"What?" Qin Chu turned the steering wheel and entered the villa area, driving along a tree-lined road. "You've been here before?"

As the rain pattered down, he looked out the car window with surprise: "My villa is here too, it's building number 2 or 3."

"Oh?" Qin Chu's eyes flickered. "So, we're neighbors."

Mei Yusheng looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Qin Chu stopped in front of a white two-story villa, and Mei Yusheng got out of the car after him.

He pointed to a neighboring villa not far to the west and said, "Look, that's yours."

Mei Yusheng stared in astonishment, her feet moving involuntarily towards him.

The townhouses here are all two-story buildings, surrounded by wrought iron fences, with exterior paneling on the walls, all uniformly white.

She could hardly believe that the small building before her would belong to her, that it would soon become her home.

She was both surprised and delighted. She had always dreamed of having a house like this, where she could read and write quietly, and she would never feel lonely even if she didn't leave the house for a month.

But then she thought that she needed to have enough money to support the leisurely life she imagined, otherwise she would have to struggle to survive.

"The annual property management fee here must be very high, right?" she couldn't help but ask Qin Chu beside her.

"Hmm, not low," Qin Chu replied casually.

Mei Yusheng's mood plummeted. All she wanted was a place to settle down. Now that Yue Jiangting had put the villa in her name, she felt that as long as she paid off the mortgage, she would be set for life.

Only now did I realize that just paying the property management fees for this house would probably take up most of my earnings, not to mention that I also have to live with my mother.

She was being too naive, unless Yue Jiangting really gave her ten million.

Based on her understanding of Yue Jiangting, that was impossible; giving her two million would be an act of mercy.

She held a fatal weakness in his hand, but she knew in her heart that it was only for threatening him and could not be actually used. Even if she disregarded her own son, she couldn't ignore Xuanxuan. She couldn't destroy Xuanxuan's peace for the sake of what she wanted.

"Let's go, let's go see my place first." Qin Chu interrupted her when he saw her hesitant and sad expression.

Mei Yusheng nodded and followed Qin Chu back.

"I didn't expect your house to be a villa. The rent must be very expensive, right?" Mei Yusheng walked up to Qin Chu's villa, stopped, and looked him straight in the eye. "I'm sorry, I can't afford it. Please see me out."

"You're staying in a guest room? It costs a thousand a month. Can't you afford it?" Qin Chu looked at her with a smile. "Let's go in and have a cup of coffee first. If you really don't like it, I'll take you out to find something else."

Feeling obliged to accept her hospitality, Mei Yusheng followed her into the courtyard.

There are several persimmon trees planted in the yard, and most of the persimmons are ripe, like a tree full of golden little suns.

Stepping into the living room, the decor is a simple black, white, and gray European style, with minimal but practical furniture.

There was no one else in the house, not even the nanny. Mei Yusheng suspected that this was just an empty house of his.

Sitting on the dark gray leather sofa, Qin Chu quickly brought out two cups of coffee from the kitchen and said apologetically, "I can only give you instant coffee, please make do with this."

Mei Yusheng didn't seem to care. She picked up her hot coffee, took a sip, and casually asked as she looked around the room, "How long has this place been vacant?"

Qin Chu was taken aback, then laughed and said, "I live here, so does that mean it's vacant?"

Mei Yusheng was taken aback: "Are you alone? Where's your family?"

"I am all alone, I have no family."

"How could this be?" Mei Yusheng was a little incredulous. How could such an outstanding man not have a family?

"I'm divorced!" Qin Chu lowered his eyes, the dazzling light streaming in from the window illuminating the lines on his lips.

"I'm sorry." Mei Yusheng regretted bringing up someone's sad story, and changed the subject by glancing around. "Why didn't you hire a nanny?"

She meant that it was very inconvenient for a man to have no one to take care of his daily needs.

She had never seen Yue Jiangting cook a single meal. She guessed he didn't even know how to turn on the stove in the kitchen and always waited on hand and foot to be fed.

"I'm a very good cook," Qin Chu raised an eyebrow, adopting a nonchalant expression. "Why don't you try my cooking at lunchtime?"

"You can cook?" Mei Yusheng was pleasantly surprised. None of the men she had met, whether they were her father, brother, husband, or son, could cook. It was always the women who cooked and served the food to them.

"Okay, you wait here." Qin Chu stood up and walked briskly towards the kitchen.

Mei Yusheng followed curiously and watched as he skillfully put on a Snoopy cartoon apron, instantly looking rather adorable.

He opened the refrigerator, took out several vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplants, and romaine lettuce, and then took out ribs and chicken pieces from the freezer. He found a large porcelain basin and soaked them in water to thaw.

He then quickly began picking vegetables, and his skillful movements immediately convinced Mei Yusheng that he was someone who cooked often.

She rushed over to help, and the two of them doubled their speed, quickly preparing the dishes. Qin Chu told Mei Yusheng to sit outside and wait, as he would finish cooking soon.

Mei Yusheng hesitated and withdrew. Looking at his busy figure, she was momentarily dazed, not knowing where she was or how she had become so familiar with a man she had only met three times.

"You can visit my study!" Qin Chu said loudly from the kitchen. "It's the first room on the east side of the second floor."

Mei Yusheng became interested; she really wanted to see Qin Chu's study, the place where so many wonderful stories were written, which held an irresistible attraction for her.

Upon reaching the second floor and pushing open the door to the first room on the east side, one is greeted by a view filled with books.

The bookshelves on both walls were full, with items arranged in a neat and orderly fashion.

The sky-blue curtains on the window were drawn to one side, and the sunlight streamed in cheerfully.

Mei Yusheng was surprised to see a huge monitor in the middle of the desk, probably no smaller than thirty inches.

In front of the computer is a black custom mechanical keyboard, with a wrist rest placed horizontally in front of it. On the mousepad next to it, a very stylish mouse lies quietly.

This is where Qin Chu works. Mei Yusheng's heart pounded with excitement. She carefully touched the mouse, her fingers gently tracing the keycaps, feeling their smooth texture.

It was here that one brilliant work after another was born.

She really wanted to turn on her computer and see Qin Chu's latest, unpublished manuscripts.

The excitement of being the first to see it and the secret sense of superiority stirred an irresistible impulse within her.

Ultimately, she didn't dare to pry into his privacy, as it was copyrighted, and she was afraid Qin Chu would be angry.

As she approached the bookshelf, the aroma of books filled her nostrils, evoking a long-lost sense of familiarity and warmth. She ran her hand over the spines of the books; some she had read, but most she hadn't.

"You can come and get anything you want anytime." Qin Chu appeared behind her without her noticing.

Mei Yusheng was startled and turned around to meet his dark, deep eyes. She was momentarily stunned: "Can I really take it and look at it anytime?"

“Of course, this is your library.” Qin Chu’s eyes sparkled with a captivating light as he smiled. “Let’s go downstairs for dinner first.”

Just then, Mei Yusheng smelled the tempting aroma of food, and her stomach began to rumble.

I only ate a small cake and drank two cups of coffee this morning, and I'm starving.

They went downstairs side by side and came to the dining room next to the kitchen.

The table was laden with steaming dishes, and Mei Yusheng was astonished: "Did you make all of this?"
