"We're not thieves!" Li Jin clutched his chest, blood seeping from between his fingers, staining his clothes red. He felt short of breath, as if his internal organs were being churned. Damn it, that shadowy figure was ruthless!

Xiao Mei grabbed Li Jin and asked anxiously, "Li Jin, how are you? Are you alright?" Her eyes were red and tears were welling up in them.

Sophie looked at Li Jin with concern. Although they hadn't known each other for long, she was filled with curiosity about this man from another world and didn't want anything to happen to him here. She took out a crystal emitting a soft white light from her waist and gently pressed it against Li Jin's chest. "This is a Holy Light Crystal; it can heal your injuries."

Upon seeing this, the shadowy figure sneered, "Holy Light Crystal? It seems you are indeed not ordinary people! Tell me, who exactly are you? What is your purpose in coming here?" His tone was icy and full of hostility.

Li Jin, enduring the pain, took a deep breath and said, "We really were just passing by..."

"Just passing by?" the shadowy figure interrupted him. "This forest is forbidden territory. How can you just pass by like that? I think you clearly have ulterior motives!" he said, closing in again and reaching out to grab the crystal in Sophie's hand.

Sophie instinctively protected the crystal, took a step back, and looked warily at the dark figure. "What do you want?"

The shadowy figure grinned maliciously: "What for? To take back what's mine, of course!"

"Your stuff?" Sophie was taken aback. "This crystal is mine!"

"Hmph, silver tongue!" The dark figure stopped talking and pounced on Sophie like a ghost.

Sophie gasped and dodged quickly, but the shadowy figure was too fast; she had no time to react. Just as the shadowy figure's hand was about to grab the crystal, at the critical moment, a furry little beast suddenly darted out from behind Sophie and bit the shadowy figure's hand.

"Ah!" The shadowy figure winced in pain, abruptly withdrawing its hand and glaring angrily at the little beast.

This little beast is Xiaomei's pet, Xiaobai. Although it is small in size, its teeth are exceptionally sharp. With one bite, it tore through the shadowy man's glove, leaving a deep wound on his hand.

A flicker of fear crossed the shadowy figure's eyes; he hadn't expected this seemingly harmless little beast to be so powerful. "What kind of monster is this?"

Xiao Mei smiled smugly: "This is my pet, Xiao Bai. Pretty cool, right?"

Little White bared its teeth at the shadowy figure and let out a low growl, as if warning him not to come closer.

The shadowy figure clutched his injured hand, his eyes shifting between light and shadow. He glanced warily at Xiaobai, then at Li Jin and Su Fei, before finally letting out a cold snort: "Consider yourselves lucky! I'll let you go this time!" With that, he turned and disappeared into the depths of the forest.

Seeing the shadowy figure leave, Xiaomei and Sophie both breathed a sigh of relief.

"That scared me to death!" Xiaomei said, patting her chest, still shaken.

Sophie breathed a soft sigh of relief, glanced gratefully at Xiaobai, and then turned to Li Jin. "How are you feeling?"

Li Jin's face was still somewhat pale, but he felt the pain in his chest had lessened; the healing effect of the Holy Light Crystal was indeed remarkable. "Much better, thank you."

"It's good that you're alright." Sophie put the crystal back into her waistband.

Li Jin stood up, stretched his body, and felt that he had regained some strength. "Let's go, we shouldn't stay here any longer."

The three continued walking forward, and the atmosphere in the forest became even more eerie. The shadows of the trees swayed, as if countless eyes were watching them from the shadows.

After walking for a while, they came to an open space where an ancient stone tablet stood, with strange characters engraved on it.

"What is this?" Xiaomei asked curiously.
