A group of people were gathered in a circle on the street, pointing inside and seemingly discussing something; the Chinese people's love of watching a spectacle is ingrained in their genes. An ambulance was parked not far away.

Standing not far away, Yu Nuan could hear the pitiful voices from the crowd: "She was just a young girl, so tragic. Hit by a car like that, she's definitely not going to survive. So young, gone without a life, what will her parents do?" "Exactly! These reckless drivers are truly hateful."...

Yu Nuan had no interest in joining in the fun at the moment, because she was the center of the excitement.

Yu Nuan only learned after her death that there really is a soul after death. Yu Nuan walked through the crowd and looked at the body lying on the ground. She felt that everything was too sudden and that she had really died.

No, Yu Nuan thought of her parents. If she died, her parents would be heartbroken. So Yu Nuan wanted to return to her body as soon as possible, but no matter how hard she tried, it was no use.

Two doctors examined Yu Nuan and, after confirming that she had no vital signs, shook their heads and said, "She has no vital signs. Take her back to the hospital and notify her family."

"Okay, Dr. Li."

Upon hearing the doctor pronounce her dead, Yu Nuan pleaded urgently, "Doctor, don't give up, save me!"

But no one could see her, and no one could hear her speak.

After Yu Nuan's body was taken away by the ambulance, the crowd dispersed, leaving only Yu Nuan, now a soul, slumped on the ground, wanting to cry but unable to shed a tear.

Yu Nuan murmured to herself, "If I die, what will happen to my parents? Why am I so unlucky? I've never jaywalked." But even with such caution, Yu Nuan was hit by a car while crossing the street.

Half an hour ago, Yu Nuan, who had recently graduated from university, was looking for a job. Today, she was going to interview at a large company. On her way to the company, Yu Nuan stood in front of a traffic light, looking down at her phone and patiently waiting for the green light to come on. Suddenly, Yu Nuan heard a scream from the crowd. When she looked up, she saw an out-of-control car heading towards her.

It happened so suddenly that Yu Nuan couldn't dodge in time. She was knocked away almost before she could react. As she lay on the ground, Yu Nuan didn't see that while she was unconscious, the jade pendant around her neck was absorbing her blood before disappearing into her body.

When Yu Nuan woke up again, she found herself existing in a soul form. This was a bit hard for Yu Nuan, who had received scientific education since childhood, to accept; she never imagined that souls actually existed. But weren't souls always depicted in TV dramas as being unable to see the sun? Yu Nuan looked up at the blinding sunlight, wondering why she didn't feel any discomfort.

After sitting there for a while, Yu Nuan suddenly remembered that she needed to notify her parents about her hospital visit, so she quickly got up and rushed to the hospital. Yu Nuan was still not used to her soul state, and she could float far away with the slightest movement.

Yu Nuan arrived at the hospital quickly and ran into her parents and younger brother who had rushed over. Yu Nuan's parents never expected that their daughter, who had been perfectly fine when they left that morning, would now be a cold corpse.

Yu Nuan's mother threw herself onto Yu Nuan's body, crying her heart out. From receiving the phone call to seeing her daughter's body, Yu Nuan's mother couldn't accept the fact that her daughter was gone.

Yu Nuan's father held Yu Nuan's mother's hand; he too was devastated by his daughter's passing. Yu Nuan's younger brother had just graduated from high school this year and hadn't yet told his sister the good news that he had been accepted into her alma mater.

Upon hearing the news of his sister's death, he tried to deny it, but his sister was lying there, making it impossible for him to deceive himself.

Yu Nuan saw her family members were sad and wanted to hug them to comfort them, but her body passed right through them and she couldn't touch them.

When Yu Nuan was feeling sad, a sudden flash of white light stung her eyes, blinding her. She shielded her eyes with her hand, then felt a suction force pull her into the white light. She then lost consciousness. Unaware that her soul was absorbing energy from the white light as it passed through, her soul became increasingly solidified, just as it had been when she was alive.

When Yu Nuan woke up again, she found herself lying on a grassy field, with farmland not far away.

Yu Nuan stood up in confusion and said, "Where is this? Have I come to the underworld?"

Yu Nuan looked around and found that there was no one there, nor were there any of the legendary Black and White Impermanence. Moreover, the place was bright and not at all like the dark and gloomy underworld in movies and TV dramas.

Yu Nuan shouted loudly a few times, "Is anyone there?"

There was complete silence; no one answered her.

Yu Nuan randomly chose a direction and walked forward. Not far away, Yu Nuan saw a house with an exterior that resembled an ancient building.

Yu Nuan was also completely clueless, so she knocked on the courtyard gate, hoping someone would come out and help her.

"Hello, is anyone here?"

There was no answer from inside the courtyard, and the gate opened with a push from Yu Nuan. Ignoring whether it was impolite, Yu Nuan went inside.

Upon entering the courtyard, Yu Nuan saw all sorts of flowers and grasses among the seeds, none of which she had ever seen before. There were also several large trees bearing fruit, but Yu Nuan had no interest in studying them. All she wanted to know was where she was and if there was anyone else around.

"Is anyone home? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," Yu Nuan said loudly into the house.

But still no one answered.

The door to the house in the courtyard was still unlocked, and Yu Nuan pushed it open and went inside anyway. The interior decoration was different from that of the courtyard wall. Here you could see furniture and decorations from different eras, but there was not a sense of incongruity.

Yu Nuan walked around the house. Some doors couldn't be opened, and the ones that could be opened were empty. The house was dust-free, but it felt lifeless, as if no one had lived there for a long time.

There was a staircase leading to the second floor at the corner of the house. Yu Nuan wanted to go up, but was blocked by an invisible force.

Finding no clues inside, Yu Nuan turned outside. In the distance, the crops in the fields were ripe, including rice, wheat, and corn. Yu Nuan's grandparents lived in the countryside, and during holidays, Yu Nuan would go back to her hometown with her parents, so she recognized these crops.

Passing through the farmland, a vast orchard came into view. The orchard stretched as far as the eye could see, with all sorts of fruits hanging from the branches, fresh and tempting. However, Yu Nuan couldn't eat them right now. Yu Nuan found it a bit strange; she could touch things here, but a voice inside her told her that she couldn't eat them.

Beside the orchard was a stream. Following the stream, Yu Nuan saw a pond with a fountain above it, constantly spouting water. The closer Yu Nuan got to the fountain, the more comfortable she felt. Upon closer inspection, Yu Nuan discovered that there was a stone pool suspended above the pond, from which the spring water gushed and overflowed into the pond.

Over the next period of time, Yu Nuan explored the entire area but did not find any other creatures besides herself. The remaining places that Yu Nuan could not go were shrouded in mist, and Yu Nuan could not go there.
