Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder is Very Leisurely
Chapter 49 The Young Educated Youth 26
After spending the day at her uncle's house, she said goodbye and went home in the evening. Before leaving, her aunt pulled Li's mother aside and asked, "What have you thought about what I told you last time? I'm Bao Bao's aunt, I would never harm her."
Li's mother also understood that the two sisters-in-law had lived together for over twenty years without ever having lived together, so there were no conflicts and their relationship was very good. "I haven't told Bao Bao about this yet since she came back."
"Then hurry up, that young man is very popular. I'm only marrying him because I have a good relationship with his mother. If Bao Bao marries him, she can enjoy a life of luxury. Most importantly, he can also transfer Bao Bao from the countryside back to the city."
“Okay, I’ll talk to the baby when I get home tonight, but it still depends on the baby’s opinion,” Li’s mother said uncertainly.
"Okay, hurry up."
That evening, Li's mother knocked on the door and entered Yu Nuan's room.
Yu Nuan had just finished showering and was drying her hair when she saw Li's mother come in. "Mom."
“Baby, your aunt said a while ago that she wanted to introduce you to someone. He’s got good qualities and looks good too. Most importantly, he can get you to come back to the city.”
After hearing this, Yu Nuan paused for a moment while drying her hair, then continued drying it as if nothing had happened. Since returning home, she hadn't had a chance to tell her family about her and Shen Chenyi's relationship, and if she didn't say anything now, her mother would arrange a blind date for her.
After Li's mother finished speaking, she saw that Yu Nuan remained silent, so she added, "Of course, it still depends on what you think, baby. If you don't want to, then pretend that I didn't say anything."
"Mom, I haven't told you this yet, but I actually have a boyfriend."
"What?" Li's mother was so shocked by Yu Nuan that she stood up. What Li's mother feared most was that Yu Nuan would marry someone from the countryside. It wasn't that Li's mother looked down on rural people; she just loved her own daughter dearly. No matter how wealthy a family in the countryside was, they couldn't compare to the standard of living in the city. If her daughter married into a rural family, it would be difficult for her to come back. The more Li's mother thought about it, the more frightened she became, but she couldn't bear to scold her daughter.
“Baby, if you marry into the countryside in the future, Mom…” Li’s mother said, tears falling down her face.
Yu Nuan then realized that Li's mother had misunderstood. "Mom, my boyfriend isn't from the village where I was sent to work. He's a soldier, and his family is from Beijing." Yu Nuan recounted to Li's mother how she met and fell in love with Shen Chenyi. She also briefly explained Shen Chenyi's family background to reassure her mother.
After hearing this, Li's mother realized that she had misunderstood. "From what you've said, this young man named Shen Chenyi is quite good. He became a battalion commander at such a young age. He seems to be quite capable."
"That's for sure, otherwise I wouldn't even look at it," Yu Nuan said with a proud expression. "Mom, you'll see when you see it, you'll definitely be very satisfied."
"Girls are so outgoing, let's see how you talk to your dad." Li's mother chuckled and nodded Yu Nuan's head.
Yu Nuan then realized that she had been keeping this from her father. She hadn't mentioned it in her letters before because she was afraid that her father would get anxious and come to the village.
Yu Nuan walked over to Li's father, who was listening to the radio in the living room, with a fawning expression, massaging his shoulders and helping him bring water.
"Speak! What is it?" Yu Nuan would fawn over him like this whenever she got into trouble or needed his help. Even though Li's father understood, it never failed him.
"Dad, I found someone, but I forgot to tell you when I got back."
"Li Yunuan, you've really got some nerve! You didn't even discuss such a big thing with your parents. Where is that kid from? If I'm not satisfied, I definitely won't agree," Li's father said angrily.
"Sister, sister, what does your future brother-in-law do?" Li Yuyang asked curiously and excitedly when he heard that Yu Nuan had a boyfriend.
“He is a soldier.” Yu Nuan told Li’s father about Shen Chenyi’s situation again, but Li’s father was still angry after hearing it. He had a strange hostility towards the brat who had taken his daughter away.
Yu Nuan watched as Li's father stormed back to his bedroom, feeling somewhat at a loss. It seemed she had really angered him.
"It's okay, let your dad figure it out himself. He's not angry with you, he just doesn't want you to leave this family. Mom doesn't want you to leave either, but this is something you have to go through," Li's mother comforted Yu Nuan.
"Mom, I know."
After learning that his future brother-in-law was a member of the People's Liberation Army, Li Yuyang developed a deep admiration for this man he had never met. In fact, Li Yuyang desperately wanted to be a soldier, but his physical condition meant that it would remain just a dream.
In the days that followed, Li's father gradually came to terms with it and stopped rejecting Shen Chenyi. Sometimes he would even ask about Shen Chenyi to judge whether this person was worthy of entrusting his daughter to him.
Yu Nuan stayed home alone, cooking all sorts of dishes for her family, adding a drop or two of her space spring water to each dish. At first, Li's mother disagreed with letting Yu Nuan into the kitchen, because in her opinion, Yu Nuan should just stay at home as a pampered little girl. Later, she compromised after Yu Nuan's insistence, and seeing that the food Yu Nuan cooked was indeed delicious, she stopped objecting.
By the time Yu Nuan left, everyone in the family had recovered, including her younger brother Li Yuyang. Yu Nuan gave him extra amounts of spring water, and Li Yuyang felt more energetic and less tired while working. He thought it was because his sister was in a good mood after returning.
On the way back, Li's father asked his uncle to find someone to buy Yu Nuan a sleeper ticket, so that Yu Nuan would no longer have to endure that smell that was comparable to poison gas.
The station was filled with people seeing each other off. Li's father and Li Yuyang put Yu Nuan's large and small bags of luggage under the sleeper berth, while Li's mother gave her careful instructions.
"I'm leaving now. Mom and Dad, please take good care of yourselves. Little brother, remember to study hard."
"Okay, I understand, sister." Li Yuyang looked at Yu Nuan with reluctance.
"Alright, you don't need to worry about home. It's you who should take good care of yourself while you're away. If Shen Chenyi bullies you, be sure to tell your dad."
"I understand, Dad. You don't need to work overtime so often anymore, and you don't need to send me anything. I don't need anything."
The train conductor had already started ushering passengers out of the carriage, and Yu Nuan waved goodbye to her family through the window.
Yu Nuan got off the train and, looking at her large and small bags, was worried about how to get home. Then she saw Shen Chenyi walking towards her, helping her carry her luggage and putting it in the car like a savior.
"How did you know I was coming back today?" Yu Nuan asked Shen Chenyi in surprise as she sat in the car.
"I guessed it. I figured you'd be back either today or tomorrow. I guess I was lucky."
Shen Chenyi escorted Yu Nuan home, helped her carry all her things inside, and then prepared to leave. "The military has been quite busy lately, so I can't stay here."
"Okay, then drive carefully on the road." Yu Nuan remembered the local specialties that Li's mother had specially brought for Shen Chenyi, and rummaged through her luggage to find them. "This is something my mom specially brought for you."
"Please thank your aunt for me," Shen Chenyi said without hesitation.
After Shen Chenyi left, Yu Nuan cleaned the house. It had been uninhabited for half a month and was covered in a layer of dust.
