Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage

Chapter 136 The Jade Maiden Heart Sutra (Volume 2)

Mu Chen frowned slightly, bending down in confusion to pick up the fallen book. On the cover were several large, bold characters—"Jade Maiden Heart Sutra Technique." He was surprised: when did he acquire such a book? His memory seemed shrouded in mist; he couldn't recall it at all.

Mu Chen gently turned the pages, a musty smell of old paper wafting out. The text was densely packed, yet it exuded a mysterious aura. He stared at these unfamiliar and ancient characters, trying to decipher some clues. However, this seemed to be no easy task.

Mu Chen gently placed the heavy book on the slightly worn yet rustic wooden table, then slowly sat down. He frowned slightly, his gaze fixed on the book before him, weathered by time, as if it held endless secrets and mysteries. Gradually, Mu Chen's thoughts began to drift, and he fell into deep contemplation.

The book looked quite old; the cover was slightly yellowed, and the edges showed signs of wear. Mu Chen thought to himself that this must be one of the books Wen Shu loved to study. He couldn't understand a thing of the content, but he knew Wen Shu had a deep interest in and unique insights into this kind of knowledge.

Just as Mu Chen was lost in thought, a soft, familiar knock on the door suddenly broke the tranquil atmosphere inside. "Husband?" Wen Shu's gentle, sweet voice came from outside the door, like a spring breeze caressing Mu Chen's heart.

"I'm here. The door's unlocked, so please come in." Mu Chen quickly replied, raising his voice slightly, as if afraid Wen Shu outside wouldn't hear him.

As the door was gently pushed open, Wen Shu's petite figure appeared in the doorway. Today, she was wearing a light blue dress, the hem of which fluttered in the wind, making her look as beautiful and charming as a blooming flower. She smiled and walked towards Mu Chen.

Mu Chen asked softly, "Sweetie, you seem to have left your book here?"

"No!" Wen Shu didn't even hesitate for a moment, blurting it out as if by reflex. Her beautiful eyes looked at the other person with clarity and determination, as if expressing her true inner thoughts.

Just then, Mu Chen took out a yellowed book from beside him with a puzzled look on his face and handed it to Wen Shu as he spoke: "Look, I have this here... 'The Jade Maiden Heart Sutra'? I never usually read this kind of thing!" He scratched his head, seemingly very surprised that the book was here.

Wen Shu took the book and examined it carefully. After a moment, she shook her head and said, "Well, this really isn't mine. I only have the first volume. As for the second and third volumes, I've never owned them. Yours just happens to be the second volume." She explained to Mu Chen with a smile, her tone relaxed and natural, making it impossible to sense any guilt or concealment on her part.

"This is really strange!" Mu Chen frowned slightly, staring at the book in his hand that he couldn't understand at all, muttering to himself, "I can't even understand a single word. How can such a strange book exist in the world?" After saying that, he shook his head helplessly, then turned to the person next to him and said generously, "Since you can understand it, then this book is yours!" After saying that, he handed the book over without hesitation.

The moment Wen Shu received the book, she was overwhelmed by its ancient and profound aura. She carefully turned the pages, examining the obscure text and illustrations, and gasped in astonishment, exclaiming, "My goodness! This book is practically an antique! And it's a rare, original copy, an absolute priceless treasure. Its value is probably immeasurable. Our family truly has hidden gems; we have all sorts of treasures!" Her words were filled with surprise and admiration.

Wen Shu pouted her pink lips in dissatisfaction and said coquettishly, "Oh dear, if that's really the case, then I can't wait to go and collect this middle volume! After all, I've already successfully collected the first and second volumes." Her big, watery eyes sparkled with anticipation, as if the middle volume was right in front of her.

Seeing this, Mu Chen, standing to the side, couldn't help but reach out and gently pinch Wen Shu's cute little nose, saying affectionately, "Okay, we'll definitely have to get it back when we have a suitable opportunity. But to be honest, I haven't really paid much attention to this kind of thing, and I don't know if it might appear at auctions." He frowned slightly, thoughtfully considering how to acquire the middle volume. "Oh dear, I really don't know! I haven't even paid attention to auctions. I just think this book is so precious that people might not be willing to put it up for auction so easily." Wen Shu gently shook her head and sighed helplessly.

"Alright, baby, let's not give up so easily. Although this is indeed quite difficult, how will we know the final result if we don't try? Maybe there will be an unexpected surprise." Mu Chen looked at Wen Shu gently, reaching out to stroke her hair, his tone full of doting affection. "Also, my little darling, I don't know what's wrong with you lately, you've been sleeping so much like a cute little kitten. Are you too tired?"

"Yeah, a little bit. I don't know why, but I always feel like I haven't been getting enough sleep these past few days." Wen Shu frowned slightly, then pouted and said.

Hearing her say that, Mu Chen couldn't help but show a hint of worry: "Oh, is that so? Why don't we go to the hospital for a check-up? I hope it's not some kind of illness." He looked at Wen Shu with concern, his eyes full of worry.

However, Wen Shu waved her hand and replied, "Let's forget about it, we'll talk about it another day. Look at the weather today, it's so strange! There's pink fog everywhere, the visibility is frighteningly low, it's inconvenient to go out." As she spoke, she couldn't help but glance out the window a few times, muttering complaints under her breath.

"What? It's still here! I noticed it when I woke up just now. It's been so long, I was so happy to think it had disappeared. Sigh, it seems God really isn't cooperating. In that case, let's just stay home today." Mu Chen said, looking at Wen Shuzhen beside him with eyes full of doting affection, his gentle gaze seemingly capable of melting anyone. He treated Wen Shuzhen like a child, caring for her meticulously and attentively.
