Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 209 Entering the Illusion
At this moment, Bai Wuchang, who had been standing silently to the side, finally spoke: "Young lady, do not be anxious. Whether human or divine, all possess seven souls and six spirits. In my opinion, you should first go to your husband's side and keep a close watch. If you find that his soul has left his body, you must immediately intercept it. Then, when the time is right, try to enter his consciousness to investigate. Perhaps he has simply lost his way somewhere." After saying this, Bai Wuchang gently shook his head, sighed, and turned to leave, leaving Su Yun standing alone, her face full of worry as she pondered what to do next.
Su Yun trembled as she reached out her right hand and gently touched her cheek, feeling the dampness in her palm. She knew she had just burst into tears again. Little Black seemed to sense its owner's sorrow. It obediently walked to Su Yun's side, bent down, and gestured for her to climb onto its broad back. And so, Little Black steadily carried Su Yun back to that familiar little courtyard.
Upon entering the courtyard, Su Yun went straight to her room. She quickly removed her slightly disheveled and tear-stained clothes, choosing a clean and elegant outfit from the wardrobe. Then, she sat down at her dressing table, carefully combing her messy hair and inserting a delicate hairpin. Looking in the mirror, she meticulously groomed her appearance, trying to look less haggard and disheveled. Once everything was in place, Su Yun took a deep breath and mustered her courage to walk towards the front hall.
At this moment, the Mu family was sitting in the front hall, quietly discussing the arrangements for Mu Chen's funeral. Su Yun stood quietly at the doorway, her gaze fixed on the ice coffin placed in the center of the hall. Through the transparent coffin lid, Mu Chen could be clearly seen lying peacefully inside, as if asleep. However, unlike the others, Su Yun's eyes were firm and resolute. She murmured to herself, "He's not dead."
These abrupt words instantly drew everyone's attention, and everyone turned to look in Su Yun's direction. Mother Mu was the first to react. She quickly stood up and walked to Su Yun's side, taking her hand and saying earnestly, "My child, the dead cannot be brought back to life. You mustn't be so fixated on this. Look at you now, how can we rest easy? Besides, you're carrying the Mu family's child, the hope for the entire family's future! So no matter what, you must take care of your health and not damage your health through overwork."
Faced with Mu's mother's concerned words, Su Yun simply nodded slightly, but her gaze never left Mu Chen in the ice coffin. After a moment of silence, Su Yun raised her head to look at Mu's father and said calmly, "I hope that Father and Mother can temporarily dismiss other irrelevant people. Your daughter-in-law has some things she wants to tell you privately."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Mu was slightly taken aback at first, but quickly understood Su Yun's meaning. He waved for the others present to leave, then turned to Su Yun and said gently, "Alright, whatever you say. I'm sure you do have many things you want to say to Mu Chen..."
With a solemn expression, Su Yun recounted her ordeal to the two elderly people before her—Mother Mu and Father Mu—in detail and truthfully. However, after listening, Mother Mu and Father Mu did not show the slightest surprise or disbelief; instead, their faces were filled with worry. They reached out and touched Su Yun's forehead, discovering that she had a high fever.
"My child, you should go and rest! Is your fever too high and you're starting to talk nonsense?" Mother Mu said with concern, gently patting Su Yun's shoulder.
Su Yun's eyes widened, desperately trying to convince her parents that everything she had said was true, but no matter how she explained, her parents insisted that she was delirious from illness. Left with no other option, Su Yun decided to use magic to prove her words were true. She chanted incantations, her hands quickly forming a complex hand seal, and a faint light shot from her hands, creating a strange image in the air.
Seeing this, Mr. and Mrs. Mu were stunned, completely unable to believe what was happening. After a long while, Mr. Mu finally came to his senses. He took a deep breath and said to Su Yun, "Since that's the case, then we'll believe you for now. However, this matter is of great importance and must be handled carefully. I will find a way to keep this news under wraps and announce to the outside world that you are sick and need to go abroad to recuperate for a while."
As night fell, the entire front hall became exceptionally quiet, with only Mu Chen and Su Yun remaining. Beside them, an adorable kitten lay quietly on the floor, occasionally blinking its eyes. Su Yun, feeling weak and exhausted from the day, unconsciously dozed off on the sofa. Just then, the black kitten suddenly meowed, seemingly gesturing for Su Yun to look up.
Su Yun looked up, but there was nothing in sight. The surroundings were quiet, save for the rustling of leaves in the breeze. Little Black, standing beside her, seemed anxious, hopping around and saying, "Hurry up and use magic! It'll be too late if we wait any longer. That's Mu Chen's soul."
Hearing Xiao Hei's urging, Su Yun dared not delay and quickly concentrated on casting a spell. With a flash of light, a blurry figure gradually appeared in the previously empty space ahead—it was Mu Chen's soul. However, no matter how Su Yun called his name, Mu Chen did not turn around, as if he were trapped in a deep illusion from which he could not extricate himself.
Seeing this, Su Yun and Xiao Hei exchanged a glance, then followed Mu Chen's spirit without hesitation. Before long, they arrived at a dense forest. The forest looked desolate, overgrown with weeds that almost completely obscured the path. But the deeper they went, the more wondrous the scenery became—at the edge of the forest, a breathtakingly beautiful paradise lay hidden.
Here, a crystal-clear stream flows gently by, and colorful flowers bloom along its banks; birds sing merrily in the branches, and various adorable little animals frolic and play or leisurely forage on the grass. The whole scene is as enchanting as a beautiful animated film.
While meowing excitedly, Xiao Hei explained to Su Yun, "Look, this must be the legendary illusion! I once heard the elders in the clan say that once a person's soul enters such a place, it is easy to be bewitched and become intoxicated by it. However, to break this illusion, the key is to awaken the person inside."
