"Spare me? You've caused the deaths of so many of my Wei soldiers, isn't it a bit too late to beg for mercy now!"

Cao Yuan's eyes were filled with malice, and she really wanted to devour this hideous man alive.

“Princess! You are also someone who fought on the battlefield. I was just defending my own country!” Malai explained tremblingly, trying to shirk responsibility.

"Defend the country?" Cao Yuan scoffed, seemingly having never heard of such a ridiculous thing. "Don't try to fob me off with that! It's clearly just an excuse you're making up because you're afraid my Great Wei will withdraw its troops and that your Chen Kingdom's city gates won't be able to hold! Without my Great Wei's army, your city gates would have been razed to the ground long ago! You bunch of rats deserve to die!"

"Fifty thousand soldiers of my Great Wei died at your hands! Even tearing you to pieces would not quell the hatred in my heart!"

Seeing this, Malay dared not provoke her any further. "Princess! Spare me! I'm just afraid of dying!"

Cao Yuan gritted her teeth and lowered her voice, "Why don't you kneel down and beg me!"

"If I beg you, will you let me go?" the Malay asked innocently.

Cao Yuan smirked, "Of course! Beg me and I'll spare you!"

Malay knelt down with a thud, pleading, "Please, Princess, spare me! Please, Princess! I was truly just confused for a moment!"

The soldiers were at a loss as they watched Ma Lai kneel and kowtow repeatedly. How could a general of the Chen Kingdom be so afraid of death!

"Hahahaha! Did you all see that? This is your Chen Kingdom's great general! What a coward who clings to life! It's truly laughable!"

Cao Yuan threw her head back and laughed wildly at the sky. The laughter echoed in the empty courtyard, sounding particularly jarring and desolate.

Her eyes were bloodshot, a mixture of anger and despair, as she glared fiercely at the soldiers of the Chen Kingdom before her.

"Our Great Wei came to our aid with good intentions! A full 50,000 people! And now I'm the only one left! How can I face the capital and report back to my post!" By the end, Cao Yuan's voice was almost hoarse, and her trembling hands shook even more violently, as if she might collapse at any moment.

"They could have survived, but they died at the hands of a despicable and shameless scoundrel like you! And you dare beg me to spare your life!"

"How can I face the 50,000 heroic souls of my Great Wei if I don't kill you!"

Cao Yuan held the knife to his neck and grabbed his collar, "Get up!"

"Where are you taking me?!"

"Get out of my way! Open the city gates right now!"

Cao Yuan shouted at them.

The soldiers on the city wall opened the city gate.

"Princess, where are you taking me?"

As soon as the two stepped out of the city gate, Cao Yuan knocked him unconscious with a chop to the neck and then galloped away on horseback with him.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself kneeling in front of a row of tombstones, while Cao Yuan was burning paper money beside him with her back to him.

Malai got up from the ground, and a gust of cold wind blew straight down his back, making him shiver involuntarily.

Seeing that Cao Yuan hadn't noticed him, he hardened his heart and decided to ambush her. He picked up a stone from the ground and slowly approached Cao Yuan step by step. Suddenly, he struck hard and smashed it on Cao Yuan's head.

The instant he swung the knife, Cao Yuan's knife was a step faster, piercing his leg.

"what……"

Malai, clutching his leg, lay on the ground rolling around, his screams echoing through the entire forest.

"I'll only fall for the same trick once!"

Cao Yuan spoke in a light tone, without even turning her head, and continued to burn paper money with her head down.

The burning ashes drifted and swirled in the air before finally settling on Cao Yuan, like a pair of hands reluctant to leave.

"General Liu, today is the seventh day since your death! I have brought him to see you!"

Upon hearing this, Malai immediately knelt down, saying, "I'm sorry, General Liu, and all my soldiers! It's all my fault! I shouldn't have done that to you..."

Cao Yuan slashed his throat, and blood flowed all over the ground.

"You dare say sorry? Kneel down properly for me!"

Malay coughed up a mouthful of blood, but he obediently did as he was told.

Cao Yuan sat beside the tombstone, gently touching it. "General Liu, I have apprehended the culprit!"

He'll be able to join you soon.

Cao Yuan poured the wine on the ground, speaking softly with slightly red eyes, "You didn't treat me to the last drink, so I'm treating you this time! Next time we meet, you absolutely must make up for the wine you owe me, no credit allowed!"

Her eyes welled up with tears, and her voice trembled.

Cao Yuan gripped General Liu's sword hilt, stood up, and walked towards Ma Lai. Ma Lai kept shaking his head, signaling him not to.

"Malay! Don't worry, I will definitely not let you die easily!" Cao Yuan's eyes widened in anger as she glared fiercely at Malay, who was now collapsed on the ground, his face filled with terror. Her voice was as cold and full of killing intent, as if it came from the deepest hell.

Before she could finish speaking, a flash of cold light appeared, and Cao Yuan's incredibly sharp longsword shot out like lightning, piercing Ma Lai's other thigh with perfect accuracy.

Malai was in so much pain that his whole body convulsed. He instinctively wanted to open his mouth and let out a shrill scream, but he could only open his mouth wide and struggle in vain, with large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead.

"This strike is to seek justice for my grandfather! If it weren't for your interference, you despicable villain, my grandfather would never have passed away!" Cao Yuan became more and more furious as she spoke, the anger in her eyes almost burning the enemy in front of her to ashes.

She tightened her grip on the knife handle slightly, causing the blade to sink a little deeper. Then, as if that wasn't enough, she vigorously twisted the tip of the knife against the wound, further intensifying Malay's suffering.

Cao Yuan drew her sword and plunged it into his hand again, saying, "This strike is for the 50,000 heroic souls of my Great Wei!"

"Don't be afraid, General Ma. These two cuts of mine are very well placed; you won't bleed too much! How could I bear to let you die so easily!"

She had learned quite a few of Chu Yan's moves that left no trace, and now they were finally coming in handy.

Malai lay on the ground, writhing in agony, but Cao Yuan felt no pleasure whatsoever.

"I've been thinking about it. Given General Liu's personality, he'll probably be fighting until his last breath, so I'll let you experience that feeling too!"

With four swift strokes, Cao Yuan severed all of Ma Lai's limbs, causing him to bleed profusely. She then opened an empty coffin and threw Ma Lai inside.

Cao Yuan, holding the coffin, looked down at the writhing Ma Lai, saying, "General Ma, just stay here and experience the feeling of death! You're so afraid of death, you don't know what this feeling of being half-dead is like!"

"Don't worry! You definitely won't die today. I left a little hole for you to breathe!" Cao Yuan laughed maniacally as she spoke. "You don't need to thank me too much! This is what you deserve!"

The Malay man's scarlet eyes were filled with fear, but Cao Yuan did not show any emotion as she closed the coffin lid.
