Another Dimensional Immortal Cultivation Tale: The Divine Doctor Against the Heavens
Chapter 32: Fun and Joyful Journey
Yunhai and Lin Yu embarked on their journey home, taking their time to relax after a thrilling adventure. They chatted as they walked, occasionally encountering interesting things and people.
That day, they arrived at a bustling little town. Sunlight, like a golden veil, gently spilled into every corner of the town. At the entrance of the town, a huge stone tablet was inscribed with the three ancient characters "Qingfeng Town," and blooming morning glories twined around the tablet, their purple flowers shimmering with a captivating brilliance in the sunlight.
As you enter the town, the first thing that catches your eye is a wide main street. The street is paved with bluestone slabs, polished smooth and shiny by the footsteps of pedestrians. On both sides of the street are shops arranged in a neat and orderly fashion, with a dazzling array of shop signs, some made of wood, some of iron, and some inlaid with gemstones, all gleaming in the sunlight.
Outside a tailor shop, the tailor sat on a small stool, needle and thread in hand, eyes squinting as he intently mended a garment. His fingers moved nimbly through the fabric, each stitch precise and accurate. Occasionally, he would pause, pick up the garment to examine it closely, nod slightly, and continue his work. Beside him lay piles of fabrics of various colors, swaying gently in the breeze, as if telling the story of their impending transformation into beautiful clothing.
Just then, the shopkeeper of the general store finished a transaction and strolled to the entrance of the tailor shop. "Hey, Old Zhang, what are you busy with?" the shopkeeper asked with a smile, his hands behind his back.
The tailor looked up, glanced at the shop owner, smiled, and said, "What else could I be busy with? Mending clothes for customers. Your general store is doing good business; I saw quite a few people there just now."
The shop owner proudly raised his head. "That's right, our shop has everything, so naturally we have a lot of customers. But your tailoring skills are truly exceptional; I think you have the best skills in the whole town."
The tailor waved his hand, "Don't say that, I'm just trying to make a living. Do you have any new good fabrics in your shop? I sometimes need some good materials to make clothes for my customers."
The shop owner's eyes lit up. "Hey, you've come to the right place. I just got a new batch of fabric, and the quality is top-notch. Come and take a look when you're done with your work."
The tailor nodded. "Okay, I'll go after I finish this job. By the way, do you have any soft fabric suitable for linings? I have a customer who has high requirements; he wants something especially soft and comfortable."
The shop owner thought for a moment, "Yes, we do have some, but they're not cheap."
The tailor frowned. "We're such good friends, why are you still charging me so much? Give me a discount, and I'll recommend more customers to you in the future."
The shop owner chuckled, "Alright, considering our years of friendship, I'll give you a discount. But you have to keep your word and recommend more customers to me."
The tailor laughed, "Of course, when have I, Old Zhang, ever gone back on my word? Once I'm done with this busy period, I'll come to your shop and pick out some fabrics. You have to save the good ones for me, okay?"
The shop owner patted his chest confidently, "Don't worry, I'll definitely save it for you. Do you think I don't trust your taste, Old Zhang? By the way, have you made any new styles of clothing lately? I'd like to learn from you."
The tailor smiled smugly, "Of course we have new styles. I'll tell you about them when I come to your shop. Maybe they'll even give you some new inspiration."
The nearby general store was even more bustling. At the entrance, the portly shopkeeper, hands on his hips, beamed and warmly greeted passersby. "Come and see! New arrivals, great quality and low prices!" His booming voice seemed to echo throughout the entire town.
Just then, a simply dressed woman walked over, a hint of hesitation on her face. The shop owner immediately went to greet her, his face beaming with smiles. "Young lady, what would you like to buy? We have everything in our shop."
The woman smiled somewhat embarrassedly and said, "Boss, I'd like to buy a hoe for my husband. I wonder if you have any cheaper ones here?"
The shopkeeper's eyes lit up, and he said with a smile, "Yes, yes, yes, young lady, you've come to the right place. I just got a batch of new hoes, the quality is excellent, and the price is reasonable." As he spoke, he took a hoe out of the shop and handed it to the woman.
The woman took the hoe, examined it carefully, and a satisfied look appeared on her face. "Boss, this hoe looks good, but I wonder if the price could be lowered a bit."
The shop owner scratched his head and said, "Young lady, I've already given you a very cheap price. Look at the quality of this hoe, it's definitely worth the price."
The woman was still somewhat hesitant. She put down the hoe and said, "Then I'll think about it some more."
When the shop owner saw the woman about to leave, he quickly said, "Young lady, don't go. How about this, I'll give you a discount, just to be friends."
The woman smiled upon hearing this. "Alright then, boss, you're such a kind person."
The shop owner smiled, wrapped up the hoe, and handed it to the woman. "Young lady, come again if you need anything in the future."
Further along, there was a snack shop. A mouthwatering aroma wafted from its entrance. The shop was packed with customers; some held steamed buns in one hand and soy milk in the other, eating heartily with satisfied "mmm" sounds; others carefully picked up a fried dough stick with chopsticks, placing it in their mouths before closing their eyes to savor it; still others chatted and laughed with those around them as they ate. The owner, a kind-looking middle-aged woman, wore an apron and busily moved between the stove and the tables. She would place a plate of steaming buns on a customer's table one moment, and then quickly and skillfully wipe the table with a cloth the next.
The streets were bustling with people: wealthy people in splendid attire, farmers in simple clothes, and performers in outlandish costumes. Some strolled leisurely, hands behind their backs, their steps slow and unhurried; others hurried along, carrying bundles, their steps quick and their eyes filled with anxiety; still others chatted with friends, gesturing animatedly, their expressions rich and varied. Children ran and played in the streets, their laughter as clear and melodious as silver bells. "Come and chase me!" a little boy shouted as he ran, his hair slightly disheveled by the wind, his face beaming with joy. Several friends followed behind, chasing each other, turning left and right like a flock of cheerful little birds.
At the street corner, a street performer was putting on an acrobatic show. Dressed in red with a black hat and exaggerated makeup, he held several plates, tossing them into the air and catching them perfectly. The plates seemed to come alive in his hands, tumbling and spinning, a dazzling display of skill. He stood on one leg, then spun around, his movements agile and nimble. A crowd of spectators surrounded him, cheering enthusiastically. "Bravo! Fantastic!" some clapped, their hands red from the effort; others stared wide-eyed, mouths agape in astonishment; still others nodded gently to the music, their bodies swaying slightly.
Not far away, there was a flower girl. Her basket was filled with all kinds of flowers: roses, lilies, chrysanthemums, and more. The flowers emitted a sweet, intoxicating fragrance. The girl smiled and gently promoted her flowers to passersby. Sometimes she would pick up a rose, smell it, and then close her eyes in blissful intoxication; other times she would pick up a lily, gently stroking its petals, her eyes filled with affection. "Buy a flower, for your loved one," she would say, her voice like heavenly music, bringing joy to everyone who heard it.
In the town square, a group of children were flying kites. The kites soared high in the sky, some shaped like butterflies, some like eagles, and some like dragons. The children ran and laughed, their faces filled with childlike innocence and joy. "Look at my kite, it flies the highest!" a little boy shouted proudly, running and letting out the line, the spool in his hand spinning rapidly. A little girl beside him looked up at the kite in the sky, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Her little hand gripped the kite string tightly, as if afraid the kite would fly away.
On the other side of the town, there was a market. The market was filled with all sorts of goods: fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious pastries, and exquisite handicrafts. The vendors called out loudly, attracting customers. "Fresh fruit, cheap!" "Handmade pastries, come and try some!" The market was bustling with people. An old man was bending over, carefully selecting fruit. He picked up an apple, looked at it, gently squeezed it, and then nodded in satisfaction. A woman next to him was haggling with a vendor, her finger pointing to a basket of pastries, a determined look on her face. "Can you make it cheaper, boss?" The vendor shook his head helplessly, then smiled and said, "Alright, seeing how thrifty you are, I'll sell it to you cheaper."
Yunhai looked around excitedly, her eyes full of curiosity. She wore a light blue dress, the hem of which swayed gently in the wind, like a blooming blue flower. Her long hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, adorned with a few small flowers, making her appear exceptionally fresh and refined. Her face was beaming with a radiant smile, as if nothing in the world could trouble her.
"Lin Yu, look how lively this town is! Let's go for a stroll," Yun Hai said, pulling Lin Yu's arm. Her voice was clear and melodious, like the sweet sound of silver bells.
Lin Yu looked at her with doting eyes and nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to you." Lin Yu was dressed in a white robe with a black belt around his waist, his long hair tied up, making him look handsome and dashing. His eyes were deep and gentle, as if they could see through people's hearts. The corners of his mouth were slightly upturned, with a faint smile that made people feel extremely at ease.
As they entered the town, they were immediately captivated by all sorts of novelties. There were vendors selling handicrafts, exquisitely crafted and lifelike, so beautiful they were irresistible. There were also vendors selling snacks, their enticing aromas making their mouths water. And then there were vendors selling all sorts of strange and unusual props, filling them with curiosity.
Yunhai was like a child, looking around and touching everything, overjoyed. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, as if she had discovered a whole new world. She picked up a beautiful handicraft, admiring it carefully and praising it repeatedly.
"This is so beautiful! Lin Yu, look at this!" Yunhai said excitedly.
Lin Yu couldn't help but laugh as he looked at her adorable appearance. "You are just like a cunning little fox."
Yunhai pouted and pretended to be angry, saying, "You're the cunning one! I'm just clever and cute."
Just as they were having fun, they suddenly heard a commotion. They looked in the direction of the sound and saw a group of people gathered together, watching something interesting.
Yunhai, overcome with curiosity, pulled Lin Yu and squeezed into the crowd. "Come on, let's go see what happened."
They finally managed to squeeze to the front, where they saw a young man and an old man arguing. The young man, his face flushed, angrily pointed at the old man and said, "You old liar, the thing you're selling isn't as magical as you say at all!"
The old man retorted, not to be outdone, "What do you know? This is an ancestral treasure of mine, capable of curing diseases and saving lives. If you don't know its value, don't talk nonsense."
Hearing their argument, Yunhai's heart stirred. She stepped forward and carefully examined the old man's item. It was a small black bottle with strange symbols engraved on it. The bottle exuded a mysterious aura, making one want to investigate further.
"Grandma, what's in this bottle?" Yunhai asked. Her voice was gentle and pleasant, making people feel incredibly warm and friendly.
The old man's eyes lit up when he saw the sea of clouds. "Young lady, you have good taste! This bottle contains a magical potion that can cure all diseases." The old man's voice was hoarse and deep, carrying the vicissitudes of time.
