Chapter 103 Death Ice Crystal
Oh wow, it was such a huge ice crystal!
Ice crystals are short for ice-type crystal nuclei.
No wonder she felt the temperature was lower here than elsewhere, and she had to use fire energy to cover her body to resist the cold.
But she still has to go down to the seabed to see for herself what's going on.
Moreover, she wanted such a large ice crystal!
For safety reasons, Hongtang summoned Qiaoqiao (the bridging robot) again, and the two became one, heading straight for the seabed.
Then, she witnessed a scene that would shake her to her very core.
There stood a lump of ice, as big as a small car, quietly on the seabed, emanating a chilling aura.
The chilling air, like a tentacle of death, slowly stretched and rolled outwards. Wherever it passed, icicles rose from the earth. Every creature it touched was buried in this terrible frozen tomb, without exception.
Upon closer inspection, the frozen creatures were quite diverse, including starfish, octopuses, abalone, sea urchins, various sea fish, and a variety of marine plants. Of course, some of these creatures were mutated, while others were not.
Through the ice, these creatures can be clearly seen, all maintaining their motion as if they have been frozen in place.
Curious, Hongtang reached out and dipped her fingers into the swirling, icy air. The chill immediately climbed her fingers and spread rapidly up her arm, forming a thin layer of ice. The large air bubbles that had enveloped her entire body also turned into thin ice, which, unable to withstand the pressure of the seabed, shattered and merged back into the seawater.
Even though she was covered by the mecha, Hongtang was still shivering from the cold. She immediately withdrew her hand, activated her fire energy, and removed the ice layer from her body, only then did she feel warmer. Then she wrapped her whole body in a thick bubble.
After observing for a while, Hongtang discovered another interesting phenomenon. Some surviving marine creatures came from afar, rushing towards the ice crystals and the cold air they generated as if offering themselves as sacrifices, and were then undoubtedly frozen on the spot.
Hongtang blinked in confusion. This magical and strange scene puzzled her, but she knew that this giant ice crystal must be something extraordinary.
So she moved a little closer. But the cold air actually passed right through the large bubble, climbing up her feet and legs, creating layers of thin ice.
Hongtang had no choice but to circulate all the ice energy in her body, converting it into water and reinforcing it onto the bubble wall. After repeating this process several times, the cold air finally stopped penetrating the bubble. This further proves the extraordinary nature of this ice crystal.
It wasn't until she got close to the ice crystal that Hongtang realized that besides being exceptionally large, it also had a magical feature: it looked like a honeycomb, as if it were made up of countless crystals, each about the size of an adult's fist.
If these crystals could be broken down, wouldn't there be many ice crystals?
Hongtang thought to herself, "I wonder what kind of creature's crystal core this is, it's so magical." After thinking it over, she felt the most likely possibility was the crystal core of a mutated whale. But she hadn't found any clues nearby.
But that's not important. What's important is that she has to get her hands on this amazing thing.
With a wave of her hand, Hongtang collected the enormous ice crystal into a specific location within the space.
Looking down at the ground, she saw several small crystals scattered around. She picked them up and held them in her hand. They were icy cold, and a thin layer of brittle ice began to grow on her palm, though it wasn't as powerful as the whole ice crystal.
This confirmed Hongtang's idea that ice crystals could be broken down into smaller ice bodies for individual use.
As her consciousness entered the space, she discovered that the ice crystals stopped releasing cold air after entering.
This was strange, and Hongtang had some guesses. To confirm her thoughts, she flashed into the space.
When I touched the ice crystals, they were still cool to the touch, but there was no coldness emanating from them.
Hongtang pondered for a moment, then took a bottle of water and poured some onto the ice crystals. The ice crystals immediately absorbed the water and released a chill that spread outwards.
After a while, perhaps the water was exhausted, the chill disappeared.
Hongtang seemed to be deep in thought. She then retrieved some seawater from outside her spatial dimension and poured it onto the ice crystals again. Just like before, the seawater was absorbed by the ice crystals, releasing a chill, which dissipated shortly afterward.
Whether it's ordinary water or seawater, the cold air produced before and after is no different.
Hongtang took out another small ice crystal and put it into the refrigeration furnace, which quickly started up.
She was certain that this was a peculiar ice crystal with ice-based core energy and the ability to react with water; she had struck gold.
But she couldn't imagine what kind of creature could generate such a magical crystal core. The largest creature in the ocean is the whale, but even a mutated whale shouldn't be able to generate such a huge crystal core.
Hongtang left the space and searched the surroundings, but found no trace of giant animals such as whales or sharks. She didn't even see any carcasses, bits of flesh, or bones, so she gave up the idea of continuing the investigation.
However, she did notice that after taking away the giant ice crystal, the ice layers on the frozen creatures were gradually melting. Those that had been frozen for a short time and had thinner ice layers came back to life after thawing. Some fled, while others attacked Hongtang, but she easily dealt with them all.
Could these ice crystals possibly have the function of preserving living organisms? That's quite amazing.
But we don't have the time or energy to continue the research right now, so we'll talk about it later.
As it approached 3 p.m., the light in the water gradually dimmed. Hongtang sensed a slight energy fluctuation in the water, which meant that an unknown danger was approaching.
As soon as he released his mental energy, he "saw" a large group of giant mutated marine animals moving rapidly toward him from dozens of miles away.
Having spent enough time at the bottom of the sea and having achieved their goal, Hongtang decided that it was not wise to linger there. She quickly left the seabed and swam towards the ice cave where she had entered the water earlier.
There's a nearly 20-meter-deep ice layer above the sea. Although she could dig a hole in the ice to get out, it would be more time-efficient to swim there than to dig one.
Not long after she left, a group of mutated sharks arrived at breakneck speed. Wherever they went, nothing grew.
On the vast ice surface, several teams of superpowered individuals were fighting and vying for something.
After a muscular man knocked his opponent away with a single punch, he set his sights on others.
The man he had targeted watched his accomplice being sent flying in an arc, trembling with fear. Half a second later, he fled the scene in terror. This drew a look of disdain from the muscular man, who then turned and joined another fierce battle.
In the chaos, no one noticed that the unfortunate guy who had been punched flying fell headfirst into a huge ice hole and plummeted straight down.
A few seconds later, the unfortunate man realized that he was falling upside down into the depths of the ice pit. Although he hadn't figured out what was going on, his survival instinct made him immediately activate his ice-type ability, forming a thick layer of ice above his head to stop him from falling any further.
When he got up and realized his predicament, he was overjoyed. Not only was he not dead, but he had also escaped death by accidentally falling into the ice cave.
Using his supernatural abilities, he gradually increased the height of the ice beneath him until it was only about the height of a person. He tiptoed, cautiously peeked out, and saw that the people were still fighting to the death not far away. He quickly pulled his head back, let out a heavy sigh of relief, and slumped down.
"I absolutely cannot let them find out, or I will surely die!"
The unlucky guy touched the thing on his chest with lingering fear, a bitter smile appearing on his bruised face, and then waved his hand to seal the top of his head with his ice-type ability.
Now no one could find him. He would wait until they were all gone before going out again. Then the unlucky guy fell into a coma.
Having found the ice hole they came from, Hongtang was rapidly moving upwards when, halfway up, she suddenly crashed into the ice and was thrown back into the sea.
"Frog Fun, which scoundrel actually blocked up the ice cave!"
I almost smashed my head open! o(╥﹏╥)o!
