Keyboard Warrior's Otherworldly Adventure
Chapter 40 The Call of Meteor Valley
"Where...where am I?" Li Jin struggled to sit up, his head feeling as heavy as lead. He looked around and found himself in a simple cave, the cave walls shimmering with a faint glow that barely illuminated the surroundings.
Ares closed the book in her hands; it was an ancient parchment scroll, densely covered with strange writing. "In a safe place," she replied calmly, a hint of barely perceptible wariness still lingering in her golden eyes.
"That flower..." Li Jin recalled with lingering fear the enormous golden flower and the dizziness that followed. "What exactly was that thing?"
Ares shook his head. "I don't know. All I know is that when I got close to it, strange sounds came to my head, like...calling me."
"Calling you?" Li Jin frowned. This sounded like some kind of evil ritual. He subconsciously touched his pocket. Fortunately, the transmigration system was still there.
"System, scan Ares and see if there's anything unusual about her," Li Jin silently instructed in his mind.
"Ding! Scan complete. Target: Ares. Vital signs normal, no abnormal energy fluctuations detected. However, an unknown energy exists within the target's body, which cannot be identified." The system's cold voice rang in Li Jin's mind.
Unknown energy? Li Jin was even more puzzled. It seemed that Ares was even more mysterious than he had imagined.
At this moment, Sophie and Xiaomei also woke up.
"Li Jin, are you alright?" Sophie asked with concern. She quickly walked to Li Jin's side, carefully checked him over, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that he was not injured.
"I'm fine, just a little dizzy." Li Jin rubbed his temples. "How about you guys?"
"I'm just a little dizzy," Sophie shook her head.
"I feel great!" Xiaomei jumped up excitedly. "Although the fragrance of this flower smells a little strange, I feel full of energy after inhaling it!" As she spoke, she waved her fists a few times, looking very energetic.
Li Jin and Sophie exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes. It seemed that the golden flower had a different effect on everyone.
"Ares, do you know where this is?" Li Jin turned to Ares, hoping to get some clues from her.
Ares shook his head. "I woke up here, and I don't remember anything."
"Amnesia trope? That's so cliché!" Li Jin thought to himself, but his face remained impassive. "Alright then, looks like we'll have to figure it out ourselves."
He stood up, stretched his body, and felt fine except for a slight dizziness. He walked to the cave entrance and looked out, only to find that the outside world was still desolate, with nothing but scorched earth and broken rocks.
"It seems we need to find a way to get out of here," Li Jin said.
"How do we leave? There are only rocks here, not even a road," Xiaomei complained.
"Don't worry, let me see if the system has any solutions," Li Jin said, opening the system map.
The map shows that they are currently in a place called "Meteor Valley", which is surrounded by towering mountains and has only one narrow canyon leading to the outside world.
"It seems we have no choice but to exit through this canyon," Li Jin said, pointing to the map.
"But this canyon looks very dangerous!" Sophie said worriedly. "There are many dangerous areas marked on the map, and many unknown creatures."
"What's there to be afraid of! With Li Jin and Ares here, we'll definitely be able to turn bad luck into good!" Xiao Mei said nonchalantly. She was filled with curiosity about Ares, always feeling that this mysterious woman possessed immense power.
Li Jin smiled but remained silent. He knew that even with the system and Ares by his side, this adventure would be anything but easy. He turned to look at Ares and saw her staring at a location on the map, her eyes filled with doubt.
"What's wrong? What did you find out?" Li Jin asked.
Ares pointed to a mark on the map and asked, "What place is this?"
Li Jin looked around and found that it was an area marked as "forbidden zone," surrounded by red lines, which looked very dangerous.
"I don't know. The map only marks the area as 'forbidden zone' and there's no other information," Li Jin replied.
Ares frowned and muttered to himself, "The forbidden area... why do I feel like something there is calling to me?"
Upon hearing the word "call," Li Jin's heart skipped a beat, and an ominous premonition washed over him. Could this be another trap?
