Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 169 Y Clan Corpse Refining
At dawn, just as the eastern sky began to lighten with the first hint of white, Su Yun hurried back to Fuyao Residence. After a short rest, she quickly changed into clean and practical clothes, then called her ever-present little black cat, and together they rode on auspicious, colorful clouds, speeding towards the mysterious Y Clan.
Before long, they arrived at the vast forest where the black bear spirit often roamed. Here, the trees were lush and verdant, and birds sang merrily, their calls blending together like a natural symphony. Su Yun moved nimbly through the forest paths, her sharp eyes scanning her surroundings. She searched the forest thoroughly several times, leaving no corner unchecked. Furthermore, she used her exquisite magic to probe the forest's energy fluctuations, attempting to find any trace of human activity. However, after her investigation, she found no signs of human presence.
As dusk approached, Su Yun decided to find an inn to rest. Stepping into the Y tribe's village, she keenly noticed the slightly strange behavior of the people. Everyone clutched a delicate little bowl tightly in their arms, as if it were an invaluable treasure. She guessed these bowls probably contained terrifying Gu worms, but Su Yun didn't press the matter. After all, when in Rome, do as the Romans do; she didn't want her curiosity to cause unnecessary trouble.
Night fell, all was silent, and the entire village was immersed in tranquility. As the night deepened, Xiao Hei nimbly leaped onto the rooftops, silently observing the village like a ghost in the darkness. Time passed, and even in the latter half of the night, the fog lingered, and the hazy moonlight enveloped the earth. Suddenly, Xiao Hei spotted a small figure hurrying towards the mountains.
"Meow~" Xiao Hei whispered a secret signal to Su Yun. Su Yun, already fully prepared, moved at the sound, his figure flashing as he met Xiao Hei like a ghost. Following the direction Xiao Hei indicated, he saw a little girl in simple clothes hurrying to the edge of the forest. She carefully placed the bowl in her hand on the ground, then closed her eyes tightly, chanting incantations. A series of obscure and difficult-to-understand spells flowed from her lips…
A colossal creature slowly crawled out of the jar. Its enormous size was astonishing. This monster had three heads and six arms. Each head had a ferocious expression and exuded a chilling aura; its six arms were thick and powerful, as if they could easily tear everything apart.
Su Yun looked at Xiao Hei beside her in horror and asked in a trembling voice, "What... what is this thing?" Xiao Hei shook his head blankly and helplessly spread his hands, saying, "I've never seen such a monster before!" The two looked at each other, their hearts filled with fear and confusion.
Just then, they noticed the monster was looking up at the sky, seemingly doing something strange. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be absorbing the essence of the sun and moon, its body radiating an eerie light. As time passed, the light emanating from the monster grew stronger, and its body began to gradually swell.
"My God! It keeps getting bigger!" Su Yun's eyes widened, her face filled with shock. She simply couldn't believe what she was seeing; this already terrifying monster was still growing, becoming even larger. Little Black beside her nodded nervously, echoing, "Yeah, at this rate, who knows how big it will get!"
Shortly afterward, the enormous and ferocious monster suddenly let out a low roar, and then its body began to shrink rapidly, gradually returning to its normal size. Once back to normal, the monster didn't stop. It opened its blood-red maw, revealing sharp fangs, and roamed the forest at lightning speed, wantonly devouring the innocent animals.
At this moment, a red sun slowly rose, its warm sunlight piercing through layers of mist and illuminating the entire mountain forest. The mysterious woman calmly extended her slender, white finger and gently beckoned; the Gu worms she had released flew back into her hand as if summoned. Then, she turned and walked towards home.
Meanwhile, Su Yun and Xiao Hei closely followed the woman. They seemed to float in the air, their feet resting on colorful clouds. Before long, the woman arrived safely at her doorstep. However, Su Yun and Xiao Hei didn't reveal themselves. Instead, they quietly used invisibility magic to conceal their presence and aura, preparing to secretly observe what tricks the woman was up to.
The woman pushed open the door and walked straight into a dark room. The room was dimly lit and filled with a pungent, unpleasant odor. Upon closer inspection, she saw many bodies lying haphazardly inside. Their faces were an eerie, ashen blue, and they appeared lifeless, as if they had been dead for years.
Just then, the Gu worm suddenly leaped out of the woman's hand, nimbly hopping and leaping across the ground. Seeing this, the woman quickly formed hand seals and chanted incantations. In an instant, a black light flashed, and the Gu worm transformed into a dark shadow, rapidly attaching itself to each of the corpses.
After a series of complex and mysterious actions, the graceful woman finally closed the door gently and carefully took out a yellowed paper talisman from her bosom. She muttered incantations, and a cinnabar brush appeared in her hand, which she used to draw a strange incantation on the paper with flowing strokes. After finishing, the woman solemnly affixed the talisman to the door, as if completing a crucial ritual.
Meanwhile, Su Yun, who had been secretly observing from a distance, quietly turned around and returned to the inn. His brow furrowed slightly, his heart filled with doubt and curiosity, as he quickly walked to the table in his room and sat down.
"Xiao Hei, tell me, what exactly is she up to?" Su Yun said, pouring himself a cup of tea, but his gaze never left Xiao Hei.
Xiao Hei blinked, then replied thoughtfully, "In my opinion, she's probably practicing corpse cultivation. But... using Gu worms to cultivate a corpse, this is the first time I've ever seen that! It's unheard of!" As he said this, Xiao Hei couldn't help but shake his head and marvel.
Hearing Xiao Hei's words, Su Yun's curiosity grew even stronger, and he quickly asked, "Do our books have any records of this method of using Gu worms to refine corpses?"
Xiao Hei stretched out a paw and scratched its head, then pointed to the thick "Encyclopedia of Treasures" on the table and said, "Well... why don't you take a look through this encyclopedia yourself? You might find some useful clues."
