The woman in front of him looked exactly like Su Mingyue.

The War King's fiancée? How could that be?

This person was her wife just a month ago, how could she possibly be the War King's fiancée?

"Congratulations, Lord Fu. The War King said he was coming to attend Lord Fu's wedding banquet, and I happened to have nothing to do, so I thought I'd come along. I heard that Lord Fu was very lucky; on the day he passed the imperial examination, the Su family caught him and took him back to be their son-in-law. With Lord Su as his father-in-law, Lord Fu's future is sure to be limitless." Su Mingyue curled her lips slightly, which sounded like mockery to Fu Jingsheng.

"Ziyu and I fell in love at first sight and were mutually attracted, which led to this wedding. I was unaware that the War King was attending my wedding. Please forgive any shortcomings in our hospitality."

"But I heard that Lord Fu was married in the countryside before. Does Lord Su know that you had a first wife in the countryside?" The War King opened his folding fan and shook it a few times.

Fu Jingsheng swayed slightly.

He was certain that Su Mingyue had come with the War King to cause trouble.

What happened between her and the War King? What agreement did they reach? Why did the War King speak up for her?

Outsiders have no idea about these things. She must have told the War King.

Su Mingyue, we were husband and wife, are you sure you want to hurt me?

After a few turns of thought, Fu Jingsheng cupped his hands and said, "Your Highness, have you misunderstood something, or heard something outside? I have been studying in the capital for the past three years. How could I possibly have had the opportunity to marry and have children? I don't know where Your Highness heard about this matter. I'm afraid it's someone with ulterior motives trying to sow discord between me and my father-in-law. Please don't believe them."

"Oh, really?" The War King raised his voice: "Lord Fu must have suffered a lot to be able to pass the imperial examination from a poor scholar to become the top scholar."

"My mother supported my studies by running a small business at home. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to study in the capital, let alone become the top scholar in the imperial examination." Fu Jingsheng said with great humility.

One eye, however, remained fixed on Su Mingyue.

There was a warning in his eyes.

Hearing Fu Jingsheng's words, the old headmaster of the academy came out and said, "Lord Fu, are you mistaken? Back then, a woman came to me for help and even showed me your essay before I agreed to let you enroll. Your admission to the academy was entirely due to that woman's recommendation, and it seems to have nothing to do with your mother."

Dean Weng was the former dean of Jingfeng Academy. Years ago, Su Mingyue showed Fu Jingsheng's article to Dean Weng. Dean Weng thought the student was quite talented, so he gave him a letter of recommendation and admitted him to the academy.

As Fu Jingsheng listened to the old dean's words, the first image that came to mind was Su Mingyue's face. She had indeed promised to help him back then.

But could it be her?

She has such great abilities.

But if it weren't for her, who would have helped me back then?

"Dean Weng." Su Ziyu, dressed in a bright red wedding gown, gracefully approached. Today was her joyous day, and she shouldn't have shown herself. However, the room smelled too strong, and she had come out for some fresh air. Overhearing their conversation, she couldn't help but step forward: "You are my husband's husband's teacher, and today is his joyous day, so naturally you had to come. But why did you mention in public that I showed you his writings years ago? My husband has never known about this."

Su Ziyu, dressed in a bright red wedding dress, had a shy expression on her face: "Back when my husband was still a down-on-his-luck young master, I met him a few times. At the time, I felt that he was quite talented, and it would be a pity to let his talent go to waste, so I thought of giving him a chance and helping him. My husband lived up to expectations and, relying on his own strength, became the top scholar in the imperial examination this year."

Su Ziyu walked up to Fu Jingsheng, took his arm, and smiled shyly.
