Crossing Over to Yamada Love

Chapter 9 Cui Shi was kicked out

As soon as Cui saw the newcomer, her eyes lit up. She crawled forward a few steps, grabbed the man's leg, and cried out, "Husband, you've finally come! You have to stand up for us! If you hadn't come, we would have been forced to our deaths!"

The man frowned at Cui, trying to shake off her arms that were wrapped around his legs, but Cui held on tightly, and he tried twice without success. "What are you howling about? Your parents are here. If you keep howling, get back inside!" he shouted at Cui.

Mo Lan looked up and sized up the newcomer. He was around 30 years old, with a fair complexion, long eyebrows, and big eyes. He resembled his second grandfather, Mo Jin, and could be considered a handsome middle-aged man.

This is her third uncle, Mo Changsheng. The last member of the Mo family besides her eldest uncle has finally appeared. Mo Lan decided that she must stay away from this third uncle from now on, because she was afraid of his indifferent eyes, which seemed too selfish and heartless.

"My dear husband, you don't know, Father said he wants to divorce me." Cui quickly revealed the reason for her wailing.

Mo Changsheng frowned and looked at Mo Jin. What was his father up to? His wife, though a bit lazy, had a large dowry. She was also very good to him. Therefore, he had never considered divorcing her.

"Chang Sheng, control your wife. Not only is she instigating the children to bully her sister, but she's also urging us to separate the family property. If she doesn't apologize properly today, send her back to her parents' home." Mo Jin stated his stance to his son.

“I didn’t teach Dalang and Ju to bully my sister. They just accidentally bumped into Lan while playing with her. It was my aunt who suggested dividing the family property. How can you put all the blame on me? This is bullying me because I’m a junior! Oh God, I don’t want to live anymore!”

Cui released her husband's legs and began to howl again.

Annoyed by her howling, Mo Changsheng kicked Cui Shi in the back. Cui Shi screamed and fell forward, landing face down on the ground.

"What are you howling about? Your father said you dare to talk back! You'll corrupt the child, I'll beat you to death!" Mo Changsheng scolded Cui Shi fiercely.

Cui raised her head, blood gushing from her nose and mouth; she must have hurt herself earlier.

Seeing Cui's face smeared with tears and blood, and hearing her screams, Mo Lan sighed inwardly. Truly, every pitiful person has their hateful side. Cui's current miserable state is inseparable from her usual conduct.

After recovering from their shock, Liu and Qiu rushed over to help Cui and wipe the blood from her face with a handkerchief.

"Husband, you, you actually hit me?" Cui asked, tears streaming down her face, looking at her husband in disbelief.

Then he shoved Liu and Qiu aside and said angrily to them, "I don't need your fake kindness. You're the ones who made me like this. I'm not done with you yet."

Mo Changsheng frowned as he looked at Cui Shi, his face darkening as he said to everyone, "Uncle, Aunt, are you satisfied now?"

Mo Lan gave Mo Changsheng a serious look. This third uncle was no simpleton. With just one sentence, he easily diverted Cui Shi's hatred towards him. Clearly, he was the one who kicked Cui Shi because he found her shameful, so how come it's now their fault, as if they forced him to kick her?

Looking into Cui Shi's eyes, Mo Lan realized that Cui Shi now regarded the main branch of the family as an enemy.

"Grandma, why did Uncle kick Auntie? Was it because Auntie looked so unsightly sitting on the ground that he felt ashamed? Then why did he ask Grandpa and Grandma if they were satisfied? Grandpa and Grandma didn't tell him to hit Auntie." Mo Lan asked Wang Shi with a puzzled expression.

Little brat, kicking someone and blaming it on our eldest son's family? No way! Although she didn't care that her third aunt hated them, she couldn't just use her third uncle's excuse without any explanation.

Wang glanced at Mo Lan, seeing her little face contorted in a grimace. She chuckled inwardly, but said aloud, "Lan'er, remember, a woman must never throw a tantrum in front of others, otherwise men will lose face. When you grow up, don't learn to behave like a shrew. Otherwise, if you get beaten, your family won't stand up for you; instead, they'll feel ashamed."

"Grandma, Lanlan remembers. I definitely won't learn it. And I won't let my sister learn it either." Mo Lan readily agreed, secretly amused. Grandma really understands her. Her words made it clear that Cui Shi's beating was because her own husband disgraced her, and had nothing to do with the main branch of the family. She implied that Cui Shi's actions were shrewish, even her own family felt ashamed and wouldn't support her, so she should just give up. Taking care of her injuries was the most important thing.

Hearing her aunt Wang's words, Cui's expression became complicated. She hated the eldest son's family; she had never taken them seriously. Yet, her husband had treated her this way today. She felt a chill in her heart.

"Changsheng, quickly help your wife up. Eldest son and second son's wives, take Changsheng's wife to wash up. Check where she's injured and whether you need to call a doctor." Seeing no one moving, Wang quickly made arrangements. Hearing Wang mention her injuries, Cui quickly wiped her nose and mouth with a handkerchief, looking at the blood-stained cloth. "It hurts, it hurts so much!" she cried out. She had been so focused on her hatred that she had forgotten the pain. Now, touching it, the pain was excruciating.

Mo Changsheng glanced coldly at Wang Shi and Mo Lan, then at Cui Shi, who was constantly crying out in pain, but he didn't move. Liu Shi and Qiu Shi, on the other hand, followed their mother-in-law's instructions and helped Cui Shi go downstairs to wash up.

After they left, Mo Mei silently went inside. She had probably been outside the whole time and hadn't come in for some reason.

"Grandpa, Grandma, shall we serve the meal now?" she asked Mo Quan and Wang Shi.

"You little brat, all you know is how to eat! Can't you see how badly your third aunt is suffering? And you still want to eat. Are you a pig? You'll starve to death if you don't eat!" Madam Feng was probably holding back a lot of anger, and now she finally found someone to vent it on.

"You're the pig, your whole family are pigs!" Mo Lan muttered to herself about Madam Feng. No, strictly speaking, their eldest branch of the family could also be considered Madam Feng's family. Wouldn't that include them in the insult? No, it should be changed to, "You're the pig, your second branch is all pigs, okay? Except for Second Grandfather."

"Grandma, not Second Aunt and Third Uncle, they kept saying they were hungry, so why are they calling my sister a pig now? My sister isn't a pig, she's so thin, she never gets enough to eat." Mo Lan said, pouting. Her aggrieved little face was heartbreaking.

"Lan, my dear, your sister is a good girl. Don't listen to what people are saying." After comforting Mo Lan, Wang called out to Mo Mei, "Mei, since your second aunt isn't hungry, you don't need to set out the meal. Sit on the kang and rest. It's pitiful that she's so young and already busy preparing dinner. Whoever is hungry can set out the meal later."

Mo Mei looked at Mo Lan and Wang Shi with sparkling eyes, then climbed onto the kang (a heated brick bed) with a joyful expression and sat down next to Mo Lan.

She used to be often criticized by her mistress and aunt, but her younger sister never spoke up for her, because she was also often scolded by the second wife's family. They were both used to it. Today, not only did her sister help her, but even her grandmother defended her, and she felt very content.
