Dotore from Genshin Impact is my teacher
Chapter 63 The Wise Doctor
(omega definition: n. the last letter of the Greek numeral system; the end. Those with some basic English should be able to understand this; I certainly did.)
(I should learn this in my senior year of high school, because I'm only a freshman now and my English teacher hasn't covered it; I found it on my browser.)
(This "omega" has a different meaning than the ABO in the text.)
(In the setting, the omega is the strongest of the fragments, possessing the strength of his/Dotore at his peak.)
------Dividing line------
The panelists discussed for half an hour and finally came up with a result that satisfied everyone.
Each slice has one hour to spend with Chen Xi, and the rest of the time he rests because he still has a task given to him by the Empress to complete.
……
“That’s a good idea.”
"can."
"I agree."
……
Spending 24 hours a day with you doing experiments? That'd be exhausting. Taking advantage of their inattention, Chen Xi switched to the grass element and activated invisibility to try and escape, but unfortunately, she was captured by the "scholars".
"Don't be afraid, they won't hurt you."
Do you think I believe you? Don't you know how many people have died at their hands? Your actions are tantamount to selling me out.
Chen Xi tried to break free, but the "scholar" was too strong, and she couldn't break free at all.
The demon embraced the boy and whispered in his ear, "Good boy, it will be over soon."
A thin needle pierced a blood vessel in her arm, pushing the piston to release the drug, and Chen Xi fell into a deep sleep.
(When pushing the plunger of a syringe, the principle that solids can transmit pressure is utilized; when the plunger pushes a liquid, the principle that liquids can transmit pressure is utilized. Therefore, the act of "a doctor pushing a plunger to inject medicine into a patient" mainly utilizes the principle of liquid pressure transmission, namely Pascal's principle.)
Omega: "We'll draw lots to decide who goes first and who goes last. Let the original body draw the lots."
"Scholar": "I have no objection."
Dottore (the main body) took a blank sheet of paper from the table, tore it into twenty-four strips, wrote a code on each strip, crumpled them into small balls, and placed them all in an unused beaker. He then placed a notebook on top of the beaker, shook it up and down and side to side ten times, and randomly grabbed a paper ball from the beaker. He unfolded the paper ball, checked the code, and wrote its ranking on it. He did not put the same paper ball back into the beaker repeatedly. He repeated this process twenty-four times, ensuring complete fairness. (It feels like I'm writing an instruction manual; I've never been this meticulous when writing experimental results.)
Dotore (the main body) displays the written rankings on the desktop.
The rankings are as follows
First: "Scholars"
Second: "Wise Doctor"
Third: "Zandik"
Fourth: "omega"
……
Chapter Twenty-Four: "The Old Man"
The first person is quite controversial; he is the main body's confidant, which inevitably makes the other slices dissatisfied.
"You're being unfair to me!"
Why was he the first?
"Did you do something to it?"
……
Dotore (the real body) slammed his fist on the table: "Quiet! Everyone witnessed the drawing process. It was fair. Everyone had a chance to be drawn. I didn't tamper with anything."
The hot-blooded young man was not convinced by his argument: "I don't believe it! I want to check it!"
Dotore (the real body): "Sure, do as you please."
The impetuous young man examined the paper strip and beaker thoroughly but found nothing amiss, so he had to give up.
Dotore (the real body): "Since there are no objections, proceed according to the ranking. Scholar, take your little friend."
Scholar: "Hmm."
……
It was a familiar place again. Chen Xi was led back to the office bed by the "scholar." The drug injected into Chen Xi would only take effect after an hour; he would not wake up until then.
The "scholar's" hand stroked his face, and perhaps sensing the touch, Chen Xi's body resisted strongly.
“It’s me, the scholar.” He spoke gently.
"Scholar..." Chen Xi seemed to hear the "scholar's" words, and her body no longer resisted contact with him, and she took the initiative to press herself against him.
The "scholar" held him tightly, gently patting his back: "Don't be afraid, I'm here."
...And so an hour passed. (Nothing really happened during that hour, don't overthink it, writing too much might get you banned.)
A voice came from outside the door: "Are you done yet?"
She placed a kiss on his forehead: "Come in, he'll wake up soon."
The surgeon came in carrying a first-aid kit and joked, "Your little friend?"
Scholar: "Yes."
Slice: "It's obvious he depends on you a lot."
"Scholar": "I raised him."
Slice: "Okay, I won't fight you for it. I'm just here to collect samples and study the source of his power."
"Scholar": "I warn you not to touch him."
Slice: "Okay, okay, I understand. You can go now."
“Scholar…” Chen Xi opened his eyes, trying to grab the hem of his clothes, but he had no strength and dangled weakly by the bedside. “Scholar” glanced back at him, then closed the door and left.
Slice came to the bedside, helped Chen Xi to a chair, and set out the tools needed: "He's gone."
Chen Xi: "Who are you?"
Slice: "They call me the wise doctor."
Chen Xi: "Sounds like a good person." The Wise Doctor's Feather? A slice of him from when he first joined the Fools?
The wise doctor: "Hmm, are you ready to begin?"
Chen Xi, not playing by the rules, replied, "No."
The wise doctor said, "We don't have much time. Don't worry, I won't hurt you."
Chen Xi: "It would have been better if you had put the knife down before you said that."
The doctor placed the scalpel on the table: "Sorry, I just habitually hold this."
Chen Xi leaned back lazily in her chair, not wanting to move at all: "Are you going to dissect me with that knife?"
The wise doctor said, "It's just a small piece of meat. I'll give you anesthesia."
Chen Xi extended her right arm: "Whatever."
Just as the needle was about to touch the skin, he suddenly stopped: "Wait, is it general anesthesia or partial anesthesia?"
The doctor glanced at him, then hesitated, "Partial anesthesia."
Chen Xi: "That's good, at least he's conscious, so the incision can be shallower."
The wise doctor said, "Okay."
A thin needle pierces the skin and enters a blood vessel to administer medication; the entire process is almost painless.
Chen Xi: "Doesn't it hurt?"
The skilled doctor pressed his arm onto the table: "Don't move, I'm about to make the incision."
Chen Xi: "Don't let your hands shake."
The wise doctor said, "...It's very stable, don't worry."
Chen Xi turned her head away, trying not to look. She was genuinely afraid that if his hand trembled, she would bleed uncontrollably.
The sharp scalpel easily cut through the skin's surface, pierced into the muscle, and dug out a piece of flesh no bigger than a fingernail, placing it into a sample container, from which fresh blood gushed out.
"Stop the bleeding quickly!" Chen Xi reminded him, feeling a sticky liquid on his arm.
The wise doctor said, "Okay."
After a full minute of work, Dr. Hyun cleaned the wound and bandaged it.
“You seem different from them.”
"What's the difference? Aren't they all trying to win you over?"
"What period of his life were you in?"
"This doesn't seem like a question you, as the test subject, should be asking."
……
After a friendly exchange with him, Chen Xi concluded that this interview was too rigid and he was not good at getting information out of him.
Chen Xi: "Don't you need blood?"
The doctor picked up a cotton swab, dipped it in iodine, and said, "...Yes, extend your arm."
Chen Xi immediately backed down: "Can you use a smaller needle? I'm afraid of the pain."
The wise doctor said, "...Okay."
Chen Xi then rolled up his sleeves and stretched out his right arm, wiping the skin with a cotton swab soaked in iodine.
Then, the doctor changed the needle to a smaller one, attached it to the syringe, tied a tourniquet around the upper part of the blood collection area, and instructed Chen Xi to clench his fist several times and then tighten it to expose the vein and make it easier to puncture.
The doctor removed the sterile cap from the needle, used his left thumb to stabilize the lower end of the venipuncture site, held the syringe barrel with his right thumb and middle finger, and stabilized the needle seat with his index finger. With the bevel of the needle and the syringe markings facing upwards, the doctor quickly inserted the needle into the skin at a 30° angle, following the vein's course. Then, at a 5° angle, the needle pierced the vein wall and entered the vein lumen. After observing blood return, the needle was advanced slightly further to prevent slippage during blood collection (but not too deeply, as this could cause a hematoma). The tourniquet was immediately removed.
Hold the syringe in place with your left hand, slowly withdraw the syringe core to the required amount of blood, then press the needle hole with a sterile dry cotton ball, have Chen Xi loosen his fist, and quickly pull out the syringe.
Remove the syringe needle and slowly inject the blood along the wall of the test tube into the anticoagulant tube to prevent hemolysis and foaming. Gently mix the anticoagulant (do not shake the test tube) and tightly stopper the test tube for later use.
(I've written down the steps for venipuncture directly; it took me a long time to figure out how to do this.)
