President, please comfort me.

Chapter 131 Don't Cry, Baby

Tang Chao did not leave. Instead, he tiptoed back to the bedside and even sat down on the edge of the bed.

His deep eyes stared intently at the bulging blanket in front of him, as if he could see Lanling hiding inside, crying, through the thin fabric.

At that moment, upon hearing the loud slam of the door, Lanling could no longer suppress the surging emotions within her. All her pretense crumbled instantly, and she collapsed onto the bed like a deflated balloon, bursting into a desperate cry.

Tears flowed like a burst dam, soaking the sheets beneath her. Lanling cried while tightly covering her mouth with her hands, afraid that her sobs would reach the ears of the man outside the door who no longer wanted her.

Seeing the quilt trembling incessantly, Tang Chao's heart clenched, and he could imagine how heartbroken Lanling must be at that moment.

However, despite feeling reluctant and pity, Tang Chao gritted her teeth and forced herself to sit still.

Time ticked by, each second feeling incredibly long in the Tang Dynasty. Finally, after two minutes, Lanling abruptly reached out and threw back the covers.

Her face was streaked with tears, her eyes were panicked and anxious, and she didn't even bother to tidy her messy hair before hurriedly trying to get out of bed.

Tang Chao swiftly and tightly embraced Lanling, gently rubbing her back to soothe her: "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I'm here, I won't leave."

"Waaah..." Lanling finally burst into tears. This time, she did not resist Tang Chao's embrace. Instead, she instinctively hugged him back, savoring his scent.

"Be good, don't cry."

"Waaaaah..." The more Tang Chao tried to comfort Lanling, the more she cried on his shoulder.

They created some distance between them. Tang Chao frantically wiped away her tears while gently coaxing her, "Don't cry, baby. You're tearing my heart out."

"Waaaaah... Tang Chao, you big bad guy, all you do is bully me, I'll never love you again." Soft hands patted Tang Chao's chest incessantly, Lanling looked at him with red eyes, pouring out her grievances and venting her dissatisfaction.

"Yes, I'm a big bad guy. I didn't keep my word to you, I made you sad and upset. I'm a complete bastard." Although this wasn't the first time Tang Chao had seen Lanling cry, she was crying so heartbrokenly that he felt his heart break.

He continued, "Zhou Luwen has been driven away and will never appear in our lives again."

"Lanlan, my darling, my little princess, my little darling, I love you, I only love you. Don't be angry with me anymore, okay? I'll never break my promise to you again, please forgive me this time, okay?" Tang Chao looked at Lanling affectionately, expressing his feelings to her in a deep and magnetic voice, and sincerely apologizing to her.

Lanling's anger stemmed from the fact that Tang Chao had been hugged and kissed by Zhou Luwen, and he hadn't pulled away in time. As for Tang Chao breaking his promise and not coming to Xiamen, if she were still bothered by that, she wouldn't have gone to the capital to find him the day before yesterday.

When Lanling heard Tang Chao say that Zhou Luwen hadn't kissed him, she was actually overjoyed, but for various reasons, she was holding a grudge, which is why she said one thing and meant another and sent him away.

But when Tang Chao really left, she was heartbroken, aggrieved, and filled with regret. That's when she cried, threw off the covers, and tried to rush out of bed to find him. To be honest, before starting this relationship, she had no idea she was such a sentimental woman.

After listening to Tang Chao's words, Lanling sniffed and finally stopped crying. Her ears also turned red without her realizing it.

Whether it was because of the Tang Dynasty's words or because of his current disheveled appearance, Lanling suddenly felt a little embarrassed.

She shifted her body slightly away from Tang Chao, no longer looking at him, and pouted, letting out a soft "humph": "But you still got hugged by her."

Tang Chao was amused by her little gesture, reached out and gently pinched her pretty nose, saying affectionately, "How can you be so cute?"

Lanling slapped Tang Chao's hand away. She wanted to roll her eyes at him, but because she had cried so much, her eyelids were too heavy to roll, so she could only glare at him fiercely.

Even a normal man couldn't stand that kind of look, let alone Tang Chao, who hadn't had sex for almost ten days and had even made his girlfriend angry and cry. He had finally managed to coax her back.

He explained, "We were close at the time, and I was just taking advantage of her by accident. Your boyfriend isn't a saint; he can't predict what a bad woman will do. But I promise I'll stay far away from women like that in the future and won't give them any chance."

"Baby, please forgive me."

Tang Chao's hand caressed Lanling's cheek again, his fingers lingering around her lips. He leaned down slowly, his eyes flashing with a fiery passion, his thin lips slightly parted, his breath carrying a scorching heat.

Realizing what Tang Chao was about to do, Lanling quickly interrupted, "Oh dear, I'm hungry."

It wasn't that Lanling didn't want to be close to him; in fact, she desperately wanted to. However, her face looked terrible, and she hadn't brushed her teeth or washed her face yet. She didn't want Tang Chao to kiss her like this.

"Hungry? I've already had someone prepare some food. Shall we go down and eat?" Hearing Lanling say she was hungry, Tang Chao's burning desire temporarily subsided. He almost forgot Lan Zhan's words that the little girl hadn't eaten in a long time.

"No, I don't want to go downstairs. I want to eat in the room. You like to study food, right? I want to eat what you make." Lanling hadn't forgotten the information she had gleaned from Xiao He through Wen Qi. She looked at Tang Chao longingly and pleaded with him in a soft, coquettish tone.

Feeling a long-lost connection, Tang Chao's heart softened: "Then you stay here and wait patiently. I'll go downstairs and cook some porridge. You haven't eaten in a long time, so have something warm to eat first. I'll make you something delicious later, okay?"

Lanling nodded: "Okay."

No sooner had Tang Chao stepped out of the room than Lanling leaped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom like lightning.

After brushing her teeth, washing her face, shampooing, taking a shower, and doing beauty and skincare, Lanling instantly seemed like a different person, returning to her original energetic, lively, and playful state.

However, her eyes were still a little red and swollen. Fortunately, Lanling had a magic tool for reducing swelling, so she took out the massager and started using it carefully.

Lan Zhan had been waiting anxiously downstairs. When he saw Tang Chao come down alone, he thought his jinx had come true and hurriedly asked, "Didn't you manage to coax him?"

Tang Chao didn't intend to keep them in suspense and truthfully replied, "Of course I've appeased her. I'll come down and cook some porridge for Lanlan."

Lan Zhan breathed a sigh of relief: "Aunt Zhou has already prepared it. You can just take it upstairs."

"She said she wanted to drink what I cooked." The kitchen was right there, and Tang Chao saw it at a glance, entering as easily as if he were in his own home.
