Rebirth and Rewriting Fate

Chapter 71 Is he crazy?

"Are those children coming with us?" Gu Ruoxiao asked.

Oh right, there's still danger around Yun Chu, how could she forget? "No, let them go alone. It's too dangerous for them to follow me," she emphasized.

"Okay, I'll make arrangements."

Gu Ruoxiao lay on the bed, recalling what Chiwu had reported that afternoon.

"Sir, the person who offered a reward for capturing Miss Yun Chu has been caught and is being held in the Dark Guard Camp. The reward has now been withdrawn."

"who is it?"

"It was a servant who used to serve the Fourth Prince. He probably overheard about the treasure map by accident and wanted to make a fortune, which is why he was so generous in recruiting experts from the martial arts world."

Gu Ruoxiao nodded.

"Should we tell Miss Yun Chu about this?" Chi Wu asked in a low voice.

"No need."

Two days later, Yun Chu's injuries had almost healed, and she planned to leave Murong Manor. The Murong couple were also returning to Lianghe. Hong Bo, however, felt guilty for not taking good care of Murong Manor and decided to stay and guard it.

Outside the villa, Shen Yuezhen held onto Yun Chu with genuine reluctance.

Yun Chu was giving instructions to Zi Su, "I have some personal matters to attend to, so I won't be returning to the capital with you. Take this letter and give it to Nan Rao, the manager of Shili Pu. She will arrange everything. Don't worry, those guards are all top-notch experts; you'll be fine."

Zisu hesitated, and the children beside her all lowered their heads, their faces downcast, their eyes filled with disappointment and worry and fear about the future.

"Why are you all looking so sad? We'll see each other again in a few days. Don't worry, I won't abandon you. You said you trusted me, so show me." Yun Chu said with a smile.

“Alright, Madam, we trust you. We will wait for you in the capital.” Zisu nodded.

After seeing off the two carriages, it was time to say goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Murong.

Shen Yue's eyes were really red. Yun Chu hugged her and said, "Maybe we'll meet again someday!"

"Yes, yes, I will definitely come to the capital to see you when I have time. You should also come to Lianghe to see me when you have time," Shen Yuezhen instructed.

Murong Yu took something out of his pocket and handed it to Shen Yuezhen. Shen Yuezhen took it and put it into Yun Chu's hand. Yun Chu looked closely and saw that it was a jade pendant. The jade pendant was warm and lustrous like jade, with a delicate texture like solidified fat, and the carving was extremely exquisite. It was composed of two jade plaques, which were intertwined and leaned against each other. The characters "Murong" and "Huang Shen" were engraved on each plaque.

"This is a token between our Huang and Shen families and the Murong family. If you need anything, just take it to us, and we will definitely help you," Shen Yuezhen promised, her smile tinged with tears.

"Okay, I'll accept it." Yun Chu hugged the crybaby again. "I hope our Yuezhen will be happy every day from now on and have no worries."

And so the two carriages parted ways at the entrance of Murong Manor, heading in different directions. Two carriages, two directions, each carrying different stories and journeys, departing from this meeting point of Murong Manor, heading towards their respective futures, hoping for their reunion in the future.

Yun Chu felt a warmth in her heart as she sat in the carriage. It was rare to meet a friend who treated her so sincerely; it was wonderful. She took out the jade pendant from her bosom and placed it in Gu Ruoxiao's hand, then closed her eyes; she was a little tired.

"For me?" Gu Ruoxiao asked, slightly puzzled.

"Yes, it was originally intended for you," Yun Chu said with her eyes closed.

Gu Ruoxiao looked at the tokens from the two major powers in his hand, then at the person resting against the carriage wall, a vague, unreadable expression spreading across his face. He was filled with unease, thinking, "Yun Chu, what am I going to do with you?"

That evening, they checked into the inn. Mo Han brought dinner into the room and then left.

Before Gu Ruoxiao and Yun Chu could even take a few bites, Chiwu barged in.

"Master, I have something to report!" Chiwu said urgently.

Gu Ruoxiao looked up. If it weren't for an urgent matter, Chiwu wouldn't have barged in like this. He nodded and said to Yun Chu, "You eat first, I'll be right back."

Yun Chu nodded.

Gu Ruoxiao got up and left the room. "What happened?"

"Miss Shangguan is in trouble! Our informant reports that Miss Shangguan went to Luoshui to find General Shen, but encountered danger on the way. All the guards she brought with her were killed, and she has disappeared without a trace."

"Have you found out who did it?" Gu Ruoxiao asked, frowning.

"They must be from Dongchi."

Gu Ruoxiao clenched her fist. "Go and summon half of the secret guards. They will leave with me later."

"Yes, I will take your orders."

When Gu Ruoxiao returned, Yun Chu was almost full.

"Eat quickly, the food is getting cold," she said.

"I have to go out for a while later, and I'll be back in a few days," Gu Ruoxiao said. "Don't worry, the person who issued the bounty has been caught. It was the fourth brother's servant. The bounty has been withdrawn, and you're safe." He explained.

"Okay." Yun Chu nodded. If he didn't want to say more, then she had no right to ask any more questions.

Gu Ruoxiao did not appear again that night, and Yun Chu tossed and turned in bed, finding it difficult to fall asleep.

After breakfast the next day, Chiwu came in and said, "Miss Yun Chu's carriage is ready and we can depart at any time."

Yun Chu nodded.

A moment later, Chengfeng stepped in and asked, "When are we leaving?"

Yun Chu glanced at Chi Wu, then at Cheng Feng, and behind her stood Mo Han. She couldn't help but frown.

"Why are you all here?"

"Yes, young lady, I am under orders to protect your safety."

Three top experts stayed behind to protect her? And there's a bunch of guards outside. What exactly is Gu Ruoxiao up to?

"What exactly did your master go to do?" Yun Chu asked sternly.

The guards in front of them all lowered their heads and remained silent.

Yun Chu guessed that since Gu Ruoxiao hadn't said anything, it was very likely related to Shangguan Wan'er. She carefully recalled whether something had happened around this time in her previous life, perhaps it was some kind of border incursion in Dongchi?

"Has something happened to Shangguan Wan'er?" Yun Chu asked bluntly.

Chengfeng looked up at Yun Chu in surprise.

"Have you found out who it is?" Yun Chu needed to confirm her suspicions.

"A spy from Dongchi," Mo Han behind him had no choice but to say.

As expected, Yun Chu was deeply shocked.

"How many people did he take with him?" Yun Chu asked with her eyes closed.

"Don't worry, young lady, I've left half of my men to protect your safety," Chengfeng hurriedly replied.

"Has Gu Ruoxiao gone mad?!" she shouted, opening her eyes and startling the three experts, who exchanged bewildered glances.

Chengfeng wondered to himself, was Miss Yun Chu angry because Master went to rescue Miss Shangguan? He looked at Chiwu, who glared at him.

His next sentence dispelled his opinion.

"You two, immediately take all the remaining guards to support and escort your master," Yun Chu ordered.

"But the master gave us a strict order: to protect your safety," Chiwu said urgently.

"Bullshit orders!" Yun Chu cursed. "He is your master. Nothing is above him except your own lives."

Chiwu and Chengfeng exchanged a glance but remained silent.
