Harry Potter and the Virtue of Miss Potter

Chapter 36 Quidditch Training

The next morning, Harry and Ayman were told that Wood wanted to see them.

They had no choice but to abandon their fun and go to the open space to find Wood.

"Hi! Harry! Clever!" Wood greeted them.

"Good morning, Oliver!" Wu Mu jumped up and waved to Wood.

"Good morning, little smarty! Alright! Now listen to me. Quidditch rules are actually quite easy to understand: three Chasers, two Beaters, one Goalkeeper, and one Seeker."

"Seven players in total? By the way... is there a difference between a Seeker and a Chaser?"

"Yes, Little Smarty. You may not know about it. You can go to the library with Harry and borrow some Quidditch books to read."

After Wood finished speaking, he opened the wooden box at his feet. "There are three kinds of balls in total. This is a Quake." Wood picked the largest ball and threw it to Wu Mu.

"I think this is the ball I need to care about!"

"Very clever, little smarty. Have you ever heard of Quidditch before?"

“You threw it to me, so of course it’s the ball that’s most important to me! Brother Oliver.” Wu Mu twirled the ball between his fingertips.

Wu Mu: The Quaffle is much lighter than I imagined! Back in the day, I could throw and kick it with perfect accuracy. Maybe that's why Professor McGonagall made me the Chaser.

"Little Clever, are you listening?" Wood noticed that Wu Mu didn't seem to be paying attention to what he was saying.

"Huh? I... of course!"

"Then tell me, what's the name of this ball? Which player was the main one to catch it?" Wood thought Wu Mu seemed to be lying.

Wu Mu: "This is the Golden Snitch! Brother needs to catch it, right?" Is it really that simple? Anyone who's read Harry Potter should know this, right?

"Then tell me, what is your main task?" Wood asked in a manner very much like the persistent and unyielding Speaker.

Wu Mu: "I need to score by hitting the Quaffle into the opponent's hoop, and I also need to dodge the incoming stray balls." Very simple! Very good!

“Okay, listen carefully, Little Clever. I’m going to throw the Quake later. You can hit it in your most comfortable way and make it go into that hole.” Wood pointed to the stone golem that was made of stone, just like the stone golem that had caught Neville. The difference was that the two weapons in the stone golem’s hands formed a hole.

"Okay, I understand." Wu Mu squinted at the spot Wood was pointing to.

“You use this broom first, so let’s get started! Hey!” Wood handed Wu Mu a broom and then threw the ball away forcefully.

Wu Mu looked at the ball, then mounted his broom, leaned forward, and quickly caught up with the Quake. He then swatted the ball away with his broom, sending it flying right into the hole.

"It's flying fast! Now get the ball back, little smarty!" Wood shielded his eyes from the sunlight with one hand.

"Thank you for the compliment!" Wumu caught up with the ball again, but this time she didn't knock it away. Instead, she caught it in her arms and flew to Wood and Harry's side. She didn't jump off the broom, but put her legs to the side and faced them.

“I think you can also become an excellent Seeker. You fly really fast, almost as fast as me. Professor McGonagall has a good eye!” Wood took the Quaffle and put it into the wooden box.

“Harry, why don’t you two have a race and see who’s faster?” Wood handed Harry a broom just like the one Wood had.

"On my command! Three! Two! One! Take off!"

With a "whoosh!", the Potter siblings began their first round of competition. They flew to the designated location at the same time, but it was clear that Harry was more stable and faster on the way back. Woomu failed to control himself accurately and rolled over on the way back, falling a little behind Harry.

Harry Beam reached Wood first and jumped off the broom.

Wu Mu flew to Wood's side less than a second after Harry landed, without any haste or delay.

"Looks like I need to practice more. I almost fell just now! Brother! You're amazing!" Wu Mu patted Harry on the shoulder, looking just like a proud mother.

"I'm fine! You're amazing too!"

"You two are both great. Little Clever hits the ball with great power and reacts very quickly. Harry, you're incredibly fast. With more practice, you'll catch up to my speed in no time." Wood was very satisfied with the performance of the two little lions.
