With a creak, the door slammed shut.

Tao Jingyang jumped down and heard Fan Xian repeatedly assure her that he would never sell again, he really would never sell again.

Even so, Tao Jingyang still threw out the dagger. With a "thud," the dagger was thrown vertically and stuck into the wooden table.

"Forgiving you is impossible." Tao Jingyang's words, however, seemed to Fan Xian not to be completely irreconcilable.

Fan Xian understood immediately and continued, "Unless...?"

Tao Jingyang was secretly delighted to see how cooperative he was: "Unless you give me two bottles of poison, the kind that won't cause any harm but will increase my body's drug tolerance."

Fan Xian took a moment to react, then looked at her with a slightly incredulous expression: "You're using it yourself?"

"Yes.

"But to be honest, I've been thinking of giving it to Li Chengze as well." Tao Jingyang didn't hide his thoughts from Fan Xian.

Fan Xian listened, somewhat reluctant, but his body still obeyed as he went to prepare the medicine.

He also reminded Tao Jingyang that while continuous poisoning and detoxification could indeed give one some resistance to the poison.

However, this process is extremely painful, and without exceptional detoxification skills, one could very well die.

"I am Professor Fei's student. I dare to eat these poisons because I know how to cure them myself."

"Please don't eat anything recklessly, or you'll die from it, and then I'll be all alone again."

Tao Jingyang listened to his instructions and just kept giving perfunctory "uh-huh" responses.

It wasn't until I heard his last sentence, something about "being all alone again," that I finally spoke up: "Go away, stop spouting nonsense."

In the short time it took them to exchange those few words, Fan Xian had already prepared both the poison and the antidote.

They were sorted into small porcelain bottles and labeled one by one.

Later, he wrote a prescription for Tao Jingyang, telling him which bottle to start drinking, how long to take the antidote, and so on.

He also warned Tao Jingyang that if anything unexpected happened, he should take the medicine in the bottle with the gold cap, as this medicine could basically cure any common poison.

However, there are some side effects. Generally speaking, if you can bear it yourself, or have time to see a doctor, or even find Fan Xian, you should not take it.

Upon hearing this, Tao Jingyang asked Fan Xian three times what the side effects of this "panacea" were.

But Fan Xian refused to budge, insisting he would never say anything, only warning Tao Jingyang once again that he should never take this "golden medicine" unless absolutely necessary.

This Fan Xian is playing cryptic with me.

Tao Jingyang inwardly grumbled, but outwardly he still gave Fan Xian some face, after all, he had given so much medicine.

"Then thank you, Master Fan. Also, since you didn't write the book, then forget about it."

I knew it! With so many things to do every day, how could you possibly have time to write a book?

"Alright, I'm leaving. See you at the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests tomorrow night." Tao Jingyang took out a small cloth bag he had prepared in advance and put all the bottles and jars on the table into it.

"Ah, you came prepared in advance?" Fan Xian clicked his tongue in amazement at Tao Jingyang's actions.

Then, realizing what he meant, he asked, "Are you also going to the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests for the banquet tomorrow night?"

Tao Jingyang finished packing, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and said:

"Yes, when His Majesty visited the Second Prince's residence, he also invited me, citing my bravery in fighting the Northern Qi assassins as the reason."

Her actions did not escape Fan Xian's notice. Fan Xian suddenly went back to get another medicine and handed it to Tao Jingyang:

"This... isn't a good reason for the two of us wearing this. The new one I'm giving you is a sleeping potion; it works whether you take it orally or smell it."

If you encounter any danger tomorrow, just use this bottle.

Tao Jingyang held the bottle of sleeping pills in his hand, remaining silent for a moment. [Tsk, I don't want to owe anyone a favor...]

He then pulled out a Transcending-Rank Pill given to him by the system from his sleeve, held it between two fingers, and handed it to Fan Xian.

Fan Xian took the "white pill" that Tao Jingyang handed him and asked, "What is this...?"

"This is something that can increase combat power in a short time. As for how much it can increase... well, it's probably about one rank."

If you ever encounter danger and feel like you're going to die, taking one of these pills might save your life.

"Side effects... like dizziness, loss of appetite, seeing stars, etc. I don't know the specifics, but I didn't experience any problems last time I used it," Tao Jingyang said, making things up.

Fan Xian stared at the pill in his hand, looking at Tao Jingyang in disbelief: "You mean, the medicine that can upgrade martial arts has side effects similar to a cold?"

"Yes," Tao Jingyang said confidently, his tone self-assured.

Fan Xian looked somewhat incredulous after hearing this, but he still found a bottle and carefully put it away.

Tao Jingyang breathed a sigh of relief, waved goodbye to Fan Xian.
