Chapter 116 The God of Righteousness

(I'm a relatively normal fan of the Skirmisher, but I'm also a little bit perverted. I both hate and love [The Doctor]. I hate him because of what he did to the Skirmisher, but I love him because his birth really appeals to me, and he's so amazing.)

(This chapter mainly describes the God of Righteousness.)

(Inazuma is based on Japan, and [Sanbing] is an Inazuma person, so there will be some elements related to Japan and Buddhism. Also, I am a materialist and do not believe in any religion.)

----text----

"Jingli Glass Workshop" is the name of Zhou Ben, the God of the Righteous Machine. As the name suggests, this is the place where the body of the God of the Righteous Machine is made.

"Pure Lapis Lazuli" is a Buddhist term. The Pure Land of Bhaisajyaguru Buddha is called the "Pure Lapis Lazuli World," which means "May I attain Bodhi in my next life, with a body like lapis lazuli, clear inside and out, pure and without blemish, with vast light and towering merit."

At the same time, "Joruri" also refers to Joruri (puppet theater) in Japan, which is a form of classical Japanese stage art.

Joruri puppetry once competed with Kabuki, but Kabuki later absorbed the strengths of Joruri puppetry in terms of performance, music, and scripts, constantly enriching itself and thus further promoting the maturity of Kabuki, while Joruri puppetry itself gradually declined.

Besides telling us about the Buddha-nature of the main character, "Jingli Glass Workshop" also hints that a grand drama is about to unfold, and the main character is already waiting in the center of the stage for the unplaced characters. The tubes on the [soldier]'s body symbolize the threads that control the puppets. Therefore, if the tubes break, the [soldier] will fall powerlessly, and the puppet with the torn threads will naturally be unable to move anymore.

"Seven Leaves" refers to the Seven Leaves Cave, the place where the Buddha preached. Seven-leaf trees were planted around it, and the seven leaves can be seen as a symbol of Buddhahood.

"Zhongzun" refers to the Buddha statue located in the center, which here refers to the body of the God of the Right Mind.

"Lapis Lazuli Altar" refers to: 1. an ordination platform cast from lapis lazuli. 2. Buddhist altars and community altars that are lapis lazuli-colored are also called lapis lazuli altars. The emphasis here remains on the Buddha-nature of the deity of the true purpose.

"Silent Illumination" – "Silent" means stillness; "Illumination" means reflection. The essence of wisdom is emptiness and stillness, yet it possesses the function of observation and reflection. That is, it can perceive the true nature of things.

"The Lord of Secrets," also known as "Vajrapani" or "Vajrapani," is one of the "Three Venerable Ones of the Three Families," along with Avalokiteshvara and Manjushri, representing the three qualities of "the power, compassion, and wisdom of all Buddhas." He is also one of the "Eight Great Bodhisattvas." Vajrapani is the wrathful form of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, representing the great power and supernatural abilities of all Buddhas. He is also an incarnation of Amitabha Buddha, assisting Amitabha Buddha in universally saving sentient beings and guiding them to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. "The Lord of Secrets is the King of Yakshas." "The term 'Yaksha' refers to the secret body, speech, and mind of the Tathagata, known only to Buddhas themselves. Even those like Leslie Chess cannot attain such secret supernatural power; it is the most secret of secrets, the so-called lord of the secrets of the mind, hence the name 'Lord of Secrets.'" "This Bodhisattva upholds the secret body, speech, and mind of Vairocana Buddha, hence the name 'Lord of Secrets.'"

Simplified version: The King of Yakshas, an indestructible Vajra, the representative of the power of all Buddhas, the gatherer of esoteric teachings, and the incarnation of Amitabha Buddha, meaning the god of righteousness, possessing great power and wisdom, and having Buddha-nature.

The face of the god of prophecy is a white mask with red patterns, which is clearly Kabuki makeup, or perhaps Kabuki elements of the Sanbing. Although the face has no eyes, the god of prophecy does have eyes.

The eyes are on the hands; each of the hands of the deity Zhengji has an eye. This can be seen in the design of the Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin. This design of the Buddha statue is symbolic. The eyes represent wisdom, indicating that the deity can see and help all suffering beings.

This is also reflected in the original storyline. Although the true form of the God of the Righteous Machines resides in the workshop, the [Skirmisher]'s consciousness can still roam freely. He doesn't need to "see" with his own eyes; even while still in the workshop, his consciousness can still alter the weather and repel the Fools' soldiers battling against Tinari and his companion. The meaning of "Central Venerable" has already been explained earlier; the true form of the God of the Righteous Machines is that Buddha statue. This is probably also the [Skirmisher]'s dissatisfaction with Thor, because Thor couldn't see him and didn't help him back then, but now, upon becoming a god, he wants to be a god who can see and do.

Long ears are seen as a symbol of Buddhahood. Among the thirty-two marks of Buddha, long ears that reach the shoulders and the two special tubes around the face of the Buddha symbolize ears.

The God of the Mechanism has four arms, and its body is not directly connected; it consists of an upper body and a lower body.

Behind the God of Righteousness is a thunder drum.

The True Machine God possesses elements of the starry sky. The connection between its hands and wrists isn't hollow but rather a deep purple starry sky. Its chest isn't pure purple either, but rather displays shimmering stars. When the True Machine God releases "Momentary Creation and Annihilation," a shimmering deep purple starry sky appears above the room. Although the background inside the True Machine God's head is red, it still twinkles with stars. This may correspond to the Scatter Soldiers' connection to the False Heaven.

--------

[Scattered Soldiers] are called "God of Righteousness" in Zhou Ben. "Righteousness" is a Buddhist term. The derived "Theory of Righteousness of Evil People" means that it is forgivable to do evil when forced to. The original intention is to persuade people to do good and correct their evil ways, rather than to find an excuse for doing evil at will.

[Skirmisher] was deceived by [The Doctor] and lured into the Fools' Clan. Under [The Doctor's] influence, he committed many evil deeds, such as killing the "Thunder Five Transmissions." He was a victim of induced crime. It can be said that half of [Skirmisher's] misfortune was caused by [The Doctor].

Why so much suspicion about opening a box?

"After all, the box we opened before contained Dan Yu's heart."

--------

Why is the [Scatter Soldier] called the God of Righteousness?

The theory of "the righteous path for the wicked" originated from the teachings of Shinran, the first patriarch of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Japanese Buddhism. It posits that humans are inherently sinful mortals, and that Amitabha Buddha's vow is to save the wicked and guide them to Buddhahood. The wicked can be reborn in the Pure Land simply by reciting Amitabha's name. A related story is that when Shakyamuni Buddha was a Bodhisattva, he was in one incarnation as the Ascetic of Patience. When King Kali cut off his body, the Ascetic of Patience vowed that when he attained enlightenment, he would first liberate King Kali. Indeed, the first person the Buddha liberated after his enlightenment was King Kali. This can be seen as the "righteous path for the wicked"—that is, liberating the most wicked person first. [The "scattered soldier"] is also a villainous character.

The term "properly qualified" refers to those with the capacity to receive beneficial teachings. The *Lotus Sutra*, Volume 6, Part 1 (Taisho Tripitaka Vol. 33, 748a), states: "The future good and evil are the proper qualified." The Japanese Jodo Shinshu school considers ordinary, evil people as the proper qualified for the power of the vow and other-power, thus having sayings such as "evil people are the proper qualified," and "women are the proper qualified." Furthermore, those who attain enlightenment immediately upon generating the aspiration are the proper qualified among all qualified. [*Anleji*, Volume 1]
