I thrived in the primitive tribe
Chapter 84 Finding the Tribe
Led by Loya, the group ran along a side road in the opposite direction from the Dragon Alliance tribe.
After running all morning, Loya looked around and felt that they were nearby, so he gestured to his people to stop by the big tree in front of them.
Noticing that Loya had slowed down, Lu Yao straightened up, looked around, and asked, "Loya, have we arrived?"
"It should be nearby. Let's stop here and tidy up. You guys wait here while Jiuli and I search the area. We'll come back and meet you when we find it."
"Okay, okay." After Luo Ya stopped, Lu Yao climbed down from his back.
After explaining things to his people, Luo Ya and Jiu Li discussed when they would return to meet up, and then the two ran off in different directions.
Lu Yao and the others sat down by the tree, looking at the lush green trees nearby, and suddenly wondered if there might be wild edible plants around here.
Thinking about the meeting time that Luo Ya and Jiu Li had discussed, he spoke to the tribespeople beside him.
"This area looks pretty safe. I want to walk around and see if there are any edible plants."
The others observed the surroundings and decided that one person would stay behind to keep watch, while the others would go with Lu Yao to ensure her safety.
"Lu Yao, please keep track of the time."
"Yes, I know. I'll be back before Loya and the others return."
And so, Lu Yao led the group to search the surrounding area. Every time they found a plant that looked like an edible vegetable in real life, they would ask the tribespeople next to them. But they would often get the opposite conclusion: either it was inedible or it was poisonous. The only one that was edible tasted bitter and spicy.
As it grew increasingly late, the group had no choice but to hurry back to avoid delaying their important business.
When Lu Yao and the others returned to the big tree, Luo Ya and the others also returned.
"Where did you all go?" Jiu Li asked, puzzled, as Lu Yao and the others came from another direction.
"I figured I'd just be sitting here doing nothing, so I wandered around the area to see if I could find anything to eat."
"So what delicious food did you find?" Jiuli asked with great interest.
"Do we look like we've found something? We've looked around and haven't found anything." Lu Yao said, somewhat dejected.
“It’s alright. We’ll find something when we have the chance to go out and explore together. If there are any edible plants around here, they’ve probably already been picked by the people from the nearby tribes,” Loya comforted her.
"That's true." Seeing them carrying the wicker baskets on their backs, "Have you already found the tribe that tames the feathered dragons?"
“Yes, so let’s set off now. The sooner we go, the sooner we can return to the tribe,” Loya said.
"Why do you seem to be in such a hurry?" Lu Yao asked curiously.
"The rainy season is coming soon," said the tribesman standing next to Lu Yao.
"Huh? Didn't you say it was coming soon? What impact will this have?"
Seeing Lu Yao's dazed eyes, Luo Ya said, "Let's talk as we walk."
Jiuli led the way, with Luo Yalu and the others following behind. "You still haven't said why you've become so anxious."
“It rains heavily at the beginning of the rainy season. If we haven’t returned to the tribe by then, we can only find a cave outside and wait for a few days.”
"Why? We can brave the rain to go back to the tribe."
"Heavy rain can obstruct our vision, and the rustling of raindrops on the leaves can impair our hearing, making it very dangerous to be in the forest."
"Oh, I see. Can we wait until the rain subsides a bit before we leave?"
"The heavy rain will last for 3-5 days. Be careful when it gradually subsides," Luo Ya said, seeing Lu Yao step on something and wobble. He reached out and grabbed her arm to prevent her from falling.
"Thank you, that scared me to death. Please continue," Lu Yao patted her chest, still shaken.
"After the rain subsides, the wild animals that were trapped in their burrows will come out to hunt for food, making it even more dangerous than it is now."
The roads will become very muddy, and with the leaves covering them, they will be difficult to walk on.
Therefore, we must try our best to return to the tribe before the rainy season.
"Oh, so the rainy season is this dangerous? Let's hurry then." After hearing this, Lu Yao quickened her pace.
Lu Yao was exhausted from walking. Looking at the endless trees ahead, she thought, "I must have been walking for two hours already. I'm so tired. When will we get there?"
She walked over to Loya and asked, "How much longer until we get there?"
Seeing Lu Yao panting, he said, "Are you tired? We'll probably have to walk a little longer."
He handed the wicker basket on his back to Lu Yao so she could carry it. Lu Yao took the basket with a puzzled look and put it on her back.
Luo Ya squatted down in front of Lu Yao, "Get on, I'll carry you."
“No need, I can still manage,” Lu Yao took two steps back and pulled Luo Ya up.
"It's alright, hurry up and get on. Your weight is nothing to me. I could carry several of you. Besides, we might be faster if I carry you."
Looking at the determined Loya in front of him, Lu Yao thought about it and realized that his own progress was indeed not fast. So he climbed onto Loya's back and said something.
"If you get tired, be sure to tell me."
“Okay,” Luo Ya bounced Lu Yao up and adjusted her position before speeding up to catch up with the clansmen who had just left.
Without Lu Yao holding them back, their speed increased significantly.
[It seems they were accommodating me before, afraid of hurting my pride, which is why they didn't say anything. Their speed now is on a completely different level.]
Lu Yao sighed inwardly.
[But that won't happen again, as long as we can successfully trade for the Feathered Dragon, then I'll have a mount.]
After a short while, Lu Yao saw what appeared to be a tribe ahead.
"Loya, look over there, isn't that the tribe we're looking for?" Loya looked in the direction Lu Yao was pointing.
"Yes, your Yan Li is really good."
“That’s right,” Lu Yao said proudly.
After seeing the tribe, the group went to visit them, following their previous agreement.
Instead of barging into their tribe's territory, Lu Yao and her companions stood in a conspicuous position, waiting for the other tribe to come out and negotiate.
"Will anyone come? What if they abandon us because we didn't enter their territory?" Lu Yao asked Jiu Li, tilting her head beside her.
“No, that won’t happen,” Loya responded from the other end.
"If there are unfamiliar people outside the tribe, the tribe members will report them to the tribe chief as soon as they see them."
Or someone with authority in the tribe; they will definitely come forward and ask.
Seeing how certain Luo Ya was, Lu Yao temporarily put aside her doubts and decided to wait a little longer.
After a while, just as Loya had said, a group of people came out, led by a neatly dressed middle-aged woman.
[Could this be the leader's wife?] Lu Yao wondered to herself.
Then they saw the man leading several strong young men quickly walk up to them.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" the woman standing in the middle asked sternly.
"Hello, I'm very sorry. We came to visit without prior notice, which is quite abrupt. I hope it hasn't caused you any inconvenience or disturbed your daily life," Lu Yao said apologetically.
Although she didn't understand what Lu Yao meant, the middle-aged woman sensed friendliness from Lu Yao's tone and knew that the group wasn't there to cause trouble, which relieved her.
