The Rebirth of Bai Qi: The Way of Qi
Chapter 15 Horrifying Ancient Road
As dawn broke, Bai Qi walked alone on a winding ancient road. All around was quiet, with only the sound of the wind whispering in his ears.
He wore a long, dark trench coat, tightly cinched at the waist, which made him appear even taller and more imposing.
At this moment, he did not seem to have the imposing presence of a general in armor, but his trench coat was enough to show his uniqueness and lone courage.
He closed his eyes slightly, letting the morning breeze caress his face, immersing his mind in the vast天地 (heaven and earth), exuding a serene harmony with nature.
Bai Qi took a deep breath and firmly memorized the secrets of the notes he had obtained in the valley.
He walked alone on this ancient road, his heart filled with endless anticipation and trepidation.
He chose to travel alone because he knew the unknown risks ahead were enormous and he did not want his companions to be in danger because of him.
Dense forests grow on both sides of the ancient road, with towering trees blocking out the sun and lush green vines climbing all over their trunks, forming a natural barrier that hides the ancient road within.
Walking along this path, Bai Qi felt a strange and unusual sensation, as if some unseen mystery was hidden deep within the ancient road.
Bai Yao's words flashed through his mind, those words seemed like a call from the heavens, guiding him fearlessly toward—that point where power and destiny intersected.
"There truly is a powerful and mysterious force here," Bai Qi mused to himself. He quickened his pace, following an intuition as he ventured deeper into the unknown.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, for an ancient stone gate appeared before him.
The stone gate was embedded in the mountain wall, and it was carved with complex runes that were both unfamiliar and strangely familiar.
Bai Qi's heart stirred, and he immediately understood that this was the key to his destiny.
However, a strange figure stood in front of the stone gate. He was a tall and burly man wearing a gray cloak, his face masked, revealing only a pair of sharp, eagle-like eyes.
The man stood there quietly, as if he had been waiting for a long time.
Bai Qi stopped and met the gaze of the person in the shadows. A strange glint flashed in those eagle eyes, sending chills down one's spine.
"Who are you? Why are you blocking my way?" Bai Qi asked calmly, suppressing his inner doubts and casually questioning the other party.
The cloaked man did not answer immediately. He slowly removed his mask, revealing a bronze face with a calm and undisturbed expression, as if he had never been disturbed by the changes of the world over the past thousand years.
The elegance and mystery of an eagle intertwined in his gaze. He smiled slightly, his voice deep and magnetic: "General Bai, just as I expected, you have arrived."
"Who are you?" Bai Qi frowned slightly, his intuition telling him that this person was no ordinary person.
"My name is Xu Qian. I was once a royal bodyguard of the Wei Kingdom. By chance, I learned some secrets of the ancient road."
His tone was calm, but there was a force that should not be underestimated.
"Xu Qian?" Bai Qi was secretly shocked, but this name was not well-known.
His expression remained unchanged, and he coldly asked, "How did you know I would come here?"
And why are you waiting for me here?
Xu Qian pondered for a moment, then smiled slightly: "General Bai, the power you possess is earth-shattering. This is a mystery that has puzzled me for many years, and now I finally have a solution."
But all of this is far more vast and complex than you can see, and I am merely a guardian of this ancient path.
"Guardians?" Bai Qi's gaze deepened as he pondered.
Since this man who calls himself Xu Qian is prepared, perhaps we can get more information from him.
"Indeed. This place is the entrance to the ancient ruins, and it is the place we are tasked with guarding."
Fate has led me here, and given me the opportunity to help those who come here.
Xu Qian said calmly.
Bai Qi's heart stirred slightly, realizing that Xu Qian harbored no hostility and might truly be the guardian of this place, as he had said.
He relaxed slightly, met her gaze, but never looked away.
"I hope Brother Xu can clear up my doubts." Bai Qi politely cupped his hands. He knew that on this path, having more friends meant having more choices.
Xu Qian nodded and said, "General Bai's journey is guided by fate, and this ancient road does indeed hold the key to unlocking the mystery of your power."
But the journey is fraught with danger, requiring composure and a calm approach.
Bai Qi looked at Xu Qian in front of him and felt a strange sense of emotion.
Life is like a journey. Is meeting someone like Xu Qian a predestined opportunity, or a deliberate arrangement on the journey ahead?
"Thank you for your help, Brother Xu." Bai Qi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Xu Qian.
Xu Qian did not linger. He leaped up and disappeared into the dense forest in a few bounds, vanishing without a trace as if he had never been there at all.
Bai Qi gazed at the ancient stone gate, which stood like a historical barrier, separating the past from the future.
He hesitated for a moment, then decisively stepped inside.
Inside the stone gate, the light suddenly dimmed. The air was filled with the scent of dust and the accumulated scent of time, and in this suffocating silence, he felt a silent calling.
Bai Qi walked slowly forward, and faint light appeared on both sides of the stone wall, like distant stars in the night sky.
Each star carries a unique runic implication, as if guarding this hidden space.
Bai Qi carefully examined these ancient runes, thinking to himself, "These runes seem to be related to the Dao of Qi Refining... but why are they so strange?"
He walked slowly and deliberately, taking each step carefully and remembering every detail.
Because he knew that any overlooked detail could be the key to subduing the danger.
However, as they delved deeper, Bai Qi's state of mind also underwent subtle changes.
Countless unknown illusions inadvertently invaded his consciousness, and scenes, some real and some fake, unfolded before his eyes.
Among them were the sounds of battle, the laughter of old friends, and even a pair of familiar eyes that had kept him company through the long night.
Bai Qi rubbed his eyes hard, trying to clear his mind. He muttered to himself, "This is just an illusion. I need to stay awake."
As his pace quickened, a strange clarity gradually awakened within him.
Even when trapped in an illusion, his heart remained as steadfast as a rock, unyielding and indomitable.
Finally, he arrived at a spacious area, which was a stone chamber and the end of the secret passage.
In the center of an ancient stone platform sits a short sword that glows with a bluish light, its gleaming blade exuding an unparalleled sense of antiquity.
"This sword... is actually a Qi-refining weapon." Bai Qi's heart stirred, realizing that this sword was related to the power within his body, and perhaps it could allow him to glimpse the deeper mysteries of the Qi-refining path.
But just as he approached the sword, the entire stone chamber seemed to have entered another time and space.
Bai Qi felt a slight tremor in his body, and in an instant, his surroundings transformed into a place where demons surrounded him, making him feel terrified.
He was surrounded by phantoms like a hundred ghosts walking at night. The shadows had hideous faces and lunged at him viciously, their eyes filled with endless resentment and hatred.
Bai Qi drew his sword from his waist almost reflexively, the sword flashing and creating a thin, fleeting ray of light in the illusion.
These illusions came in all shapes and sizes, including human figures, terrifying beasts, scenes of battle, and some past memories that he shouldn't have had.
In the illusion, Bai Qi suddenly saw an old man, a hermit dressed in simple clothes. His face was strikingly similar to Bai Qi's, his posture was outstanding, and a calm spiritual aura surrounded him.
"Why are you so similar to me?" Bai Qi couldn't help but ask.
The old man smiled slightly: "Because you and I share the same fate, we will bear the same destiny."
"The same destiny?" Bai Qi was shocked.
The old man did not answer, but turned and left, disappearing into the distance as the phantom trembled until it was no longer visible.
Bai Qi stood there stunned, his heart struck by lightning. He then realized that all of this was a projection of his own hidden soul, a knot in his heart that he had never untied, and the most severe test that fate had given him.
"Fate... what should I choose?" Bai Qi murmured to himself.
In the time that followed, he fought fiercely against these phantoms, his heart torn between loyalty and hatred.
He had never been so close to his true self, nor had he ever felt so desperate, yet so full of hope.
Amidst the surging illusions, Bai Qi seemed to vaguely perceive an unprecedented power, a power that transcended time and space, as if it were peering at him from another dimension.
"Now that things have come to this, how can we retreat?" His entire soul was screaming.
Yes, nothing could shake Bai Qi's resolve, and that's why he never backed down.
In the illusion, he found a part of himself that he had once lacked, a kind of fearless and unwilling inspiration.
Just as he had calmed his mind and entered a state of ethereal nirvana that transcended everything, countless blue lights suddenly appeared around the stone chamber. As he looked up, the scene deep in the ancient road surged and trembled like a dream.
The sky suddenly changed, dark clouds gathered, and a fierce wind arose. The entire ruins, along with the stone chamber, seemed to tremble slightly in response.
He could actually sense that the power of those ancient ruins resonated with him in some way; they surged like a torrent, broadening his perspective and opening up a new worldview for him.
Those dark clouds, gathering together, seem to be telling the story of a new chapter in Bai Qi's destined path, a legacy accumulated over the long river of time.
“It’s time.” Bai Qi gazed at the horizon, fearless, as if he already knew the choice that lay ahead.
He turned and left the stone chamber, bravely stepping onto the ancient path sealed off by the power of Heaven.
As Bai Qi emerged from the stone chamber, he found himself facing a bottomless cliff, but his resolve was undoubtedly stronger than before, and he strode resolutely toward the destiny that awaited him.
The stone door slowly closed behind him, as if sealing away all his past years and memories.
However, just as Bai Qi finally crossed the boundary of fate, a sudden gust of wind arose and dark clouds rolled in, seemingly foreshadowing the impending turmoil of destiny.
Bai Qi looked up and saw demonic clouds churning in the sky, and deafening thunder came from the clouds, echoing across the heavens like the drumbeat of destiny, instantly enveloping the entire ancient road.
Upon learning that Bai Qi was in danger, everyone rushed to his rescue. Han Xin, Fu, and Situ Yan hurried across the wilderness, witnessing the power of the intertwined lightning, which fueled their unease and quickened their pace.
"Quickly, General Bai is in danger!" Han Xin shouted, gripping his sword and rushing ahead, his determination and loyalty at that moment were incredibly strong.
Han Fu and Situ Yan dared not rest for a moment, and bravely marched forward, determined to meet the approaching storm and lightning.
People are bold and fearless, charging straight ahead, fighting against wind and rain, capable of shattering the sky, and they never back down.
Bai Qi stood at the center of the scattered thunderous energy, the echoes around him surging like a raging torrent.
He knew that his choice would bring down a divine tribulation, and there was no turning back; he had no choice but to face it.
This lightning was Heaven's test of the ancient power. At this moment, his mind was as still as water, compassion and determination merging, containing a mighty force powerful enough to shake the heavens. "It has finally arrived."
He murmured to himself, his words containing both defiance and magnanimity. How could he possibly evade the tribulation of heaven?
Yes, this was destined to be a test for him, and from the moment Bai Qi stepped onto the ancient road, he was already free from all constraints.
He stood in perilous territory, awaiting the final decision of fate, his heart surging with an incomparably strong fighting spirit.
As time passes, his nemesis may still be on the other side. But at the center of this boundless power, his own strength awakens, resonating with heaven and earth.
He, Bai Qi, will use boundless courage and fortitude to reverse that predetermined fate.
