The leader was named Zhao San, the most experienced hunter in Dahe Village.

At first, Lanxiang didn't know that her short-lived husband had died from falling into a trap. On the day her husband died, these people went back and told the villagers that he had been eaten by a tiger and his body was never found.

She learned the truth a few days later when she overheard Zhao San talking to another person.

However, when she told her in-laws the truth, they not only didn't believe her, but also insisted on blaming her for her husband's death, claiming that she was cursed and had brought misfortune upon their son. After severely beating and scolding her, they kicked her out of the house.

These people were all present on the day she was beaten.

They knew the truth of the matter, yet remained indifferent as they watched her being beaten, scolded, and driven away by her in-laws. This shows that these people are all vicious and cruel.

Recalling the past, Lanxiang grabbed Shen Man and whispered to her, "Man'er, they outnumber us and are all men. We can't handle them. Let's not meddle in other people's business."

Shen Man was unwilling to give up. She knew that if they were allowed to take Hu Xiaoliu and his family away like this, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"Mother, I can't ignore this." Shen Man looked at Lanxiang with a firm gaze. "Although I'm just a child, I know right from wrong. If they take Hu Xiaoliu's family away in front of me today, I'm afraid I won't be able to live with myself. Mother, I have to go out and deal with them to buy Hu Xiaoliu and the others more time to recover their strength."

Lanxiang wanted to persuade her again, but Shen Man had already emerged from the bushes and strode towards the group of people.

“You can’t go hunting those tigers!” Shen Man approached them and shouted.

Her sudden appearance startled all the hunters.

"Where did this little brat come from? She scared the hell out of me! If you dare to meddle, I'll kill you too!"

Zhao San looked Shen Man up and down, then threatened her fiercely.

"I'm determined to handle this today." Shen Man was not intimidated by his threat at all, looking at them with a firm gaze and speaking with a strong voice.

"Young lady, this is none of your business. Go home!" Another hunter came out to persuade Shen Man, trying to make her back down.

However, Shen Man was not intimidated by his threat. Instead, she straightened her back and looked directly into Zhao San's eyes.

"What if I insist on interfering?" Shen Man's voice was calm and firm, revealing an undeniable power.

Zhao San was stunned by Shen Man's imposing aura and didn't know how to respond for a moment. He hadn't expected that such a young girl would have such a powerful presence and determination.

"Where are your parents? Who sent you to this remote mountain forest all by yourself? Are you a human or a ghost?"

“I can handle this matter myself; there’s no need to ask my mother,” Shen Man continued. “All things have a spirit; you cannot kill innocent people indiscriminately.”

Zhao San and the others looked at each other and exchanged glances.

“Little sister, we’re doing this to survive. Do you know that all the crops in our village have been flooded? If we can’t catch those tigers to sell for money, our families will starve to death!” One of them told Shen Man about their village’s plight, trying to elicit her sympathy.

“You can make a living in other ways, why hurt these animals?” Shen Man retorted.

“Other ways? You make it sound so easy. What else can we do besides farming and hunting?” another person said.

Shen Man thought for a moment and said, "I know of a kind of herb that can treat some diseases, and there is a large market demand for it. If you are willing, you can learn from me how to grow this herb and use it to earn a living."

Zhao San and the others were somewhat tempted, but still hesitant.

Seeing this, Shen Man continued, "This way, we can not only protect animals, but also provide you with a stable income. Why not do it?"

Hunting is a very risky job; one wrong move and you could lose your life. If they could find a job that was both lucrative and risk-free, they would be willing to give it a try.

However, they weren't very interested in Shen Man's suggestion to grow medicinal herbs.

Firstly, they had never dealt with medicinal herbs before and did not know their prices; secondly, they did not believe that a child as young as Shen Man could grow any medicinal herbs.

Therefore, as soon as Shen Man finished speaking, the man who wanted the tiger skin immediately said to Zhao San, "Third Brother, there's no way to make money as quickly as hunting by planting herbs. Don't listen to this little girl's nonsense and delay our important business."

"That's right, Third Brother, let's hurry up and catch the tiger." The others chimed in.

Shen Man was not discouraged; she knew that changing these people's minds was no easy task.

“I can teach you how to identify and harvest wild herbs first. If you can make money, then we can consider large-scale cultivation. This way, you won’t be at too much risk,” Shen Man explained patiently.

“We have no interest in growing those damn herbs. You little girl, go back to where you came from and don’t block our way!” One of them walked up impatiently and rudely shoved Shen Man.

Shen Man almost fell to the ground after being pushed by him.

Seeing this, Lanxiang, who was hiding not far away, immediately ran out and helped Shen Man up: "You guys have gone too far! A bunch of grown men bullying a child, have you no shame!"

"Hey, where did this woman come from? She's quite pretty," one of them said with a frivolous laugh.

"Are you blind? Isn't this the widow who was kicked out of Zhao Xiaoqing's house?" Zhao San patted the man's head and said to him.

"Yes, I remember now, her name seems to be... Lanxiang!"

"Lanxiang, I heard you've been doing quite well in Xiaoyao Village these past few years. Is this little girl your child? You're a widow, how could you have given birth to a child? Whose child is it? Could it be that dead Zhao Xiaoqing's?"

Lanxiang's face turned bright red with anger upon hearing this.

"You still have the nerve to mention Zhao Xiaoqing? Don't you know how he died? You still dare to come into this forest? Aren't you afraid he'll come after you?"

"Of course we know Zhao Xiaoqing was killed by a tiger," another person said nonchalantly. "With so many of us, why would we be afraid of a ghost like him?"

From their conversation, Shen Man already knew that Lan Xiang knew them.

"You beasts!" Lanxiang trembled with rage. "Zhao Xiaoqing is bewitched! That's why he believed you and went hunting with you in the mountains!"

"Lanxiang, it's been so long, why hold a grudge?" Zhao San said with a smile. "Why don't we go all the way today and send you to reunite with Zhao Xiaoqing? What do you say?"

"What do you mean by that?" Lanxiang wanted to say something more, but Shen Man stopped her.

"What do you mean? Hahaha, brothers, tie this mother and daughter up and send them to the tiger's den as bait!"

Shen Man was shocked; she never expected these people to be so vicious. She gripped Lanxiang's hand tightly, trying to find a chance to escape.

However, the crowd quickly stepped forward and tied them up tightly.

"Let us go!" Lanxiang struggled, but to no avail.

Zhao San sneered, "Don't waste your energy, just wait to become a tiger's meal."

"Hmph, Mother, it seems the old saying is true: you can't persuade a suicidal ghost with kind words. Since they want to die, let them die!"

Shen Man estimated that the tigers had mostly recovered from the poison, and that these people were dreaming if they wanted to catch them.

"Little girl, don't try to play tricks on me, I don't believe you! Instead of wasting your time, you should think about what you want to be reincarnated as in your next life!"

As soon as Zhao San finished speaking, a tiger's roar came from not far away.

He and the others were immediately terrified. "What's going on? Why are there tiger roars here? Weren't those tigers sick?"

"It must be the tigers! Run!" someone screamed.

But it was too late for them to escape. Four or five ferocious tigers leaped out of the woods and pounced straight at them.

Zhao San and his men were terrified and scattered in panic, but the tigers were too fast and soon caught up with them. A bloody massacre ensued...

Soon, the hunters were all injured. They stared in horror at the tiger in front of them, filled with regret. If only they had listened to Shen Man's advice!

At that moment, a tiger suddenly pounced on Zhao San, its sharp claws easily tearing his clothes and slicing his skin, instantly staining his clothes red with blood.

Zhao San cried out and fell to the ground, groaning in pain.

Another tiger grabbed a hunter's arm, flung him away, and threw him to the ground with a thud. The hunter clutched his severed arm, his face contorted with pain and terror.

"Xiao Liu, just teach them a lesson, don't actually kill them!" Shen Man called out at the right moment.

She knew the tigers' strength; if they really wanted to kill, the hunters would be no match for them.
