After walking for several days, Chen Xi, who usually slept on her desk as soon as get out of class ended and never exercised, was exhausted. She fell asleep in the arms of the "scholar" and was carried back to the camp.

As for the traveler, they'll continue following the plot as usual. We'll talk about where the plot is next time.

"The Doctor is back!"

The news spread quickly. Feng Quan, who was on patrol, led his squad to salute the "scholar" while glancing at Chen Xi in his arms. Sensing the "scholar's" gaze, Feng Quan subconsciously lowered his head and only dared to look up after the "scholar" left.

Within the Fatui soldiers, there is a list of the most difficult executives to work with, which we can call the "Black List," and [The Doctor] is on it. Of course, there is also a "Red List."

"Blacklist": First place is [Doctor], second is [Skimmer], and last is [Lady].

[Doctor] Dottore, who was known as Zandik during his time at the Faculty of Arts. (We don't know if this is true or not; we'll know once his information is complete.)

The soldiers described him as unpredictable and volatile. Perhaps because he had so many slides, some soldiers often delivered materials to the wrong people, wasting time and ending up on the lab table for dissection, or as guinea pigs to test drug efficacy. Whether they would survive was unknown. Soldiers who made mistakes under his care were tortured terribly.

The soldiers said they didn't want to die yet, but some admired and idolized him and wanted to serve under him. That's understandable, but please be rational, brothers and sisters, it could cost you your life!

[Skirmisher] Scaramchi, also known as the Collapsed Kingdom. He has a sharp tongue, an extremely bad temper, is capricious, indiscriminately despises everyone, and disdains gods. He even tried to kill "Master" upon seeing him. (In this text, "Master" refers to the traveler.)

Because of his height, his subordinates would kneel on one knee when they saw him. He even spoke ill of the Empress. Sometimes when he was in a bad mood, he would curse or beat people, or even kill them.

In his eyes, human life was worthless; he could kill at will, since the captain would train new recruits to replace them. Therefore, soldiers usually didn't want to be assigned to his command and suffer torture.

[Lady] Rosalyn, full name Rosalyn Cruzshika Loefert. She's simple-minded, sharp-tongued, and loves to cause trouble. If she doesn't like you, she'll assign you all sorts of tasks you don't want to do, and if you refuse, she'll give you a sarcastic and insulting scolding. She generally won't physically hit you, but she'll stomp on you; she thinks hitting people would dirty her hands, so she uses stomping instead. The soldiers say they don't want to be scolded, and being stomped on by her high heels hurts a lot.

"Red List": First place is [Captain], second place is [Girl], third place is [Wanderer], fourth place is [Puppet], fifth place is [Rich Man], sixth place is [Rooster], seventh place is [Young Master], eighth place is [Servant], and ninth place is [Clown].

[Captain] Capitano, original name unknown.

He possesses a strong sense of justice and is upright and incorruptible.

The soldiers of the Fools were very willing to work under the [captain] because he was genuinely good to his subordinates, highly capable, and an [honest] person.

[Girl] Columbia, original name unknown.

"She usually sings; her voice is ethereal and beautiful. All I need to do is hand her a glass of water when she gets tired of singing. It's a very easy job." — Description from a soldier under [the girl's] command.

[Traveler] Plessid, whose real name is Chen Xi.

"He was very kind to us. The older recruits told me he almost got into a fight with another officer over our pay, but luckily the adjutant stopped him." —New Recruit

"His face under the mask was very handsome. I'd seen him a few times before. He said he was an office worker, but we didn't believe him. What office worker could wipe out an entire monster tribe by himself?" — Memories of the Fire Debtor

"If it weren't for the murderous look in [Doctor's] eyes, I would have helped him up. I don't know what happened, but his legs were too weak to stand, yet [Doctor's] seemed quite happy." —A newly arrived soldier in the Central Guard

————Not part of the main text————

"Wear and tear" is a terrible thing; it is imposed upon us by "natural law".

In Genshin Impact, "wear and tear" is not a physical phenomenon, but rather refers to a mental one. In other words, as things or people change over time or through various experiences, their mindset, cognition, and so on, and these changes are generally negative.

Wear and tear is also one of the ways that nature deals with collapse. Wearing and tearing away memories and reason can limit powerful individuals while also limiting the rapid progress of civilization.

The Demon Gods might also be creations of Teyvat, belonging to the Teyvat family, but stronger than the original creatures. The original Seven Dragon Kings, like Fat Tuo, couldn't defeat Morax. The ferocity of the Demon God War wasn't just due to the struggle for the Heart of God, but also the purge of Demon Gods who had been worn down and lost their minds. After all, those with any sense, like the Salt Demon God, hid, or like the Great Serpent, fled. There was also a wave of fleeing Demon Gods in the outer sea. Plus, the Demon Gods themselves have extremely long lifespans. The resentment on Gui Li and the Yaksha clan is likely a manifestation of the Demon Gods' excessive wear and tear, directly accelerating the decay. Of the Yaksha clan, only Xiao remained insane. (Thankfully, the Emperor saved the day in the Abyss of the Lava, otherwise, the developers' parents wouldn't have survived.)

The rewards of the Demon God War were not only the Heart of God, but should also include the reduction of wear and tear. However, after thousands of years, it was discovered that they had been deceived by the laws of nature. The laws of nature do not stop the wear and tear. During the war that destroyed the kingdom of Kanria, the remaining six gods conspired to try to destroy the laws of nature to see if they could stop the wear and tear. In the end, they just fell into a deep sleep. The Thunder God is confirmed to be dead, and it is estimated that the Fire God also died at this time. Now, in the process of Nirvana, the Water God violated his own justice, judged himself, and shattered himself. The large fragments are the new Water God, the small fragments are in the Pure Water Spirits, and the rest are probably in the waters of Teyvat.

The Ice God sealed himself away, awaiting a wave of technological advancement. Barbatos slept soundly, Morax endured the wear and tear, Balzeb abandoned his physical body, and Buyer regenerated from a broken branch. Of the seven gods over the past 500 years, only the Water God, who refreshed himself with a unique form of wear and tear, Morax, who endured the wear and tear, and Balzeb, who abandoned his physical body, remained active in the open. The others were all trying to avoid the wear and tear.

I don't quite agree that altering the World Tree would cause wear and tear. Only the historical process is changed; the outcome remains the same, and corresponding memories are added. Furthermore, altering the World Tree requires at least a divine heart and entry into the World Tree itself. Only Buyer meets these conditions. There's no reason to alter the World Tree. As the World Tree's original entity, how could Buyer experience wear and tear? The World Tree is Teyvat's highest-level hard drive; wear and tear are impossible for it. So how does Buyer complete the wear and tear KPI? By allowing the Abyss to corrupt the World Tree, and then causing the World Tree to regenerate broken branches, thus erasing Buyer's original memories and completing the wear and tear.

However, wear and tear can only delay the arrival of Honkai, not prevent it, or rather, ensure survival after its arrival. The Heavenly Principle introduced the Abyss, which may be the source of Honkai in the Heavenly Principle world. However, like a vaccine, it allows Teyvat to adapt to Honkai in advance within a controllable range. Once there are signs of an impending Honkai outbreak, it's swiftly eliminated. Kanria and the Red King are examples of this. This is also why the Grass God didn't join the other six gods to destroy Kanria 500 years ago; the Red King and Kanria were on the same level.
