Crossing Over to Yamada Love

Chapter 155 Confession Inside the Carriage

"Uncle Chen said that with some medicine, I'll be fine in a few days, it's nothing serious," Qiu replied to the man, then looked at the carriage.

"It's good that she's alright, it's good that she's alright. Oh, the two young masters of the Xue family heard from Dajun that Mo Lan's hand was poisoned, so they hurriedly drove over in their carriage, saying they wanted to take her into town to see a doctor." Mo Changhe explained to the group.

"Young Master Xue is a good person. He's so kind. Lan'er is alright. He, go and thank them quickly." Mo Quan was filled with gratitude for the two Xue brothers.

The carriage curtain was lifted, and Xue Lingfeng and Xue Lingyun appeared. Both of them looked at Mo Lan with concern in their eyes.

Xue Lingfeng frowned as he looked at Mo Lan's hand, which was still swollen despite the medicine.

"Get in the car, I'll take you into town." His voice was still cold, but there was a hint of urgency and emotion in it.

"No need, I've seen the doctor, it's nothing serious, I'll be fine in a couple of days. Let's go back to the shop. You haven't eaten yet, have you? Come and eat." Mo Lan declined his offer; she was fine now and didn't need to make another trip to town.

Xue Lingfeng glared at her. This girl was always going against him. Her skin was so swollen, and she still said she was fine? He didn't trust the doctors here. He had to take her to town to see a doctor before he could feel at ease.

Xue Lingyun glanced at it and said, "No rush for food. Lanlan, come with us to town. We'll see a doctor there, and only if they say it's nothing serious can we feel at ease. Uncle Mo, if you're worried, you and Steward Xue can ride behind us in the carriage. He knows which clinic we're going to."

"This?" Mo Changhe and the Mo family fell silent. They meant well, and it wouldn't be good to refuse. Besides, it would be safer to go and take a look.

“Zhong, He, go and call your uncle’s car. Go with Steward Xue and see if there’s anything wrong. If so, bring Lan back.” Mo Quan agreed.

“I’ll go too. Let’s go back first and make sure Lan’er is dressed warmly, it’ll be windy in the carriage.” Qiu was worried and wanted to go with them.

"Auntie, let Lanlan ride in the carriage. That way she won't be exposed to the wind. Don't worry, we'll take good care of Lanlan," Xue Lingyun said gently to Qiu Shi after hearing her words.

"This?" Qiu was taken aback. If they were to take a carriage, she wouldn't be able to go.

"Mother, it's nothing. I just went to check on things so that the young master of the Xue family could rest assured. They're worried that if something happens to me, I won't be able to prepare new food for them anymore. Don't worry," Mo Lan said with a smile, reassuring her mother.

"You silly girl, you're always talking nonsense. You'd better behave on the way. Don't cause trouble for Young Master Xue." Madam Qiu glared at her daughter and then instructed her.

"Then I'll have to trouble you two gentlemen. I'll leave Lanlan in your care." Madam Wang stepped forward and said politely to the Xue brothers, but a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes.

Mo Lan got into the carriage, while Mo Changhe and Steward Xue went to ride in Old Liu's carriage. The two carriages headed towards the town.

"Lanlan, how could you be so careless? Don't go up the mountain again. How can anyone feel at ease with you like this?" Xue Lingyun looked at Molan's hand, breaking the silence in the car, and spoke first.

After Mo Lan got into the carriage, she found the interior quite spacious, so she sat in a corner, keeping her distance from the two brothers. When she heard Xue Lingyun's question, Mo Lan frowned. Was Xue Lingyun showing concern?

"It's alright, I'm tough, getting bitten is common, I'll be fine in a couple of days, Young Master Xue, don't worry." Mo Lan said nonchalantly.

"How could I not care! We just entered the cubicle, and Qiu Dajun said your hand was swollen so badly, that you were poisoned. Do you know that? His words scared me half to death. If anything happens to you, I, I..." Xue Lingyun looked at Mo Lan with a look in her eyes, but the rest of her words remained unspoken.

Mo Lan looked at him and felt a chill. What was this all about? His concern was too obvious; it shouldn't be like this.

Xue Lingfeng had remained silent until he heard Xue Lingyun's words. A glint flashed in his eyes, and he closed them briefly. When he opened them again, he was calm once more.

"Young Master Xue, please don't scare me. It's normal for farmers to stumble and fall. Who goes into the mountains without getting bitten? Not to mention mosquitoes, it's normal to be bitten by poisonous snakes. There are many snakes and insects in the mountains, these are all common occurrences." Mo Lan pretended not to understand the meaning behind his words and said it casually.

“Lanlan, you can’t go there anymore. This mountain is too dangerous. I can’t rest easy with you, and you always run around. Lanlan, how about I bring you into the manor?” Xue Lingyun said, looking at Molan with hope.

"Why are we talking about this again? I've said before that I don't want to be a maid." Mo Lan's eyes flickered. Xue Lingyun, don't go on like this.

"If you're not going to be a maid, how could I possibly let you be a maid? Lanlan, can't you tell? I like you."

Xue Lingyun's words and expression revealed his feelings for Mo Lan. After he finished speaking, Mo Lan and Xue Lingfeng exchanged a glance. What was wrong with this guy? Was this a confession? There were other people in the car, how could he just say he liked her?

"Haha, Young Master Xue, you're such a kind person. You knew my hand hurt and you were just teasing me. And believe it or not, it really worked! My hand feels much better." Mo Lan laughed, taking it as a joke.

"Lanlan, I'm serious, I'm not joking. Fifth Brother is here too, he can testify for me, I really like you." Xue Lingyun hurriedly pulled Xue Lingfeng in, asking him to be her witness.

Mo Lan stopped smiling and frowned. Was Xue Lingyun only happy when he dragged her into this?

"Young Master Xue's offer is kind, and I appreciate it, but I am a peasant girl and cannot enter the Xue family. Our statuses are not a good match, and I do not wish to be a concubine. Young Master Xue, please do not say any more." Mo Lan refused Xue Lingyun.

"Who said I'd make you a concubine? The person I, Xue Lingyun, love is someone I'll marry. How could I possibly wrong you? Lanlan, may I come to your house to propose?" Xue Lingyun looked at Molan with deep affection and tenderness.

"No." Mo Lan refused outright. Both brothers were problematic. She didn't want to get involved in their feuds and entanglements. Did they think she was stupid? Did they think she would happily marry them just because they said they wanted to?

"Why?" Xue Lingyun couldn't believe that Mo Lan had rejected him, and her eyes showed some hurt.

"Because she accepted my proposal." Before Mo Lan could speak, Xue Lingfeng answered. His words stunned Mo Lan and Xue Lingyun.

Fifth Brother actually proposed? When? Was it the time I missed? Knowing his personality, that's unlikely. Could it be that he's really fallen for this girl? Xue Lingyun's mind raced.

"Fifth Brother, stop joking. You know that Xiao Shi and I have always liked Lanlan. I didn't want to say it because of Xiao Shi, afraid that people would say that we brothers are fighting over a woman. But Xiao Shi can't marry her, and Lanlan is like this, so I really can't keep quiet. I want to marry her and take good care of her and cherish her. Fifth Brother, there's no need to test me. I'm sincere." Xue Lingyun said to the two of them very seriously.

"I'm serious, Seventh Brother. Don't bring Lanlan into the feuds of the manor. She doesn't need to bear these burdens. She's different from us; she can't handle them. Everything in the manor has nothing to do with her." Xue Lingfeng stared at Xue Lingyun, his eyes cold.

"Fifth Brother." Xue Lingyun called out in surprise, as if he didn't understand Xue Lingfeng's words.

"Please stop, I beg you. I'm just a peasant girl. I don't have such a heart. I don't like fighting. I like a peaceful life. Everything you have to do with me is none of my business. I won't go to the Xue mansion. You two brothers can find someone else to fight with. Is that alright?"

Mo Lan was somewhat angry. She wasn't stupid; she had long known that although Xue Lingfeng and Xue Lingyun were close, they weren't of one mind. Although Xue Lingyun always smiled gently, his thoughts were far from simple as they appeared; he was a smiling tiger. He and Xue Lingfeng had conflicts and struggles, but what did that have to do with her? She wasn't the target of their struggles, and she wouldn't get involved.

"Lanlan, if you don't like the Xue family mansion, I can buy a house in town for you to live in first. When you grow up, I will come to marry you, and after we get married, I will move in too. We won't go to the Xue family mansion. We can also buy a neighboring house and bring your family here so you can see each other often. How about that?" Xue Lingyun stopped looking at Xue Lingfeng and stared at Molan, speaking with deep affection.

"Xue Lingyun, you don't understand me. Maybe you have a little bit of affection for me, but it all stems from Fifth Master's attitude towards me. If I hadn't had contact with Fifth Master, no matter how different I am, you probably wouldn't even glance at me. Let me say it again, I have no say in your affairs. Don't use me as a bargaining chip. If I had to choose between you three brothers, I would rather choose Little Fatty because he is simple-minded."

Mo Lan was so angry that she bluntly said, "It's your business if you, Xue Lingyun, like to compete with your fifth brother. I'm not a toy or object. I have my own thoughts, and you can't just take me away from me."

As she finished speaking, Xue Lingfeng looked at Mo Lan seriously. This girl saw through him so clearly; she had never been deceived by him.

"Xiao Shi can't marry you," Xue Lingyun said sadly.

"I know, I was just using him as an example, I didn't say I wanted to marry him." Mo Lan rolled her eyes at him.

"Lanlan, I admit that I started paying attention to you because of Fifth Brother. I didn't mean to compete with Fifth Brother. It's just that Fifth Brother's taste has always been different. I just wanted to see what was so special about the person who caught his attention."

Gradually, I've become attracted to you too. At first, I didn't think about these things, but it wasn't until recently, when you were getting engaged, that I realized I'd actually fallen for you. I wasn't planning to say these things. Marriage is a major life event, usually decided by parents. But my fifth brother and I made our own decisions, and I can see you're a decisive person. That's why I'm saying this today. I'm serious, and I suspect my fifth brother is too. Lanlan, think about it, is it alright if my fifth brother and I compete fairly?" Xue Lingyun's smile faded, her expression becoming serious and earnest.
