin was burned red, and blisters had even started to appear in some places, but he still gritted his teeth and waved his energy blade, trying his best to keep the flames away from Bi Yao.

Bi Yao's stamina was also rapidly depleting. While dodging the attacks of the flames, she tried her best to use her supernatural abilities to maintain the stability of the barrier.

But the flames were so dense, seemingly endless, that she was struggling to keep up. She was panting heavily, her face covered in a mixture of sweat and dust, looking rather disheveled.

"This won't do!" Bi Yao thought anxiously. She could sense that they were being forced into a corner, and if they didn't make a breakthrough, they might really die here.

However, just when they were about to give up, the spirit birds suddenly stopped attacking, as if they had received some kind of command, and all of them hovered in the air.

In the sky, the dazzling light suddenly began to flash intensely, and a huge rune slowly emerged, like a mysterious eye, coldly watching them.

The lines of the runes were complex and ancient, radiating a suffocating pressure, as if they contained some kind of powerful force.

"What...what is this?" Before Jiang Ruiyuan could finish speaking, he saw Bi Yao's face turn deathly pale...
