The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse

Chapter 87: MG338 has caught the eye of the Coachatas, and Rick and Mihoko decide to teach them a le

Inside the emergency maintenance passage of the underground research institute's biological laboratory.

Rick and his group were slowly moving towards the weapons factory.

Unbeknownst to them, the lord-level zombie about to smash through the weapons factory gates was leading the other zombies in the research institute toward their lair, the "biological laboratory."

Throughout the journey, Diane and Coacheta's eyes never left the SIG-MG338 machine gun on Rick's back. They were completely shocked by what they had just witnessed. Although they had seen all kinds of weapons and equipment during their military service, they had never seen a weapon like the one Rick was carrying. Coacheta and Diane even realized something.

If every soldier had Rick's machine gun while suppressing the zombies in Evan City, they wouldn't have suffered such heavy losses.

Thinking of this, Diane tugged at Coachella, who was walking behind Rick and Mieko, and whispered something to her.

"Cochera, what should I do with the gun Rick has?"

"Honey, not only do you want it, I want it too! Who wouldn't be tempted by such a powerful weapon?"

Diane touched her belly, then looked at Rick in front of her, who was hugging and cuddling with Mieko, and said to Coachta with a bitter feeling in her heart.

“Coacheta, didn’t you come with Rick? He doesn’t seem like a stingy person. You should talk to him properly. Maybe he can give us that weapon. I’ll talk to Mieko. If we work together, Rick will give us the weapon. Once we have the weapon, we’ll be able to protect ourselves, along with Dr. Liz.”

Kocheta touched the Seghala 12 combat shotgun in his hand, then looked at his wife's pleading eyes, and decided to swallow his pride and give up.

Kochetta quickly walked up to Rick, patted him on the shoulder, and said to him with an awkward expression.

"Hey buddy, I need your help with something."

Upon hearing this, Rick recalled how Kochetta had insulted him as an idiot during his chuunibyou episode. He snorted coldly, then turned away with a feigned anger, ignoring Kochetta.

This left Coachata feeling caught in a dilemma. Behind him was his wife's burning gaze, while Rick beside him seemed a little angry with him.

Kochetta's attempt to strike up a conversation ended in failure, while his wife Diane looked at the defeated man with a disappointed expression.

Seeing this, Diane decided to try to persuade Mieko, and he whispered to Coacheta.

“Coacheta, call Rick aside and chat with him. I’ll work on Mieko’s mindset. I think she’s a simple-minded girl. From what I’ve observed, Rick listens to Mieko a lot. If I can persuade Mieko to talk to Rick, he’ll give us the weapons.”

However, what Kochetta and Diane didn't know was that Rick and Mihoko, who were walking ahead, overheard every word of their secret conversation. Rick and Mihoko sneered.

“Wife, do you see this? This is human nature. I told you the other day that when I become strong enough, some people will set their sights on me. They will covet the weapons in my hands. They will be jealous, afraid, and want to kill me and take them for themselves. This is human nature in a post-apocalyptic environment. Once they have this thought, there is no turning back. And those who have this thought will not care about the help we give them. When this seed of greed is planted in their hearts, it only needs a trigger to take root and sprout. Once this seed grows into a towering tree, they will turn from friends and teammates into thugs who kill you and me. Do you understand, Mihoko?”

Mieko nodded and said softly.

"Yes, I knew, but I didn't expect them to be like this."

Rick patted Mieko's head to comfort her.

"Silly girl, remember this: trust no one except your husband. Even your best friend will betray you without hesitation when faced with life or death or riches and honor. Especially in this zombie-infested apocalyptic environment, the human heart is often more terrifying than the zombies. If you trust the wrong person, you will die without a burial place."

Upon hearing this, Mihoko blinked her large, bright eyes and stared at her man.

"Would you betray me?"

Rick was taken aback when he heard this, then patted Mieko's head affectionately to comfort her.

"How could that be, my silly little thing? In this world, the person I trust the most is you. Even if I believe my own child would betray me, I would never believe that you would betray me. That's the power of love. To love someone is to believe in them unconditionally, just like I do now. I love you so much that I'm willing to give everything for you, even if it means betraying everyone else."

Upon hearing this, Mihoko blushed instantly. She hugged Rick's arm and leaned against him, feeling the warmth of her man's body and immersing herself in what her husband had just said.

Rick held Mieko with a doting expression, thinking about the two new lives inside her. He wondered how he would explain his special abilities to the children after they were born.

Thinking of this, Rick even pictured his family of four picnicking and playing in a idyllic manor, imagining his two little ones calling him "Dad" and Mieko, now a young woman, calling him "husband." Rick's heart melted. He knew that everything before him was fake, and Mieko was just a supporting character in this stage. Apart from himself, everything else was fake. But how he wished he could live happily in this world forever.

But when he thought that everything he had could be easily taken away by that "being", he was filled with anxiety. In his current state, he had no chance of winning against an enemy of that level. Even if his system did its best to help him, he still couldn't survive for more than 5 seconds against such an enemy.

With that thought in mind, Rick decided to cherish everything he had, even if it wasn't real. As long as he treated Mieko and their two future children well in the days to come, he would have no regrets even if he was eventually wiped out by that being.

Just then, Coacheta and Diane, who was heavily pregnant, caught up with Rick, who was engrossed in their own world. Coacheta then looked guilty and said to Rick...

"Rick, I need to talk to you."

Just then, Diane, looking guilty, said to Mieko beside her.

"Mieko, I also have something I need to talk to you about."

Rick, after witnessing this scene, regained his composure, exchanged a glance with Mieko, and then the two nodded to each other before walking aside to talk.

Mieko was pulled aside by Diane for a quiet conversation.

"Mieko, I have a request for you, and I hope you can help me."

Mihoko immediately thought of what Diane had said to Kocheta. She instantly switched into Oscar-winning actress mode, pretending to be innocent and naive, blinking her big black eyes and speaking innocently to Diane.

"Hmm? Diane, tell me, what can I do to help you with?"

Seeing Mihoko like this, Diane's guilt and remorse grew even heavier. She was having an internal struggle, with the image of a soldier and justice attacking the image of selfishness represented by her pregnant form.

Mihoko, however, was clearly unaware of the complex emotions in Diane's mind. She continued to stare innocently into Diane's eyes, making the latter afraid to meet her gaze. Thus, the two fell into a delicate state.

On Rick's side, Coachta didn't have the same rich inner expression as Diane. He spoke to Rick in the tone of a former second lieutenant in the army.

“Rick, we’re all adults. I want you to hand over the machine gun on your back. You know, in this post-apocalyptic world, as your ancient Eastern saying goes, ‘A common man is innocent, but possessing a treasure is a crime.’ I hope you can recognize the bigger picture. After you’ve completed Dr. Liz’s rescue, hand over your gun and ammunition to me. Once we return to the Dawn of Light organization, I will take you to see General Sherman. He is now the commander of this unit and one of the most powerful figures in the Dawn of Light organization. I guarantee that with my introduction, you will become a capable person whose status is no less than mine and Diane’s.”

Hearing Coacheta's words, which were clearly threatening and seemed to be an attempt to get something for nothing, Rick decided to "win him over with kindness" and responded to Coacheta.

"Oh? You want the SIG-MG338 machine gun behind me? No problem, I have two requests. If you can fulfill them, I'll give you two of these guns."

When Kocheta heard that the deal was promising and that he would also receive an extra gun, his expression was as happy as if Diane had given birth to his son.

He laughed triumphantly.

"Alright, alright, buddy, don't just ask for two, you can ask for three."

Rick was secretly pleased to see that Chetta had taken the bait.

"Kochetta, you shouldn't have been greedy for me. Although I know that you and Diane weren't like this when you were driving a modified Hummer recklessly in Evan City, after experiencing the apocalypse, and now that you've joined the evil organization 'Dawn of Light' that manufactures biological weapons, who can guarantee that you're still the same Kochetta Solomon you used to be?"

Thinking of this, Rick said with a cold smile.

"Kocheta, my first request is that you help me kill all the zombies in this underground research facility. This is a mission assigned to me by my superiors, and it would take too long for me to complete it alone, so I need your help. Can you do that?"

Upon hearing this, Kocheta responded very generously.

"No problem. Since it's a task from above, it's only right that I help you."

“Very good. Now, for the second request, after fulfilling the first request, seeing how strong you are, I want you to test my strength. I only need to fire one shot. Of course, I won't use any weapons, nor will I attack your head. As long as you can withstand this blow without getting knocked out, I'll give you these two SIG-MG338 machine guns, including the .338 Magnum armor-piercing rounds and the micro rockets that were fired earlier. How about that?”

Upon hearing this, Coachta looked Rick up and down. When he realized that Rick's muscles were far less powerful than his own, he figured Rick's attack wouldn't be very effective. Besides, Rick said he wouldn't attack the head, so there was no way Coachta would knock Rick unconscious.

After thinking for a moment, Coacheta nodded and said.

"Okay, I agree. I hope you keep your word."

"Very good, Coacheta, I'll also give you this advice: I hope you'll keep your word when the time comes."

After the two finished talking, they called over Mieko and Diane. Coacheta nodded excitedly at Diane. Seeing Coacheta's expression, Diane knew that the matter was settled. Rick smiled at Mieko but didn't say anything.

After seeing Rick's expression, Mihoko chose to trust her man. Subsequently, the two couples, each with their own ulterior motives, rushed towards the emergency repair passage of the weapons factory not far away.
