Reborn to bury love, I can reach for the stars.

Chapter 167 Do you believe in fate?

After he finished speaking, the old man glanced at her a few times. Seeing that she didn't seem inclined to ask any further questions, he couldn't help but clear his throat: "Is there anything else you want to ask?"

Shi Wanmeng shook her head blankly: "No, what else could I ask?"

"It's fate!" the old man couldn't hold back any longer.

"Oh, this? This isn't important." Shi Wanmeng waved her hand dismissively, showing no interest in the question.

The old man stared wide-eyed at Shi Wanmeng in disbelief: "Not important? How could it not be important? You young people, humph, when I was your age, my kids were already old enough to run errands!"

Shi Wanmeng sighed and rubbed her forehead in exasperation: "Times have changed."

The old man shook his head disapprovingly: "No, I see your luck with romance is even better than last time, how can you not cherish it?"

Upon hearing this, Shi Wanmeng's eyes flickered, as if she had thought of something: "Did you see something different?"

The old man smiled mysteriously and said, "This is a secret of heaven, and cannot be revealed. However, as long as you follow your heart and give each other a chance, you will not go wrong."

Shi Wanmeng's heart was pounding wildly; she didn't know why, but she just couldn't calm down.

"Come on, add me on WeChat," the old man said, holding Shi Wanmeng's hand, unwilling to give up. "I'll introduce you to my grandson later."

Shi Wanmeng reluctantly took out her phone, not for her grandson, but to keep in touch with the old man. She didn't know when she'd be able to visit if she got busy, and the old man wasn't here every day; it was truly a coincidence that they'd run into each other these past few times.

After adding the friend, the old man put away his phone with satisfaction.

“You young people these days are just too busy, hehe, but with me around, you don’t have to worry,” the old man said earnestly.

Shi Wanmeng didn't know how to answer, so she just smiled and nodded.

The two sat in the pavilion and talked for a long time before reluctantly parting ways.

Although they didn't see each other often, Shi Wanmeng always felt a deep sense of warmth whenever she saw the old man, especially after the loss of her elders. She often came alone to clear her mind then, and the old man seemed to sense her sadness, always silently sitting beside her. Though he didn't say anything, she was very grateful.

After parting ways with the old man, she strolled along the lake, her thoughts drifting away. Before she knew it, she arrived at a coffee shop. Pushing open the door, the rich aroma of coffee wafted out. The shop wasn't crowded. Shi Wanmeng found a seat by the window, ordered a coffee, and gazed at the lake view outside, feeling utterly at peace.

Just then, a cell phone rang in the quiet shop, drawing Shi Wanmeng's attention. She saw the man with his back to her, seemingly fiddling with a laptop. He picked up the phone, glanced at it, and answered, "Hello..."

Upon hearing that familiar voice, Shi Wanmeng trembled as if struck by lightning. No, it can't be...

The man quickly hung up the phone, glanced back at the door, and unexpectedly bumped into Shi Wanmeng, who hadn't had time to look away.

Huang Chen saw a hint of surprise flash in her eyes, so he got up and walked towards her, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"What a coincidence, you're here too." Huang Chen's voice rang in Shi Wanmeng's ears. His deliberately lowered voice was deep and hoarse, making her shiver involuntarily.

He was dressed casually today and looked incredibly handsome.

Shi Wanmeng was a little flustered: "Um...yes, what a coincidence, what are you doing here?"

"I'll wait for someone."

Huang Chen sat down directly next to her, his gaze never leaving her. Shi Wanmeng awkwardly pointed and said, "Your things are over there."

Huang Chen glanced back and said, "Wait a moment, I'll get it."

Shi Wanmeng: "..." That's not what I meant.

Huang Chen quickly moved everything over, while Shi Wanmeng looked down at her phone, and the two remained silent for a moment. Huang Chen didn't mind and continued working on his laptop.

In the silence, Shi Wanmeng secretly glanced at Huang Chen a few times, a strange feeling welling up in her heart.

"Do you believe in fate?" Huang Chen seemed to have finished his work, closed his notebook, and suddenly broke the silence.

Shi Wanmeng looked up and met his gaze: "I...don't know." The denial that she wanted to blurt out suddenly seemed impossible to utter.

Huang Chen smiled, his eyes sparkling: "I feel there's a special connection between us. You saw the photos online yesterday, right?"

Shi Wanmeng nodded, her heart racing; she didn't know how to answer.

Just then, the waiter brought her coffee, temporarily easing her embarrassment.

Huang Chen didn't care about her answer and continued, "I think fate is really amazing. This is our second photo together, right? And both of them were when we didn't know each other."

“Hmm,” Shi Wanmeng said, somewhat incredulously, “I was startled too.”

"Do you remember what I told you about destiny?" Huang Chen took a sip of coffee and said in a low voice, "That's how I feel right now."

Shi Wanmeng felt a ripple in her heart upon hearing his words. She looked into Huang Chen's eyes, trying to find a hint of mockery or a joke, but she only saw sincerity.

"Maybe," she said softly.

Huang Chen smiled, a warm smile: "Actually, I was thinking last night whether we might have missed each other like this in other situations. I had that feeling."

Shi Wanmeng was slightly taken aback, not expecting him to say this. After thinking for a while, she shook her head: "Probably not, I really can't think of anything."

“Who knows? I feel like life is full of surprises now. I wonder where there are other photos.” He looked at Shi Wanmeng with a smile: “I wonder when I’ll dig up a little gift buried in the past.”

Shi Wanmeng closed her eyes and began to visualize the scene in her mind. A faint smile unconsciously crept onto her lips, and she quickly lowered her head, picked up her coffee cup, and took a small sip, trying to conceal her expression.

She secretly glanced at Huang Chen and was relieved to find him looking out the window at the scenery.

Neither of the two people behind them spoke. They simply sat there silently, each holding their coffee cup, occasionally taking a sip, completely still. Their eyes would occasionally meet, but they would quickly look away, as if deliberately avoiding each other's gaze.

A faint aroma of coffee filled the air, creating a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. For some reason, Shi Wanmeng felt that the distance between them was closer than ever before.

The two people, who were enjoying this rare moment of peace, were unaware that the excited shop assistant had been quietly observing them from behind the cashier for quite some time.
