Chapter 42 Then Kiss Me Once
Wen Qi felt a warmth in her heart: "Okay, you be careful too."
The two returned to the table and quietly enjoyed their food.
Xiao He ate quickly, and soon the bowl of noodles was empty.
Wen Qi hadn't even finished her meal when she looked up at him and asked, "So fast? Aren't you burning yourself? Is that enough for you?"
Xiao He wiped his mouth: "It's alright, that's enough."
Wen Qi took a bite of the mango pomelo sago bubble cup and felt delighted. She couldn't help but ask, "Did you hire a chef to teach you how to make it? It tastes so good!"
Xiao He dared not take credit and honestly confessed, "Yes, I called over the chefs from the Governor's Office."
Wen Qi exclaimed, "I never imagined my master's skills were so good."
Xiao He waited a few seconds and, seeing that she didn't speak, felt a little jealous: "You only praise the master, what about my cooking skills?"
Wen Qi looked up at him: "Huh?"
“I didn’t let the masters help me with any of this today. They were in charge of the theory, but I did the actual work.” Xiao He raised his chin and looked at the dessert in Wen Qi’s hand.
Wen Qi thought he did all of this with his master's help, and that he was just an assistant. She never expected that he did it all by himself. At this moment, she didn't know what to say. Her mind went blank, as if an electric current was passing through her, making a buzzing sound.
Seeing her shocked expression, Xiao He couldn't help but feel a little smug. He stared intently at her, then reached out his right hand and placed it on Wen Qi's face. He then gently wiped the cream from the corner of her mouth with the pad of his thumb, his movements very tender.
As he wiped, he said, "You're acting like a little kid, with food all over your mouth."
Wen Qi thought Tang Hui was right. Xiao He was sometimes a paper tiger. She suddenly felt playful. Her cunning eyes darted around, and when he wasn't paying attention, she poked the cream in the cup with her index finger and then quickly smeared it on his nose, looking smug: "You're the one who's like a child, hahaha."
After succeeding, she immediately got up and ran to the living room. Xiao He was stunned for a moment before he reacted.
He took a long stride and followed closely behind Wen Qi. The two of them, unusually, chased and played around in the living room.
Wen Qi was still holding a cup in her hand, afraid that she would knock it over if she moved too much, so Xiao He quickly caught her out.
She struggled with all her might, but Xiao He didn't exert any force on her at all. As a result, she lost her balance and fell backward.
"careful!"
Xiao's heart was in his throat, worried that she would fall to the ground. He quickly grabbed her and pulled her up, but he lost his balance and the two of them fell onto the sofa.
Wen Qi lay on him, slightly disheveled. Her hair clip had come loose, and her long hair was hanging down naturally. One side of her coat had slipped down to her elbow, revealing the sundress underneath. One hand was still resting on his mountain-like chest muscles.
Xiao He held her soft, slender waist with one arm and tightly gripped the wrist of the hand holding the cup with the other.
Their eyes met, and Wen Qi felt her heart pounding like a drumbeat. She sensed something was different, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Xiao He's lips curved into a deeper smile, his voice low and pleasant: "So mischievous, huh?"
Wen Qi was like a startled fawn, her heart fluttering with desire, her face turning an unnatural red, like a ripe apple.
She tried to get off him, but Xiao He's hands were like iron clamps, holding her tightly and making her completely unable to move.
Wen Qi quickly shifted her gaze, looking to the side and calling out in a low voice, "Hey, let me get up first, we'll talk after I get up."
Xiao He raised his voice slightly, staring at her like a scoundrel, and asked in a roguish tone, "Remember now?"
Wen Qi turned her head and scoffed, "You know perfectly well why."
"Then kiss me." Xiao He looked her up and down, his deep eyes swirling with emotion, darker than the night outside the window.
Wen Qi felt uneasy under his gaze. Following his line of sight, she pulled the fabric over her chest in embarrassment and indignation. Her heart pounded even faster. She tried to remain calm and raised her voice, "Don't push your luck. Let go, or I'll get angry."
"Wife, did I do well today?" Xiao He still held her in his arms, then changed the subject, his deep voice carrying a hint of seduction.
"Who's your wife? Don't call me that." Wen Qi's words left no room for argument. Taking advantage of his inattention, she gently patted the back of his hand and stood up.
Xiao He gasped, clearly disagreeing with her. His brows furrowed, and his expression instantly turned serious: "What do you think? They've already got their marriage certificate."
When Wen Qi heard Xiao He hiss, she noticed a large red patch on the back of his hand. She put her cup on the coffee table, bent down, lifted his hand, and asked with a frown, "What happened to your hand? Are you hurt?"
"It's nothing." Xiao He, like a boy throwing a tantrum, pulled his hand back with a displeased look, his eyes fixed on the cup on the coffee table.
Wen Qi guessed, "Did you get burned this afternoon? I'll go get some ointment for you."
"No need, I'll go upstairs first." Xiao He said, then got up and prepared to go upstairs.
Wen Qi quickly pressed him down, both amused and exasperated by his actions. This man got angry so easily: "Hey, sit down. You did pretty well today, I'll give you five points."
Wen Qi coaxed him gently, and Xiao He, who had no backbone, was immediately appeased.
"Alright then." He sat down again.
He asked, "What do you mean by adding five points? What's the total score?"
Wen Qi went to the first-aid kit to get ointment: "Of course it's a perfect score."
Upon hearing this, Xiao He was thrilled to find that Xiao He was surprisingly sensible in this regard and couldn't help but ask, "So, if I get a perfect score of 100, you'll agree to my request?"
Wen Qi sat down next to him, took his hand and applied the medicine to it, pretending to be clueless: "What did you agree to?"
"Of course she agreed to be with me."
"That way you can get to know me properly, not only from top to bottom, but also from the inside out." Xiao He looked down at her, his tone ambiguous.
"You should get a perfect score first. Okay, you can go up now." Wen Qi pretended not to understand, neither denying nor admitting it, and gently shook off his hand, starting to pack her things.
Looking at the burns, Xiao He felt satisfied; it was all worth it!
He thoughtfully asked, "When are you going up? I'll wait for you."
"What are you waiting for me for?"
"Have you forgotten that we moved into the master bedroom today?" Xiao He couldn't help but remind him loudly.
Wen Qi had really forgotten: "Uh, no, no, I put the rest in the refrigerator and then went upstairs."
"Well, let's go."
A moment later, Xiao He followed Wen Qi to her door. She had already told him she didn't need his help, but he insisted on coming over. Wen Qi looked helpless and said, "Really, you don't need it. I can tidy up by myself. It'll be quick."
Xiao He (the busy CEO) entered the room before her, looked left and right, and slowly opened his eyes to lie: "Then I'll watch you tidy up, anyway I don't have anything to do."
The saying "A good woman is afraid of a persistent man" is absolutely true.
Wen Qi is easily swayed by gentle persuasion but not by force. She's not afraid of Xiao He confronting her head-on, but she's terrified of him trying to gain her sympathy or pestering her relentlessly. Helpless, she could only compromise: "Alright then."
There weren't many things, and it was all packed in less than half an hour. The next second, Xiao and Yinqin helped carry it to the master bedroom.
Xiao He cleared out a large space in the master bedroom's walk-in closet overnight, so Wen Qi can just fill in the empty space now.
After tidying up, Wen Qi felt a little uneasy when she had some free time. She stood awkwardly to one side and stammered, "Um, I'll sleep on the sofa."
Xiao He knew that she definitely wouldn't want to sleep together at this stage, so he might as well try to gain her favor. He then lazily smiled and said, "How could I let you sleep on the sofa? I'll sleep on the sofa, and you can sleep on the bed. Mom has prepared several sets of bedding. Go to the dressing room and pick out one you like."
Looking at the large, soft sofa in the living room, which was probably even more comfortable than a bed, Wen Qi stopped hesitating and said, "Oh, okay then."
Wenqi chose a beige four-piece bedding set with a fresh floral pattern, which was perfect for a young girl. She quickly changed into it and then sat properly on the edge of the bed looking at her phone.
Seeing that she was fidgeting, Xiao He tried to tease her: "Go take a shower."
Wen Qi straightened her clothes and sat up straighter: "Ah, well, you go first, I'm not sleepy yet, I'll wash later."
