Rebirth and Rewriting Fate
Chapter 229 One man and one woman, making a perfect couple.
Soon after, a loud cry of a newborn baby rang out from the delivery room. The sound was like heavenly music, heralding the arrival of a new life.
"It's a boy! Congratulations, Your Highness and Your Highness! It's a little prince!" came the midwife's joyful voice.
The midwife carefully cleaned the newborn baby, then wrapped him tightly in a soft blanket, as if cherishing the most precious treasure in the world. She held the child with joy, her steps light as she walked to Gu Ruoxiao's side, her face radiating undisguised excitement and blessings.
But Gu Ruoxiao ignored him completely, his gaze fixed on Yun Chu lying on the bed, his eyes filled with deep affection and tenderness. He kept calling her name, "Yun Chu, wake up? Are you alright?"
Yun Chu was almost exhausted. Sweat poured down her face like beads from a broken string, soaking her clothes. Her face was so pale that it was almost bloodless. She looked at Gu Ruoxiao, too exhausted to speak.
Gu Ruoxiao's eyes were filled with heartache and anxiety, her lips pressed tightly together. The midwife's voice came from behind, "Your Highness, please hold on a little longer, we can see the other child's head."
Yun Chu had lost track of time; it was as if the whole world had descended into chaos, with only waves of pain crashing against her limits. Her hands gripped Gu Ruoxiao's arm tightly, her nails digging almost into his flesh, leaving deep, bloody marks. Gu Ruoxiao, however, seemed oblivious, gripping her hands even tighter and continuing to talk to her.
After a long while, Yun Chu's consciousness began to blur, and the pain seemed to gradually become numb. She didn't know how she had endured all of this, but when she finally heard a clear and loud cry of a baby, all the exhaustion and pain seemed to be released at that moment, and she was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
"Congratulations, Your Highness and Your Highness, it's a little princess."
Two midwives stood behind Gu Ruoxiao, holding the baby. They wanted the prince to see or hold the child, but the man in front of them ignored them, remaining motionless and focused on the princess.
Seeing this, Nanrao quickly led the midwives to the nursery next door.
Yun Chu was utterly exhausted; she didn't even have the strength to lift a finger. She looked at the man in front of her, whose eyes were red from worry.
"Ruoxiao, I'm a little sleepy." Yun Chu's voice was barely audible.
"No, you can't sleep." His voice suddenly rose, filled with panic.
Yun Chu suddenly remembered that when she was about to die, he looked at her in the same way, and now he was doing the same thing; he was afraid.
"Don't be afraid, I'm just tired," Yun Chu explained.
Gu Ruoxiao shook his head, disbelieving, and tightened his grip on Yun Chu's hand.
She smiled at him. "Don't be afraid, I won't die."
"Uncle, Uncle!" Gu Ruoxiao called out anxiously.
Fortunately, the delivery room had been prepared, and Old Master Wei stepped in.
After taking her pulse, Old Master Wei reassured Gu Ruoxiao, "Don't worry, she's just exhausted from giving birth and needs to rest. Let her sleep."
Gu Ruoxiao stared intently at Yun Chu, her eyes filled with endless tenderness and determination. "Then you must wake up. I'll stay with you."
"Okay," Yun Chu replied softly, her voice carrying a strange sense of reassurance, as if responding to his promise. She slowly closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep; she was truly exhausted.
The sun rose slowly outside, and golden sunlight streamed through the window, filling the entire room. It was a new day, a new beginning, and new hope.
When Yun Chu woke up, she was back in her original bedroom, where Gu Ruoxiao was sitting by the bed watching her.
"I'm awake, I'm alright," she smiled at him.
"Hmm. How are you feeling? Are you alright?" he asked, smoothing the hair from her forehead.
Yun Chu shook her head. "I'm fine. How does the baby look? Isn't he/she cute?"
"I don't know." Gu Ruoxiao lowered her eyes and tucked the blanket in.
"Huh?" Yun Chu exclaimed in surprise, her beautiful eyes widening. "You haven't met them yet, have you?"
"Hmm," Gu Ruoxiao replied without changing her expression.
At this moment, Yun Chu didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but her heart was filled with warmth.
"Let's not have any more children, okay?" Gu Ruoxiao said solemnly, holding Yun Chu's hand.
Yun Chu looked at him intently for a while. She knew that this fearless man was genuinely frightened because she had given birth to his child. She smiled at him and said, "Then you don't want me anymore?"
"I didn't," Gu Ruoxiao blurted out, then realized what Yun Chu was talking about. He hesitated and said, "Then let's be more careful in the future."
Yun Chu smiled. She felt that everything was predestined and she wouldn't force it. She changed the subject, "Where's the child? I'd like to see him."
Gu Ruoxiao called out, "Nanrao, Zhuling!"
Gu Ruoxiao thought Yun Chu had promised him she wouldn't have any more children, but three years later, when he was in the delivery room with Yun Chu again, Yun Chu saw a resentful look on Gu Ruoxiao's face. Gu Ruoxiao was filled with regret; how could he have agreed to let Yun Chu have the child when he found out she was pregnant? Seeing his regretful expression, Yun Chu quickly comforted him, "Just this once, there won't be a next time, don't be afraid." But Gu Ruoxiao was thinking that he would have to be even more careful in the future. However, that's a story for later.
Two experienced midwives, their faces full of kindness, carried the two newborn babies into the bedroom, filling the air with the joy and warmth of new life.
Yun Chu carefully took a baby from the midwife. She lowered her head and carefully examined the tiny life. The baby's features were not yet fully developed, its skin was wrinkled, and its rosy little face had a pair of tightly closed eyes. Occasionally, it would make some unconscious expressions.
She blinked intently. The newborn baby looked... well... Yun Chu thought, oh well, she'd wait until it grew bigger and see.
Yun Chu looked up at Gu Ruoxiao, who was sitting to the side, staring blankly at his child. His face was filled with the joy and excitement of becoming a father for the first time, but also mixed with a bit of nervousness and helplessness.
Yun Chu smiled gently and tenderly handed the child in her arms to him, saying, "Hold him."
Gu Ruoxiao held the child stiffly, his hands trembling with tension, and he dared not move.
Yun Chu took the other child. She approached Gu Ruoxiao and looked at the two children, a boy and a girl. Although their features hadn't fully developed, it was already clear that they looked quite similar, both having small noses and tightly pursed lips. She wondered what they would look like in the future.
"Didn't you name them?" Yun Chu asked.
"Yes, the man's name is Yichen, and the woman's name is Yiyao."
“Okay, Gu Yichen, Gu Yiyao. May your future be as vast as the sky and your future as beautiful as jade trees in a forest.” Yun Chu smiled.
These are the parents' beautiful expectations and wishes for them.
