Everyone was exhausted after filming from day to night. Suwen pursed her lips, her eyelids so heavy they were almost drooping.

Xue Shaofeng handed him a cup of coffee. He looked tired, and even without makeup, he had deep dark circles under his eyes.

As soon as the director called, the two of them immediately perked up and became Wang Jiazhi and Mr. Yi again.

In this scene, Suwen takes the room number from the envelope and arrives at this unfamiliar apartment on Ferguson Road.

The house was a mansion left behind by the British and Americans who had been arrested. Because it had been uninhabited for a long time, dust had settled on the counter. Jia Zhi looked around; Mr. Yi hadn't arrived yet. She remarked that the Chinese were not punctual, a trait that reached its peak in officialdom.

She walked dejectedly to the window. It was the rainy season in Shanghai, and the rain was incessant. She had just closed the wrought-iron Western-style window when a figure was reflected in the glass.

She was startled and turned her back abruptly, staring at him breathlessly.

He sat there casually, a cigarette between his fingers, his eyes fixed intently on her.

Jiazhi felt uncomfortable under his gaze, and said with a mix of coquettishness and reproach, "Don't scare me like that again!"

Mr. Yi remained silent, sitting there like a statue, but his gaze was anything but a statue; it burned fiercely as if he wanted to set her on fire.

She snapped back to her senses, realizing why she was there. Facing him, she unbuckled her trench coat belt, took off the coat that was still damp with raindrops, and sat half-leaning against the bed railing, tilting her head to look at him in a charming and alluring manner.

Jiazhi is so young, she could be his daughter. Her figure is also youthful and mature. She leans down slightly, and the cleavage of her chest is even more visible under the cheongsam.

Mr. Yi, with a cigarette in his mouth, held up his platinum cigarette case and gestured to her.

Jiazhi strode over, straddled his knee with one leg, snatched the cigarette from his mouth, and threw it on the ground.

Men, hypocrites!

Before she could finish her movement, Mr. Yi suddenly stood up and grabbed her waist.

What began as a seductive advance, seemingly inviting yet ultimately unwelcome, turned out to be a true nightmare for Jia Zhi. Mr. Yi was nothing like the easygoing man he was when playing cards with his wives at home, nor did he possess his outward gentlemanly demeanor. The ruthlessness and cruelty he displayed during his work as a secret agent interrogator were fully manifested in her. He was even somewhat of a sexual pervert in bed; he ripped open the slit of her cheongsam, tore off her underwear, unbuckled his belt and whipped her, pinning her tightly to the bed. Jia Zhi could barely breathe. After he subdued her, he twisted her hands behind her back and bound her wrists with the belt. Pain and suffocation struck almost simultaneously. Jia Zhi never wanted to relive that experience, not even in her dreams.

At this point in the filming, Suwen couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. This was the first time in her acting career that she had filmed a bed scene. Although she had prepared herself mentally for the sake of art, and besides, she and Xue Shaofeng weren't actually having sex, and they were both dressed, so there was nothing shameful about it in front of the camera. It was just that... having to pose in that humiliating position made Suwen feel awkward and uncomfortable. She couldn't get over it, and her expression naturally became strange. She didn't know how many times the director had to cut the scene.

Xue Shaofeng, perhaps because he was looking after his junior sister whom he had always taken care of, found it difficult to bring himself to do it; his face was embarrassed and slightly red. When Director Wei yelled "Cut!" again, he retreated from her in frustration.

"You two need to loosen up! Loosen up! Don't you know that? I think you're like injured patients doing rehabilitation exercises, there's no sense of subtlety at all! I'm making a romantic drama, don't worry, it's not an adult film, so don't be shy."

Honestly, they were kissing perfectly fine during the rehearsal, but now that they haven't actually had sex, they're acting all awkward.

When Director Wei let out such a rant in front of everyone, the two of them became even more flustered.

Suwen said somewhat dejectedly, "Director, for such private scenes, having so many people watch will make it hard for those with weaker mental defenses to get excited."

Director Wei got angry as soon as he heard her tone: "When I hired you, what did you promise me? You said you would conquer the audience and the media with your acting skills and abilities. What about now?"

Su Wen immediately felt sad. She probably couldn't handle the bed scene. Xue Shaofeng, a two-time Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor winner, also experienced his first defeat, sitting to the side with his head down.

Suwen felt quite embarrassed and sat down to apologize to him: "Brother Feng, it's all my fault. I've dragged you down and made you the subject of doubt as well."

Xue Shaofeng has acted in so many movies that sex scenes are nothing new to him, but he himself admits that this is the most intense sex scene he has ever filmed.

He shook his head: "Girl, this isn't my problem, nor is it just your problem; it's our problem."

Just like their initial audition scene, both were fully immersed in their roles, and the performance flowed naturally. Even the seemingly unnecessary kiss at the end didn't feel abrupt; instead, it felt perfectly natural. Director Wei later added that kiss to the script, making it a formal scene.

“Girl, we haven’t been interacting enough. I think we should talk more in our free time and nurture our relationship, but you’ve been avoiding me these days.”

Su Wen looked a little embarrassed. It wasn't that she was deliberately trying to avoid Xue Shaofeng, but she wasn't as dependent on or clingy to him as before. Although neither of them said anything about that kiss, she still felt a bit awkward.

Both lead actors were seriously stuck on their scenes, forcing filming to be interrupted, and Suwen and Xue Shaofeng were once again "given a break".

When filming wrapped up, Suwen overheard some gossip in the crew, mostly saying that her acting skills were lacking and that she was slowing down the production schedule.

Su Wen was in a bad mood, so she took out her phone to call Lu Zheng. The call was transferred to voicemail shortly after it was answered. Su Wen angrily hung up the phone. A moment later, Lu Zheng sent a text message: "In a meeting, can't answer. What's wrong?"

The reply was quite quick. Suwen forgave him.

"Busy person? I feel like you're busier than me."

As I sent the last word, a smile unconsciously crept onto my face. My mood instantly improved.

"How can I afford to support you if I'm not busy?"

This endless banter between the couple has become increasingly noticeable lately. They've been apart for so long, and besides their regular nightly phone calls, they occasionally text each other. Lu Zheng initially disdained this childish way of chatting, but talking to her felt like there was never enough to say. Without realizing it, he'd gotten into the habit of sending her a text after finishing his work, either reminding her that it was raining in Shanghai and she should bring an umbrella, or sharing the joy of finalizing a contract. Assistant Xu often witnessed the strange scene of his boss staring at his phone, his thumb flying across the screen, a knowing smile on his face.

After finishing her rant, Suwen didn't forget to complain to him: "Today the director said I acted terribly, and if this continues, he'll replace me."

This time, I waited a long time for a reply.

"Meetings, endless meetings!" She pouted and locked her phone screen.

Texting silently the whole way, Su Wen unknowingly arrived at the hotel. The shadows of the camphor trees loomed menacingly in the night. Stepping on the swaying, dark shadows, she looked up and saw Xue Shaofeng—

And a woman.

They were standing right next to the green belt outside the hotel. Because it was night, it was actually quite secluded and not easily noticed. Perhaps only someone like Su Wen, who doesn't watch where he's going, would accidentally stumble upon this scene.

She didn't want to see this.

Curiosity killed the cat.

The woman tilted her head back and extended her hand in front of Xue Shaofeng. Then Xue Shaofeng placed something he was holding in her hand into her palm.

Suwen, having seen this, decided to turn around and leave. Everyone has their own privacy, especially those in this circle.

Just as she took a step, the woman under the tree suddenly stood on tiptoe, grabbed Xue Shaofeng's collar, and kissed his lips.

Suwen's feet remained rooted to the spot.

Xue Shaofeng didn't react; his expression was unclear in the darkness. Then, the woman seemed anxious and hurriedly tried to kiss his eyes and nose, only to be pushed away by him.

Everything came to an abrupt end.

Like a pantomime.

Suwen shrugged, chuckled to himself, and turned away.

The laugh, however, was carried on the wind and reached someone's ears.

"Who's there?" a woman's voice came from behind.

Sharp and thin, yet fierce.

Su Wen had no choice but to stop. Slowly, she turned around and met Xue Shaofeng's dappled, dreamy eyes under the shadows of the trees.

"Brother Feng..." she said with an awkward smile.

The woman looked surprised, glanced at Xue Shaofeng, and asked, "Do you two know each other?"

"Susu is the actress I'm working with this time," he briefly introduced.

So Suwen smiled politely at her. Now, with the help of the streetlights and moonlight, she could finally see the woman's face clearly. She had long eyebrows, delicate features, and an oval face—a typical beauty, just dressed modestly. Looking at her face, she felt a little familiar.

Suwen couldn't recall it at the moment.

"It's not that I don't want to help you, I've done everything I can," Xue Shaofeng said to the woman, clearly intending to leave.

"Shaofeng..." When he walked to Suwen's side, the woman behind him finally couldn't help but call out.

Such an intimate nickname, something's fishy going on!

Suwen instinctively turned to the side to avoid it.

But Xue Shaofeng clearly had no intention of staying: "Let's contact each other again. Also, don't come to the set to look for me next time."

After saying that, he put his arm around Suwen's shoulder: "What are you doing wandering around outside so late? Aren't you going back to think about your role?"

Suwen, having been led astray by him, didn't know what to say. She waved goodbye to the woman under the tree and quickly followed in his footsteps.

Although she didn't know the relationship between the two of them, Xue Shaofeng clearly wanted to use her to get away, so there was no reason for her to sabotage him.
