Day n of not wanting to be a kept man's canary

Chapter 41 Right Under One's Nose

Zhong Yu looked at her with a grin, "Sure, how about you spend a day with me, then I'll agree."

The flippant words aroused discomfort, and even the little goodwill that remained from their first meeting was almost completely wiped out by those words.

"Sorry to bother you!" Mu Yanxin turned to leave.

Zhong Yu panicked, took a step forward and grabbed the woman's slender arm from behind, then tried to appease her, "Have some breakfast."

"Just having breakfast is fine, isn't it?"

Mu Yanxin stopped and hesitated.

To make his words more convincing, Zhong Yu added, "I really just want you to have breakfast with me; eating breakfast alone is too boring."

His words were sincere, and it was hard to refuse. Mu Yanxin lowered her gaze to the arm that was being held, and Zhong Yu awkwardly let go with a smile.

This woman isn't the gold digger that others say she is; she's quite innocent. No wonder Ye Ye kept getting entangled with her.

Two hours later, Zhong Yu watched her eat slowly as she left the studio.

Having promised to stay with him, she really couldn't leave early, so she could only wait for him to finish eating, partly to wait for that ten million.

As autumn approached, the weather grew colder day by day. She looked up at the sky, where the sun had just peeked through the clouds when it was obscured by dark clouds again.

The phone rang, and unsurprisingly, it was Song Renshou calling.

"Nuan Nuan, are you ready with ten million?" A nauseating voice came from the other end of the receiver.

Suppressing the acid reflux in my stomach, I moved the phone away from my ear, keeping it a certain distance.

"Just a friendly reminder, you only have one hour left. If you can't come up with ten million, you can expect to be kicked out of the Leng family!"

"Don't blame me for being ruthless when the time comes!"

The man's disgusting laughter echoed through the receiver, forcefully suppressing her nerves and causing a headache. Mu Yanxin didn't want to listen anymore. "I'll be there."

The man on the other end of the line said smugly, "That's good!"

Remembering the meeting place, Mu Yan's heart skipped a beat: Yi Qing Hotel.

She felt a little scared as the place where her nightmare recurred came to mind. However, it was a remote place, and no one should be able to recognize her. Song Renshou only wanted money, so he probably wouldn't do anything outrageous to her.

Thinking about it this way, my aversion lessened.

"Yiqing Hotel, right?" Mu Yanxin confirmed.

"I've changed my mind. Let's meet at Nomon!"

Mu Yan panicked, "Why?"

"No reason!"

Mu Yanxin was agitated. "No."

The Wild Gate, Leng Tingye's territory, and the fact that they were trading under his nose—Mu Yanxin shuddered at the mere thought of it.

"I'm in charge!"

There was no room for negotiation. The call ended, but the eerie laughter from the receiver lingered, leaving the person completely bewildered.

With less than an hour to go before the agreed time, Mu Yanxin's mind raced.

If she didn't go, Song Renshou gave her no room for negotiation; if she went to Yemen and ran into Leng Tingye, all her previous cover-ups would be exposed.

She had no choice but to go to the Wild Gate, but she might not be able to run into him. At this time, Leng Tingye was usually asleep.

An hour later, Mu Yanxin arrived at the gate with a sliver of hope. Standing in front of the gate and looking at herself through the glass, her face no longer showed the panic she had felt an hour earlier.

The woman on the glass, dressed in a tight-fitting sexy outfit, with long red waves and red high heels, had a seductive figure. She raised her hand to adjust her glasses and walked inside.

Wild Gate is a place of 24-hour revelry; there's never a dull moment here.

She glanced at the address on her phone, then took the elevator straight down. As the elevator descended, Mu Yanxin felt a heavy weight in her heart.

She took a deep breath and told herself not to be nervous. If she could shut Song Renshou up with money, she could go back to being Mu Yanxin.

The elevator reached the second basement level.

The entire underground level was a card and board game entertainment floor. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she was stared at by several pairs of eyes, and several armed bodyguards walked towards her.

Their gazes were as cold as knives.

Mu Yanxin smiled, unsure of what to do, when Song Renshou pulled her into another doorway.

Inside was a huge casino with ever-changing lights, you never knew what color the next one would be. Crowds of people stood around each gambling table, creating a high-energy atmosphere.

Song Renshou pulled her into a dimly lit room and glanced at her outfit frantically. "Why are you dressed like this? I almost didn't recognize you. But you're actually prettier than your mother."

His lewd gaze sent chills down her spine, and her wrist ached from being pulled so hard. Mu Yanxin forcefully shook him off, saying, "Didn't you want money?"

Almost blinded by lust, Song Renshou averted his gaze and snatched the briefcase from her hand.

Looking around to make sure no one was there, he squatted down and opened the box, which was full of cash. Song Renshou couldn't contain his excitement, "I've received the money!"

"Can I leave now?" Mu Yanxin turned around, not wanting to stay a moment longer.

Song Renshou curled his lips into a wicked smile, "Don't be in such a hurry to leave!"

"I've given you all the money!" Mu Yanxin's tone rose slightly, but fearing it would attract attention, she had to lower it again. "What else do you want?"

Song Renshou, feigning roguishness, said with a smile, "Play a gamble with me."

"I promise I'll never show my face in front of you again after this gamble! Otherwise, I'll tell Leng Changqing your true identity right now!"

Song Renshou took out his phone to dial a number. It wasn't difficult to find Leng Changqing's contact information; a simple online search would suffice.

We've already taken ninety-nine steps, so one more won't make a difference.

"Fine, but from now on, you must never appear in front of me again."

"Of course, Uncle keeps his word." Song Renshou smiled lewdly and put his arm around her shoulder. Due to the disparity in strength between men and women, Mu Yanxin could only let him hold her.

Upon entering the casino again, Song Renshou, with Mu Yanxin in his arms, was led by a casino employee to an empty gambling table.

The dealer across from me smiled and, as usual, explained the rules of the game. Song Renshou threw his briefcase onto the table and said, "Ten million, exchange it all for chips!"

The dealer replied politely, "Okay, just a moment!"

Winning or losing was Song Renshou's business; Mu Yanxin wasn't interested. She just wanted to leave as soon as possible.

However, she realized she had worried too much. The Wild Gate was so big that the chances of seeing Leng Tingye were almost zero, which reassured her a lot.

Song Renshou had an unusually good run of luck, winning several rounds in a row in the blink of an eye.

The emotions rose higher and higher as the chips in front of them increased.

Song Renshou's eyes shone with an unprecedented brilliance as he continued to bet, each bet resulting in a huge win.

The crowd attracted countless onlookers, and the gambling table was so crowded that it was hard to breathe.

The chips piled up higher and higher in front of him, making everyone around him envious, and they all followed suit.

With his eyes bloodshot from gambling, Song Renshou pushed his hand forward and said, "I'm betting everything."

The chips clattered across the gambling table, the dealer's smile remained unchanged, bright and cheerful, as everyone stared intently at the cards in his hand.

"I'll deal the cards!"

A cold, sharp voice came from behind, and the scene instantly fell silent. Mu Yan's heart skipped a beat, and everyone turned to look.
