Crossing Over to Yamada Love

Chapter 360 Proposal

The two returned to the Mo family. Xue Lingfeng took a carriage back; he needed to arrange matters related to his marriage proposal to the Mo family. Mo Lan washed her hands and face to see Xiao Si.

The little one is much older than when it was born. It also looks much stronger.

When Mo Lan teases him, he blows little bubbles and his little fingers move aimlessly.

Mo Lan put her fingers into his little hand, and his little hand began to grasp Mo Lan's fingers. Although he didn't use much force, he could feel it and kept moving.

Mo Lan found him amusing and gently stroked his little face with her hand. His skin was very smooth and felt comfortable to touch. However, Mo Lan dared not pinch his face, fearing that pinching it too much would cause him to develop a drooling habit.

Liu smiled gently, feeling extremely warm watching the two siblings play. Mo Lan and her siblings had no distance from their child; on the contrary, they were all very fond of this child. Although their child was the youngest, with the four of them supporting him when he grew up, he would surely do well.

"Lan'er, how is Erlang doing?" Although Liu Shi couldn't leave the house, she had heard about what was happening at home. While she was grateful to Bai Qing'er for helping her back then, she knew Bai Qing'er hadn't been kind and wasn't suitable to stay with the Mo family. Besides, the Mo family had been quite kind to her, only doing so because of Bai Qing'er's help.

"He's not in a good mood, and it'll probably take him a while to recover. I'll find some time to have a chat with him." Mo Lan didn't hide anything and spoke frankly with her aunt.

"Try to talk to him more; it would be hard for anyone to feel this way." Liu was also feeling a little sad.

"Auntie, it's alright. You should focus on recovering after your postpartum period. My brother has actually figured things out, he's just not fully recovered yet. Don't worry about him, he'll be fine in a few days." Mo Lan smiled at Liu Shi, Erlang had matured a lot after this incident.

"Then what about your sister? Still no news?" Liu asked Mo Mei again.

"It seems like not yet, but there's no rush. We'll see when it happens. Anyway, Aunt Qin and my brother-in-law aren't in a hurry, and my sister is fine, she's not under any pressure," Mo Lan said casually.

"Sigh, even though my sister-in-law and Xuan'er don't put pressure on Mei'er, Mei'er herself is probably not feeling well. I've been through this, so I understand how it feels," Liu sighed.

Mo Lan thought about it and realized it made sense. Her aunt couldn't give birth at that time, and her grandmother never put any pressure on her, but she was never at ease. She probably only breathed a sigh of relief after the fourth child was born.

"Well, my sister hasn't been married for a year yet, it's still a long way off." Mo Lan said casually, not going into too much detail, as Liu was in confinement after childbirth, and it wouldn't be good to think too much about it.

“That’s true, we’re not in a hurry.” Liu understood what Mo Lan meant and said no more.

They chatted for a while longer, then Mo Lan went out. After thinking for a moment, she went to the backyard and knocked on Er Lang's door.

Erlang held a book in his hand, but he wasn't reading it; his mind was preoccupied with recent events.

Upon seeing Mo Lan, he invited her to sit down and poured her a glass of water.

Mo Lan told him not to bother and to sit down, and the two chatted for a while.

"Brother, how is it?" Mo Lan asked.

"Lan'er, I'm such a useless brother. I'm not even as good as you in our family. You always take responsibility when something happens, but I... I think about it and I'm really so irresponsible. I'm a man, but I've been too well protected by my family all these years. I can't take responsibility when something happens. To put it nicely, I have a good temper; to put it bluntly, I'm just not like a man."

"Lan'er, don't worry. I am the eldest grandson of this family. I have responsibilities on my shoulders, and I bear the burden of the Mo family. I cannot allow myself to be weak. I will shoulder the responsibility of supporting the Mo family." Erlang's words were firm and resolute.

Mo Lan smiled. She knew Erlang would come to his senses. He was just kind, not stupid. It would be good for him to experience some things so that he could grow up and mature.

"Lan'er, are you angry with me?" Erlang asked, staring at the girl.

“We’re all family, why would I blame you? By the way, brother, how did you come to your senses during those days at the academy? What happened to you?” Mo Lan asked casually.

Erlang blushed slightly upon hearing his sister's question. He replied, "It's nothing. I've been reading for a few days, and my teacher has been giving me advice for a few days, so I've figured it out. Naturally, I came back."

Mo Lan was taken aback. If what he said was true, he shouldn't be blushing. He seemed a little embarrassed. Could it be that he had met some woman again?

“Brother, there’s no one else around right now. Tell me the truth, did you run into some woman again?” Mo Lan asked seriously.

Erlang was taken aback. His sister had figured it out? But this time the situation was different from last time. Last time, it was because he liked Bai Qing'er, but this time…

"Lan'er, I won't lie to you, I did see a woman. Here's what happened: this woman is named Chen Hongjuan, she's sixteen years old, and she's our teacher's niece. She lost both her parents when she was ten and grew up with our teacher."

The man's wife had passed away without leaving any children, and he had not remarried. Chen Hongjuan helped the man take care of his daily life, and the man had been looking for a suitable husband for her, but there had not been any particularly suitable ones.

Last year, my husband asked me privately if I was engaged, and he wanted to marry her to me because he thought I was honest and kind, and her niece had a gentle personality. He felt at ease entrusting her to me.

But because of Qing'er at that time, I refused the offer from the gentleman. Speaking of which, I've met Chen Hongjuan before. She's a good woman. Although she's not as pretty as Qing'er, her character is excellent.

I rejected my husband, and he was a little annoyed. I heard that later Hongjuan persuaded him, saying that marriage is not only a matter of fate, but also requires mutual consent. There is no point in forcing it. Since I have someone in my heart, then they should bless me. Why make things awkward?

When I got married, my husband even gave me a gift, which I heard was all thanks to Hongjuan. This time when I returned to the college, my husband asked me what happened. I didn't say anything, but I imagine my expression and mood at that time were not good, and my husband probably guessed it.

Afterwards, I went to find my husband, but he wasn't home. Hongjuan received me and gave me a good talking-to. Many of her words made a lot of sense. It was only after listening to her that I suddenly understood and made up my mind to divorce Qing'er.

After hearing about it, she was scolded by her husband, who said she shouldn't have met me, as it would damage her reputation.

She didn't explain, only saying that seeing me like that, she felt guilty if she didn't say something to comfort me. She said our relationship was aboveboard, nothing illicit, so she wasn't afraid. "Lan'er, in this respect, she's very much like you."

Erlang glanced at the girl as he spoke.

Mo Lan smiled. Her brother was quite popular. Bai Qing'er had just left, and now Chen Hongjuan had come. She wondered what kind of person she was.

"Brother, have you taken a liking to her?" Mo Lan decided to ask for clarification.

"Lan'er, to be honest, I only feel affection and gratitude towards her, not infatuation. I just think she's a girl of good character. I rejected her back then, but she saw I was down and was willing to offer advice, which is rare. I didn't think much else." Erlang didn't lie to his sister. He hadn't fallen for Chen Hongjuan. At least not like he had for Bai Qing'er back then.

“Oh, brother, Mother originally wanted to find you a partner, but I stopped her and said we'd talk about it again later, to give you some time to think. But Mother said she doesn't want you to find someone yourself, because she's worried. If you want to marry Chen Hongjuan again, I'm afraid Mother won't be able to accept it.”

"Lan'er, I'm not in the mood for that right now. Besides, it's probably impossible with Chen Hongjuan. I rejected her back then, and now that I've divorced my wife, it wouldn't be right for me to go looking for her again."

"I can't drag her down any further. Once you find her a good husband, I'll wish her all the best." Erlang's voice was somewhat low. He felt conflicted about suggesting Chen Hongjuan marry someone else, but he couldn't quite understand why.

Seeing his expression, Mo Lan found it amusing. He was at that age, full of youthful passion and enthusiasm. She'd let Xue Lingfeng inquire about Chen Hongjuan's character while he arrived; Erlang's marriage prospects were truly bleak.

The two talked for a while longer. Seeing that Erlang was alright, that he understood everything and had thought it all through, Mo Lan stopped worrying.

Xiao Si's one-month celebration was a lively affair. Many people came, the vegetable dishes were very well made, and by the time everyone left, their baskets were filled with kneaded flour and scallions. Everyone left happily.

The baby's one-month celebration had just ended when Xue Lingfeng's matchmaker arrived. They brought eight loads of betrothal gifts, a formal gesture of marriage proposal.

Although they already knew about Mo Lan and Xue Lingfeng's relationship, the Mo family members were still very excited when the time came.

Now, Qiu has no other thoughts but to prepare a dowry for her daughter.

Her daughter's dowry was to be carried into another courtyard, and it would be shameful to make such a nice courtyard look shabby. But what kind of dowry would be classy enough? She was having a headache.

"Mother, don't worry. Xue Lingfeng said not to spend any money at home. Save it for my brother, Sanlang, and Xiaosi. He'll prepare it and send it over." Mo Lan comforted her mother, seeing her headache.

“How can that be? It’s only right to provide a dowry for a daughter’s marriage. Whether the dowry is good or bad, it’s all from the bride’s family’s heart. How can we not prepare one? Also, stop calling him Xue Lingfeng. He has no manners.” Qiu Shi glared at Mo Lan as she finished speaking.

Mo Lan made a face at her, which made Qiu Shi both amused and exasperated.

"Alright, I've brought back so much stuff, it's enough. Don't say I'm favoring Lan'er. I'm going to give her half of my dowry, and the rest will be divided among Mei'er, Erlang, Sanlang, and Xiao Si. What do you all think?" Madam Wang asked for everyone's opinion.

"I don't want mine anymore, give it to my sister. I'm going to marry into the Xue family, and my dowry is plentiful, so I won't be looked down upon." Erlang expressed his willingness to give his share to his sister.

Mo Mei glanced at Chen Xuan, who nodded to her. She then said, "Give my share to Lan'er too. I don't want any more."

Saburo also shouted, "I don't want any either, give them all to my sister."

Little Si couldn't speak, but Liu Shi hugged him and said, "Mother, give it all to Lanlan. Little Si is still young. When he grows up, will he be afraid of not having any possessions?"
