The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse
Chapter 96: Tompenny and Dross's negotiations break down and he is kidnapped; Rick decides to e
5:30 AM
There are 6 hours and 30 minutes left until the Atlanta CDC's self-destruction.
Inside the Atlanta Police Department's Tompney office.
Having not slept all night, Tompney paced back and forth in his foggy office.
"Damn it, 12 hours have passed and there's still no news."
With Hua Zi's help, Tompney wasn't sleepy at all, but his restless heart was becoming increasingly difficult to suppress.
Dros gave him a deadline of 10 a.m. the next day, or he would personally send soldiers to take over the police station, which made Tompney very uneasy.
"Thump~ thump~ thump"
Three knocks on the door caused Tompney's expression to change slightly once again.
"Please come in."
At that moment, a Black soldier wearing a National Guard combat uniform walked in carrying a black briefcase.
"who are you?"
The soldier stared at Tompney expressionlessly, then took a blue-covered document from his black briefcase, placed it on Tompney's desk, and left without saying a word to him.
This scene made Tompney lose face. He was already furious, and when faced with the soldier's lack of response and inaction, he exploded like a lit powder keg.
"Damn bastard! How dare you ignore me? Believe me or not, I'll kill you."
"Hehe, Director Tompney, I hope you think carefully before you say that."
Just then, Colonel Dross walked in from outside with a sinister smile on his face.
Upon seeing who it was, Tompney immediately cowered. He wasn't the only one who came in; there were also the two armed guards who had escorted Torek last time.
Seeing this, Tompney went to the windowsill and opened the window to let in some fresh air.
Instantly, the smoke-filled office was completely cleared.
Tompenny sat back down in his office and said to Dross with a frustrated expression.
"Deroth, you're early. I remember our agreement was for before 10 a.m. tomorrow, that's a full 28 hours."
Delos sat down on the sofa and glanced at the guard next to him, who immediately understood.
He walked over to Delos, skillfully pulled a Cuban cigar from his combat backpack, and handed it to Delos.
Delos took the cigar, and the white soldier lit it for him himself. He took a deep drag, crossed his legs, looked at Tompenny sitting opposite him, exhaled the smoke from his mouth, and slowly said.
"Thompney, watch your attitude. If you dare to talk to me like that again, believe me, my men will wipe out this tiny place of yours in no time!"
Tompini was speechless after hearing that. If his armory hadn't been robbed and his trusted SWAT team hadn't been there, Tompini would have been able to argue with DeRozs.
"Mr. Dross, I'm sorry, my attitude was poor. May I ask what you need me to do for you?"
Seeing that Tompney had yielded, Dross was in high spirits. He waved to his men, and another white male guard, seeing this, beckoned four men to carry a huge box into Tompney's office.
"boom"
The huge box was thrown on the office floor, raising a little dust.
Tompenny looked at the huge wooden box with a puzzled expression, and then looked at Dross with some confusion.
Dross gave his subordinate a look.
Seeing this, the two soldiers next to him took out two crowbars and began to remove nails from the four corners of the box.
Tens of seconds later.
The wooden planks on the box have been removed.
Tompenny looked inside the box with a puzzled expression.
A steel machine used to bind limbs appeared before the crowd.
"what is this?"
Tompenny stared blankly at the mechanical creation.
DeRozs responded with a smile.
"This is the task I'm going to assign to you next."
Upon hearing that there was still a mission, Tompney's face turned ashen, his relaxed expression turning ferocious once again.
“Dross, this mission is not part of the deal we discussed earlier.”
"Really?"
As soon as Dross finished speaking, the two guards next to him immediately raised their AR15 assault rifles and aimed them at Tompney's head.
"Damn bastard, what do you want? If you dare kill me here, you won't be able to leave easily."
"Heh, Tompney, you've been a dog from the beginning, a mad dog that only cares about profit, a pawn abandoned by the deputy mayor of Atlanta."
"Deroth, stop spouting nonsense and tell me what you really want!"
Dross stood up, walked to Tompney's desk with a playful expression, opened the blue folder, took out a few photos, and placed them in front of Tompney.
Then, Tompney picked up the photo and looked at it carefully. This glance instantly brought back a scene from that day that he would never forget.
The scene in the photo is that of the lord-level zombie who commanded the horde of corpses to wreak havoc in the underground research institute that night.
Seeing these photos and that strange mechanical device, Tompney's mind began to race.
A dozen seconds later, he thought of something and said to Dross with a look of horror.
"Dross, is this strange mechanical device used to capture the lord zombie that commands the horde?"
"Congratulations on getting it right! You'll be the first bait as a reward, hahaha."
Dross let out a villainous laugh, and upon hearing this, Thompney was immediately displeased and pressed the alarm button next to his desk.
Subsequently, an alarm sounded from the loudspeakers throughout the police station.
"Damn Dross, you never intended to cooperate with me in the first place, did you? This is all just you using us as cannon fodder."
“That’s right, Tompney. This post-apocalyptic world full of freedom and violence has no place for you anymore. A fat pig like you who has no skills and can only play dirty tricks doesn’t deserve to live in this world. Use your last bit of value as a ‘human’ for the organization.”
As soon as Dross finished speaking, a tranquilizer dart was shot in from outside the door.
"Pfft"
The tranquilizer dart struck Tompenny's obese belly with perfect accuracy.
"Ugh, damn Dros, I won't let you get away with this."
After saying this, Tompney fell into a coma.
"Tie him to this and then send him to his reconnaissance squad. Brooke, you escort him down yourself and relay my orders to Brian. He knows what to do."
"Okay, Colonel."
After saying that, DeRoss, with a cigar in his mouth, walked outside on his own. The soldier named Brooke tied Tompenny up and then called the black soldiers from before to drag Tompenny toward the small warehouse behind the police station.
At that moment, next to an inconspicuous cactus pot on the office balcony, a mini surveillance camera recorded all the conversations and scenes inside the office.
Inside the underground research institute's weapons factory.
Rick, holding a tablet computer, sat in an office chair, pondering what had just happened.
At this moment, Kobe Bryan, with a gun pointed at his head, had his hands raised and his back to Rick, while Moore, standing to the side, was pointing an M14 Crazy Horse that he had snatched from Ivory at him.
Just then, Rick stood up, walked up to Cole Bryan, patted his shiny bald head, and said with an unfriendly expression.
“Rick, you know what? I’m a very easy person to get along with. I believe in one principle: as long as someone I like and agrees to be my subordinate, I will give them what I have, just like the Daryl and Moore brothers. I will never treat them unfairly.”
Rick paused, took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth. Daryl, seeing this, immediately took out a solid gold lighter and lit the cigarette for Rick, just like a sycophantic lackey.
Seeing this, Rick tossed a whole box of cigarettes to Daryl as a reward. He took a puff of the cigarettes and blew smoke into Kobe Bryant's face.
Brian was provoked by this and angrily yelled at Rick in front of him.
"Cough cough cough, you bastard! I don't know Dross at all! I have no idea about their plan!"
"It doesn't matter if you don't know. As long as you agree to do me a favor, I will forgive and forget about you. Whether you stay with me or choose to leave, I will not stop you."
"Tell me, what do you need me to do?"
"It's nothing, I just hope you can stay here and cooperate with me in a play, and I'll be back before tonight."
"Okay! I agree, but if I choose to leave, I hope you can return my weapon, even if it's equipment belonging to someone else in the police station."
"Okay, I agree. I hope you won't try anything funny later."
After Rick finished speaking, he personally untied Brian.
Brian cracked his knuckles and glared fiercely at Daryl and Moore.
Daryl and Mor gave Brian a disdainful look before standing back behind Rick.
Rick had been planning this all along. When he learned that Brian had a dirty deal with DeRozs, he was quite disappointed. When Daryl and Moore saw this, they disarmed Brian, which led to what just happened.
Rick first approached Coacheta and Diane, explaining the plan in detail to them. The two were very supportive after hearing Rick's explanation and then began preparations according to his plan.
As for Mihoko and Liz, Rick had already told them about it when Brian was disarmed in the bedroom. When Liz heard that he could take down Tompney and Dross, she was very excited and fully supported Rick's actions.
After Liz and Rick had physical contact, she confessed everything, including that the information she had was actually unfinished. But Rick was a womanizer and had a strong desire to take responsibility for his actions.
Rick spent 300 points to exchange for a spatial ring and put it on her, which deeply moved Liz. After Mieko explained the ring's powerful attributes, Liz decided to give up returning to the Dawn of Light organization and instead stay with Rick. Liz's intuition told her that with this man, she could have anything she wanted in the future.
Rick then took Mieko and Liz into his personal space. He then learned about Dross and Tompney through the mini surveillance camera. He planned to take this opportunity to get rid of Tompney and Dross. So he decided to stage a play to completely kill the two of them and officially take over the place.
Just then, Coacheta, dressed in SWAT special operations gear, and Diane, dressed in civilian clothes, came out and spoke to Rick.
"We're ready, when do we leave?"
"Just now."
After Rick finished speaking, he led everyone out of the base.
