Keyboard Warrior's Otherworldly Adventure

Chapter 35 The Mysterious Swordsman

A wave of excruciating pain washed over Li Jin, as if an invisible hand were tearing his soul apart. He heard Sophie and Xiao Mei's terrified screams, but he was powerless to respond. His consciousness gradually faded, as if he were falling into an abyss, with only the system's cold, mechanical voice echoing: "Ding! Host's soul severely damaged, emergency repair program initiated... Estimated repair time: 72 hours..."

72 hours? Li Jin cursed inwardly: I'll be dead by now in 72 hours! This damn system, it messes up at the crucial moment!

When Li Jin woke up again, he found himself lying in a cave with a bonfire crackling at the entrance. Sophie and Xiao Mei were by his side, both with deep exhaustion and worry on their faces.

"You're awake!" Sophie exclaimed in surprise, grabbing Li Jin's hand and feeling much more at ease with the warmth of his touch.

Li Jin struggled to sit up, feeling sore all over, as if he had been run over by a truck. "How long...how long was I unconscious?"

"Three days and three nights." Xiao Mei's voice was a little hoarse, and her eyes were red, clearly she had been crying.

Three days and three nights?! Li Jin gasped, thankfully the system was powerful enough to pull him back from the brink of death. He touched his chest, where a dull ache still lingered, as if the ghostly claws of a demon general were still there.

"Where's Lin Na?" Li Jin looked around but didn't see Lin Na.

Sophie and Xiaomei exchanged a glance, their expressions somewhat complicated.

"She's gone," Sophie said. "She left after making sure you were alright."

Li Jin was taken aback. "She left? She didn't say anything?"

"No," Xiaomei shook her head. "She just said that we're even."

"We're even?" Li Jin frowned. This woman was truly unpredictable. Why did she save them? Was it really just to repay a favor?

"Oh right, where's Xiaobai?" Li Jin suddenly remembered Xiaomei's pet.

Xiao Mei pulled Xiao Bai out of her arms. The little creature was still trembling, its eyes filled with fear. "It...it seems terrified."

Li Jin reached out and touched Xiaobai's head, finding it ice-cold. "It's alright, Xiaobai, it's all over now."

"Where are we now?" Li Jin asked.

"In a cave," Sophie said, pointing to the entrance. "We dragged you here."

"Thank you so much," Li Jin said gratefully. "If it weren't for you, I'm afraid I..."

"Don't talk nonsense," Sophie interrupted him. "We're companions, we should help each other."

Li Jin smiled, a warm feeling welling up inside him. In this unfamiliar world, to have such a group of companions was truly his good fortune.

"System, report my situation," Li Jin silently said to himself.

"Ding! The host's soul has been repaired, but is still in a weak state. It is recommended that the host restore his strength as soon as possible." The system's cold voice rang in his mind.

"How can I restore my strength?" Li Jin asked.

"Ding! It is recommended that the host complete the system task to gain experience points and rewards."

"What's the task?"

"Ding! A spiritual herb has been detected growing nearby. Please go and collect it."

Li Jin's eyes lit up. A spiritual herb? This is a good thing!

"where?"

"Ding! Please move 500 meters to the southeast."

Li Jin looked at Sophie and Xiao Mei, "I need to go collect some medicinal herbs, you two..."

"We'll go with you!" Sophie and Xiaomei said in unison.

Li Jin smiled and said, "Okay, let's go together."

The three emerged from the cave and proceeded in the direction indicated by the system. After walking about five hundred meters, they arrived at a valley filled with various exotic flowers and herbs, and the air was filled with a rich medicinal fragrance.

"Wow! So many medicinal herbs!" Xiao Mei exclaimed excitedly, her eyes lighting up.

Li Jin was also excited; these medicinal herbs were treasures to him!

Suddenly, a sharp screech shattered the tranquility of the valley. A gigantic spider descended from the sky, blocking their path. The spider was enormous, its eight eyes gleaming with an eerie green light, its body covered in black hair, making it look ferocious and terrifying.

Li Jin's heart skipped a beat. What the hell was this?

The system's voice rang in his mind: "Ding! Mutant Demon Spider detected, extremely venomous. Host advised to proceed with caution!"

A mutated spider? Extremely venomous? Li Jin's face instantly turned ugly. This was like escaping one danger only to fall into another! He turned to look at Su Fei and Xiao Mei, only to find that their faces had also turned pale, clearly frightened by the sudden appearance of the mutated spider.

"What should we do?" Xiaomei's voice trembled.

Li Jin took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. "Don't be afraid, we'll deal with it together!"

Just then, a figure descended from the sky, blocking their path. The newcomer was tall and slender, dressed in a black, close-fitting outfit, with a silver mask covering his face, revealing only a pair of cold eyes. He held a black longsword in his hand, the blade radiating a chilling aura.

"Who are you?" Li Jin asked warily.

The newcomer did not answer, but merely gave him a cold look before swinging his sword at the mutated spider...
