The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse

Chapter 72 The bromance between the Dixon brothers and Old Six eavesdropping behind their backs!

10:10 am

Atlanta Police Department Jail

The brothers Daryl and Moore were secretly discussing something in a cell.

"Moore, do you think we can escape?"

Looking at his younger brother's helpless expression, Moore said to Daryl with a guilty look on his face.

"I don't know. Two days have passed, and I don't know how things are going with the boss. If I hadn't been careless, we wouldn't be in this situation."

Daryl felt a little bad looking at his jerk brother, but he just patted Moore on the shoulder to comfort him.

"Hey, you jerk, this isn't like you. Where did that arrogant, self-important old man go? You've been defeated by just a little setback?"

Upon hearing Daryl's words, Moore's expression turned ashen, and he punched Daryl's arm hard.

“You brat, how dare you talk to your older brother like that? All these years you haven’t learned anything but how to mock your older brother. If it weren’t for me looking after you, you would have been beaten to death by that bastard father long ago.”

Upon hearing Moore's words, Daryl fell into a brief silence.

Daryl recalled that whenever his alcoholic father punched and kicked him, Moore would always rush to his side to shield him from the drunkard's blows. Moore was only a little older than Daryl at the time, but their alcoholic father's punches were so powerful that he didn't care whether the two brothers could withstand them, often leaving them bruised, swollen, and bleeding.

Whenever Daryl thought of how Moore was beaten half to death while shielding him, his love for Moore grew even stronger.

“Moore, do you know what? At first, I thought it would be good to be beaten to death by my father like this, so that I wouldn’t have to keep enduring this disgusting family.”

Upon hearing Daryl's words, Moore was taken aback at first, but then his expression returned to its previous fierce look. He threw another punch, this time numbing Daryl's arm, and shouted angrily.

“Daryl, you selfish bastard, how could you say such a thing? You are my favorite brother. If you die, what am I supposed to do? Do you think you were the only one who thought like this? If it weren’t for you, I would have killed that alcoholic father and then died from inhaling laundry detergent.”

Upon hearing this, Daryl, ignoring the tingling sensation in his arm, grabbed Moore beside him and said...

"Hey, from now on, we brothers will live and die together. No matter what happened before, now I just want you to live. If you kick the bucket, I don't want to live either."

Hearing Daryl's touching words, Moore hugged his younger brother and said the same thing.

“With that man here, we brothers won’t die. He promised me he wouldn’t abandon you and me. I believe him.”

Daryl frowned slightly upon hearing this, shoved Moore aside, and said to Moore.

“Who? Rick? That bastard only cares about his 'girlfriends.' To him, we two brothers are nothing but tools. Last time, he mocked me in the car and even incited his wives to beat me up and knock me unconscious. You know about that.”

Moore shook his head and said.

"My stupid brother, if it weren't for that bastard you're talking about, your older brother would have died on the rooftop of the department store long ago. If it weren't for that bastard you're talking about, your older brother wouldn't be able to suppress the violent emotions inside me."

Having finished speaking

Moore pulled out his last blue coffee candy and showed it off.

"This stuff is amazing. Rick gave it to me. It makes me incredibly energetic, relieves fatigue and pain, and even gives me temporary clear vision at night. More importantly, whenever I feel irritable, sucking on one of these blue coffee candies gradually makes that urge to wash clothes disappear. So, I won't allow you to say anything bad about him anymore. Your brother's transformation is all thanks to him, Daryl. Don't be a gossip, or I'll let you experience the 'iron fist of love'."

Seeing Moore's state, Daryl patted himself down and then pulled out an unopened mini bottle from a hidden part of his body. In front of Moore, he personally unsealed the packaging and opened the bottle. A rich, invigorating coffee aroma wafted from the mini bottle.

Upon seeing the familiar bottle, Moore froze. He had no idea that Rick had given Daryl the blue coffee candy until his eyes widened and he stared intently at the miniature bottle in Daryl's hand. Greed gleamed in his eyes as he approached Daryl step by step, swallowing hard like a hungry beast ready to devour the lamb before him.

Seeing this, Daryl stopped teasing his crazy brother. He poured out a blue coffee candy and tossed it into the air. Moore, like a swift hunting dog, leaped up and caught the blue coffee candy in his mouth. The rich coffee flavor of the blue coffee candy filled Moore's mouth. At that moment, he felt the world become quiet. The irritable emotions within him disappeared under the effect of the blue coffee candy. Moore closed his eyes and sat on the ground like a satisfied dog, enjoying himself.

Seeing Moore's lifeless state, Daryl shook his head helplessly, poured out a blue coffee candy, put it in his mouth, and sat down next to Moore, just like Moore, to enjoy the comfort it brought to his body.

Rick and Brian, who were not far from the cell, overheard the entire exchange between the two. Without disturbing the Dixon brothers, they exchanged a glance and nodded to each other. Then, in perfect unison, they each lit a cigarette and stood a short distance away, puffing away.

Soon, the entire cell was filled with the smell of Hua Zi's cigarettes. Daryl, who was sitting on the ground enjoying the smoke, smelled the familiar scent in the air. He stood up on his own and walked to the edge of the cell. Through the crack, he saw something that made him furious.

Two men in SWAT uniforms were standing not far away, smoking cigarettes. The cigarettes smelled exactly like the ones Rick had given him earlier. This immediately reminded Daryl that Rick had also been captured. Only Rick had this unique cigarette; no one else could possibly get their hands on it.

Thinking of this, Daryl shouted at the two people in the distance.

"Hey! You two bastards, where did you get those cigarettes?"

Hearing Daryl's roar, Rick and Brian were startled, then walked towards Daryl.

When Daryl approached and saw that familiar, smug face, his anger intensified, and he yelled at Rick.

“Rick, you bastard, how could you collude with these people? Do you know how worried Moore and I were about you? Maggie and Beth were captured by these bastards.”

Rick said to Daryl with a blank expression.

"Oh yeah? Yes, yes, I know you're in a hurry right now, but don't rush, because you'll be even more anxious later."

Upon hearing Rick's words, Daryl recalled the terrifying moment when Rick's three wives each punched him in the head, and his body trembled uncontrollably.

Rick approached the cell fence with a wicked grin, while Daryl stared at Rick with fear, then yelled at him in terror.

"Don't come over here!"

The loud voice startled Moore, who was still under the influence of the blue coffee candy, from his reverie. He stood up, looked at Rick outside the cell, and a glimmer of hope appeared in his eyes. He quickly ran to the fence and said this.

"Boss, what brings you here? Are you here to rescue us?"

Seeing Mor's excited expression, Rick decided not to tease Daryl any further. He took out the cell key, opened the door, went inside, patted Mor on the shoulder, and said...

“That’s right, how could I abandon my two loyal subordinates? Brian and I heard everything you two said just now, and you two really give me a bromance.”

Upon hearing Rick's words, Moore's face turned as red as a monkey's bottom, and he scratched his head with a embarrassed smile.

"Boss, what time is it and you're still making fun of us?"

Meanwhile, Daryl spat at Mor and cursed under his breath.

"What a hypocritical bunch of bastards."

Rick ignored Daryl and spoke to the two of them.

“I have already rescued Maggie and Beth. This man next to me is Kobe Bryant, the captain of SWAT Alpha Team. You two can just call him Captain. We’re going to be on an operation to rescue Dr. Liz, who is trapped in an underground research facility. I’d like you two to pack your things and come with me.”

Upon hearing this, Moore nodded in agreement without hesitation. Daryl, on the other hand, looked indecisive and stood to the side, seemingly deep in thought. This made Moore, who was waiting nearby, anxious. He knew Rick's temperament, and such indecisiveness would make Rick unhappy with him.

Thinking of this, Moore nudged Daryl with his elbow, and Daryl, knowing his bastard brother's implication, sighed and said...

"I know, Lao Da, count me in. But the weapons and equipment you gave me last time have already been taken away by these people. We have nothing now."

Rick said to Brian after hearing this.

"Captain Brian, where did their gear go?"

Brian thought for a moment and then answered.

“It was taken by Ever and Cruise.”

Rick wanted to confront Brian, but then he realized he didn't know which was Iver and which was Cruise, so there was no need to be angry with Brian.

Thinking of this, Rick sighed and said to the three of them.

"In that case, we can deal with the weapons later. Now, Daryl, Moore, you two come with me to the tactical MTVR. Captain Black, are you okay with that?"

The Dixon brothers nodded to Rick, and Brian responded in kind.

"No problem, I can take the three of you there."

After Brian finished speaking, he walked out of the prison, while Rick and the three Dixon brothers followed Blake toward the tactical MTVR outside the police station parking lot.
