In this post-apocalyptic world, I unexpectedly became a star galaxy master.
Chapter 42 Torrential Rain
This was during a routine mountain patrol.
Thick, dark clouds suddenly surged up in the sky and rapidly pressed down on the earth, quickly turning the world as dark as night.
At the same time, thunder rumbled incessantly in the air. Thick, purple electric dragons, as thick as tree trunks, roamed across the sky, as if about to cleave the heavens and the earth.
"Pitter-patter," "drip-drip," raindrops the size of eggs pounded the ground, leaving little craters. Soon they gathered again and flowed into a small stream into the distance.
All of this happened too fast, in just a few moments.
The sight before her eyes left Hongtang speechless and shocked. She murmured to herself, "It's August 1st today."
My sister's disaster predictions were quite accurate.
Although the air was still scorching hot, the torrential rain brought an end to the heat.
"Meow!" Ha Ge cried out and jumped into Hong Tang's arms, while Tengteng shrank and wrapped itself around her wrist.
Hongtang looked up at the sky at a 45-degree angle and did not notice this detail.
Now, she wants to use her most beautiful profile to welcome this new round of apocalyptic baptism.
"Hey, who hit me!"
My face hurts so much...
[Host, those are hailstones.] The younger sister covered her face, she couldn't bear to look.
By this time, Hongtang was soaked through by the rain. "This downpour and hail are coming on strong. Let's hurry back to the stone house."
She shivered, holding Ha Ge in one arm and using wood energy to heal her face, which had been injured by the hail, with the other. With a few teleports and displacements, she returned to the stone house.
I took a shower and changed my clothes in the room. When we came out, the temperature inside had dropped.
Hongtang pouted, "It was 66°C just now, and now it's only 31°C, and the temperature is still dropping sharply. It doesn't give us any transition time at all." She quickly turned off the cooling heater and put it away, as she wouldn't need it for the time being.
Through the glass window of the second door, Hongtang saw that the rainwater outside had flowed into a river, and some dead trees and stones at the entrance had been washed away, rolling forward with the rushing water.
These are all things I painstakingly "carried" back; I can't let them be washed away like this.
She opened the outer stone door, and the rough "whoosh" of the rain suddenly became louder, giving her a sense of tranquility and loneliness she had never felt before.
After a moment of silence, Hongtang stored the scattered stones and withered wood into her spatial storage. Then, a sudden thought struck her: could rainwater also be stored in her spatial storage?
By placing one's palm into the river formed on the ground and concentrating one's thoughts, a small pool of water appeared in the space.
It really can be done! If we had discovered it sooner, the problem with the water in those two fishponds wouldn't have dragged on for so long. But it's not too late now; she seems to have discovered a new way to manipulate objects using space.
She flashed into the space and arrived in front of a plastic water tower filled with water. She placed her palm on the wall of the water tower, then opened her hand. A ball of clear water appeared above her palm, enveloped by a transparent barrier, floating gently.
She took another empty outdoor transparent bucket. This time, she didn't touch any of them, but used her mental power to control the water in the water tower to enter the bucket.
As the water level in the bucket gradually rose, Hongtang was overjoyed; she had unlocked another skill!
After numerous experiments, she discovered that as long as the distance did not exceed 10 meters, she could transfer matter or exchange positions between two objects, or between the objects themselves.
For example, if there are half a cup of coffee and half a cup of milk on the table, Hongtang can either control the coffee and milk to enter the other person's cup remotely, or swap the positions of the two cups.
This skill is amazing! If used well, it can be incredibly effective and achieve twice the results with half the effort. Hongtang felt a surge of excitement as she pondered the scenarios in which she might use it in the future.
[Host, stop daydreaming. Have you seen any energy element particles floating in the air?]
Hongtang flashed out of the space and entered the stone house. Sure enough, she saw countless points of light floating in the air, colorful and beautiful, yet also terrifying.
They fell slowly, quickly blending into everything they touched.
Hago seemed to really like the specks of light, leaping and chasing after them. Hongtang noticed some purple specks of light entering Hago's body, and she became somewhat worried.
"What are these? Will they hurt Brother Ha?"
These are the unknown energy substances I mentioned before, scattered throughout interstellar space. I didn't expect them to arrive so quickly.
*Note: This substance is mentioned in Chapter 8.
Hongtang frowned, hugged Ha Ge in her arms, and stopped it from chasing the light spots.
"You said that these energy substances can bring about both positive and negative evolution. Brother Ha absorbed quite a lot just now, could it be negative evolution?"
The younger sister secretly rolled her eyes. [No, Ha-ge and Tengteng have already completed their "awakening," meaning they have the ability to control energy. Although these energy substances aren't as powerful as the energy within the host's body, they're still a great tonic for Ha-ge and the others. Absorbing them now could very well lead to a second awakening.]
Is this for real?!
Hongtang's eyes lit up, and she immediately released Hago to let it absorb the nutrients, while also releasing Tengteng. The two little ones then rushed into the downpour and frolicked wildly; anyone who didn't know better would think they'd gone mad.
"Sister, can I also absorb these energy substances?" She fits this description too.
Although she already possesses four types of energy: ice, fire, wood, mental power, and space, none of these were "awakened" by her.
She wasn't greedy; she just wanted to experience "awakening" and didn't want to miss this opportunity.
[Yes. Generally, you can capture and awaken energy by observing its color. Host, you need to hurry, the energy in the air seems to be disappearing.]
And so, another "idiot" went crazy in the rainstorm.
Ten minutes later, Hongtang returned carrying a satisfied Ha Ge and Tengteng, while she herself hung her head and sighed.
Why can she see energy substances of various colors but not absorb them? Is it because they are repelled by existing energy?
Hongtang couldn't understand it and could only regret missing such a good opportunity to awaken.
Unbeknownst to her, just as the energy was about to dissipate completely, several golden specks of light silently merged into her body.
Ha Ge and Tengteng had probably absorbed too much energy, or were undergoing a second awakening, and had both fallen into a deep sleep. If she hadn't been quick enough to rescue them, the two little ones would have been swept away by the flood.
After wiping the rain off Hago, Hongtang sent them into the space. Although she didn't know what would happen during the awakening period, the space was the safest place.
Feeling dizzy, Hongtang thought she had caught a cold from the rain. After taking a hot shower, changing her clothes, and taking some cold medicine, she went to the space and fell into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, the humans of Aquamarine, who had been struggling to survive on the brink of life and death due to a month of extreme heat, finally welcomed the long-awaited cooling and rainfall.
People around the world rushed out of shelters, running, laughing, and embracing in celebration amidst the torrential rain. Some cried and laughed, drinking in the rainwater, thanking the heavens for their mercy, for finally hearing humanity's cries and sending down the life-giving rain to save them from suffering.
But who could have known that this seemingly redemptive downpour was the beginning of another devastating disaster?
As for the "star people" who had already traveled to Aquamarine, although they had luckily escaped the "evolutionary crisis" of Aquamarine, life on their new planet was not as idyllic as they had imagined. Not only did they have to work hard to build the planet, but they also had to face the constant threat of terrifying planetary beasts invading at any time...
Survival is never easy, no matter where you are.
However, Hongtang knew nothing about these things, and they were none of her concern.
