Love is a mistake that cannot be escaped
Chapter 11 Rebirth and Revenge
“Yan Yan…” Lu Mingxuan stood by the car, looking at me with a complicated expression, hesitant to speak.
I was taken aback for a moment, then realized he must have seen the letter. "Mingxuan, what brings you here?"
He gave a wry smile. "I was worried about you, so I came to see you." He paused, a hint of concern in his eyes. "Are you really determined to leave him? He's already..."
“Mingxuan,” I interrupted him, not wanting to bring up the past again, “I’ve let it go. Now I just want to study hard and live my life well.”
He was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, you have your choice, and I respect your decision." He took out a business card from his pocket and handed it to me. "This is my friend's company. They are hiring, and I think you are a good fit."
I took the business card; it read "XX Group," a reputable company in the industry. "Mingxuan, thank you." I knew he was helping me.
"No need to thank me, we're friends." He smiled. "I believe that with your abilities, you can definitely achieve something here."
I nodded and gripped the business card in my hand tightly.
With Lu Mingxuan's help, I successfully entered XX Group to work.
I was assigned to the marketing department, where I was responsible for promoting a new project.
I threw myself into my work and, with my solid professional knowledge and keen market insight, I quickly distinguished myself in the company.
However, my outstanding performance aroused Lin Jiaojiao's jealousy.
She somehow found out about me and ended up working at the company as my colleague.
"Hey, isn't this Fu Yan? What are you doing here?"
One day, I was making coffee in the break room when Lin Jiaojiao's voice suddenly came from behind me, her tone full of sarcasm.
I turned around and looked at her coldly. "Lin Jiaojiao, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to work, what, you're not welcoming me?" She raised an eyebrow, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes. "I heard you've been doing quite well lately, becoming a rising star in the company?"
"So what? It's none of your business." I didn't want to waste any more words on her, so I picked up my coffee and tried to leave.
"Fu Yan, don't be so smug!" She grabbed my arm. "Let me tell you, I won't let you get away with this!"
I shook off her hand and said coldly, "Lin Jiaojiao, you'd better not mess with me again, or I won't be polite to you!"
"You..." She was so angry that her face turned pale, but she didn't dare to lay a hand on me again. She could only glare at me fiercely before turning around and leaving.
I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger in my heart.
I know Lin Jiaojiao won't let this go; she'll definitely try every means to get revenge on me.
I must be careful not to let her find any fault with me.
In the days that followed, I worked even harder to achieve better results and not give Lin Jiaojiao any opportunity to take advantage of me.
One evening, I was working overtime when I suddenly received an anonymous email. The email contained only one sentence: "Want to know the truth? Come to XX Cafe, I'll be waiting for you there."
I hesitated for a moment.
Who sent this email?
What truth do they know?
Curiosity and a glimmer of hope prompted me to leave the office and head towards the coffee shop.
In the dim light, a woman in a black trench coat sat in the corner, her head covered by a wide-brimmed hat that obscured most of her face.
I walked over and sat down opposite her.
"Did you email me?" I asked in a low voice.
She nodded slightly, took off her hat, revealing an unfamiliar face. "Miss Fu, I know you've been investigating Du Yue's matter. I can help you."
I was startled and looked at her warily. "Who are you? Why are you helping me?"
"Who I am is not important; what matters is that we have a common goal."
She took a file folder out of her bag and handed it to me.
"You'll find what you're looking for here."
I hesitated for a moment before taking the document.
Inside were documents and photos outlining a complex network of illicit activities—bribery, fraud, and even links to organized crime.
The center of everything is Du Yue.
"Is all of this real?" I looked at her incredulously.
"It's true."
She said firmly, "I know it may be hard for you to accept, but that's the truth."
Du Yue is far more terrifying than you imagine.
I gripped the file folder tightly, my heart churning with turmoil.
If all of this is true, then Gu Yichen… I dare not think any further.
"Why are you telling me this?"
I looked up and stared directly into her eyes.
"Because I want her to be punished by law, and I also want you to see her true colors."
She paused, a hint of sorrow in her voice, "I was once her victim too."
I looked at the unfamiliar woman in front of me. Her face was etched with the marks of time, but her eyes burned with a determined flame.
I choose to believe her, to believe those shocking truths.
I gripped the file folder tightly in my hand, as if I were holding a sharp sword to expose evil.
I quit my job and devoted myself entirely to investigating Du Yue.
I contacted a lawyer, consulted relevant laws, and began collecting more evidence.
I visited those who had been hurt by Du Yue, listened to their experiences, and recorded their pain.
Each story is like a sharp blade, piercing my heart and further strengthening my resolve to uncover the truth.
I held a press conference and invited representatives from major media outlets and people from all walks of life to attend.
Surrounded by flashing lights, I took a deep breath and began my speech.
I recounted my experiences, exposed the evil behind Du Yue, and made public all the evidence I had collected.
My voice was strong and clear, every word resonating deeply with everyone present.
Below the stage, Lin Jiaojiao's face was pale, her eyes darting around as she tried to avoid the gazes of the crowd. She hadn't expected that I would be able to find so much evidence, nor had she expected that I would choose such a drastic method to expose everything to the public.
Her schemes and tricks proved utterly inadequate in the face of the truth.
After my speech, I announced the establishment of a charitable foundation to help those who, like me, have suffered similar harm.
I hope that my experience can serve as a warning to more people, and that the light of justice can shine in every corner.
However, the thrill of revenge did not lessen the pain in my heart.
I looked at myself in the mirror, my eyes filled with unfamiliarity and weariness. I had successfully brought Du Yue to justice, but I had also lost my former innocence and joy.
Can I ever find myself again?
