I thrived in the primitive tribe
Chapter 59 Searching for the Tribe (1)
After setting off, the group suddenly remembered the injured orc that Loya had taken in back to the tribe. They wondered if he had woken up yet, and discussed whether they should go to his tribe to check on him.
"Do you know where his tribe is located now?" Lu Yao asked, voicing her doubts.
"I really don't know," one of the tribesmen said quickly.
"The migration of the entire tribe must not have been an easy task, and they probably won't have gone too far."
"I think so too. It should still be around here. If we look carefully, we should be able to find it."
As they walked and discussed, Lu Yao suddenly stopped and began to think. The others also stopped and looked at her, wondering what she was going to do.
"How about we split into two groups? One group can send the salt back to the tribe first, so that the chiefs know that salt can be made from the salt lake. After the salt is sent back, the tribespeople can use it to preserve meat, and we can store more food."
The remaining group doesn't need to rush back; they can wander around the area and look for the tribe they encountered earlier.
After considering it for a while, the group decided that it was feasible, so two of them would send the salt they had already made back to the tribe, while the rest of them would continue to explore the area.
Watching her clansmen disappear into the distance, Lu Yao noticed that their speed seemed to have increased significantly, and murmured to herself, "Was their previous speed to accommodate me?"
The remaining group packed their belongings and embarked on an unknown journey of exploration.
"Where are we going next?" one of them asked.
Lu Yao turned to look at Luo Ya, who was trying to determine the direction. Luo Ya felt everyone's gaze and turned around, their eyes meeting. Understanding the question in Lu Yao's eyes, Luo Ya thought for a moment and said, "I just observed that we should be close to that tribe. Why don't we head over there and take a look?"
Lu Yao looked around and said, "Okay."
Because the dense trees blocked their view, they could not see the distant scenery and could only follow Loya's footsteps through the forest.
"How much longer?" Lu Yao asked breathlessly.
“We’re almost there,” Loya said, looking around at the surroundings.
"Why don't we take a break first?"
Hearing Lu Yao's weak and listless words, Luo Ya looked at the sky and realized that they had been walking for a long time. Looking back at the others, and seeing Lu Yao covered in sweat, a trace of heartache flashed in Luo Ya's eyes.
"I see an open space ahead, let's go over there and rest,"
As soon as Luo Ya finished speaking, Lu Yao, who had been half-dead, suddenly stood up and looked ahead. Seeing an open space in the distance, she said, "Hurry up, let's go! I need to sit down and rest!"
The group stared wide-eyed at Lu Yao's sudden burst of energy, then quickened their pace toward the open space.
"I'm so tired, I can finally rest. Hurry up and get me some water and food, I'm so hungry and thirsty!" Lu Yao said as she reached into the wicker basket that Luo Ya was carrying to look for food and water.
"Hey, hey, don't pull it. I'll put it down so you can look for it again." Luo Ya carefully unloaded the wicker basket from his back while keeping an eye on Lu Yao to avoid hurting her.
Seeing this, the other villagers gathered around, wanting to lend a hand. After putting down the wicker basket, Lu Yao almost couldn't wait to plunge inside and frantically searched through it with both hands.
The people next to Lu Yao looked at her so focused that she was practically leaning her whole body into the wicker basket, and they were utterly helpless. The corners of their mouths involuntarily turned up, and a hint of amusement flashed in their eyes.
"The way you look, you really resemble..." one of the tribesmen couldn't help but chuckle, hesitating to finish his sentence. Lu Yao finally found what she was looking for, opened the bamboo tube, and took a sip of cool water. She felt instantly revived and looked up at the speaker, asking in confusion, "Really resemble what?"
"It's just like when the cubs are young, searching for treasure everywhere."
“Yes, yes,” another person chimed in. “I remember the cubs in the cave next door were just like that when they were little. They would crawl around the cave, rummaging here and there. Every time they found something new, they would squeak excitedly. Their earnestness was so funny that it made you want to laugh.”
……
Listening to the group discuss the children in the tribe, how mischievous one was as a child, and how adorable another was as a baby...
"Are you hungry? Would you like some?" Lu Yao asked, holding up the dry rations in her hand.
They looked down at the person sitting on the ground, chewing and talking. "We're not hungry yet, you eat. Didn't you eat enough this morning?"
"No, I ate a big meal this morning, but after walking for so long, I'm hungry again~"
“Lu Yao, next time if you feel tired, hungry, or thirsty, please tell us so we can find a place to rest. Don’t let it be like this time,” Luo Ya said to Lu Yao with a serious face.
"I didn't expect it to be this far. I thought we should be there soon, so I just had to bear with it and rest when we arrived at our destination," Lu Yao said, sounding a little aggrieved.
“I know you’re holding back because you’re afraid of slowing us down, but we’re not in a rush right now. It’s also my fault for not paying enough attention to you and your group,” Loya said with a hint of guilt.
"It's not your fault, it's just that I'm too bad~" Lu Yao was a little disappointed. Although her body had become healthier in the beastman world, she still seemed to be much worse than the beastmen.
Seeing Lu Yao's disappointed expression, Luo Ya realized that he had unintentionally hurt her. Just as he was wondering what to do, the Earth Tribe member sitting next to him said nonchalantly, "Oh dear, it's alright. We'll just slow down later. Luo Ya, I have to criticize you for this. Why are you walking so fast when you have such a good opportunity to enjoy the scenery? Is there someone ahead that's attracting you?"
"Yes, yes,"
Lu Yao looked at Luo Ya with equal surprise.
"I—" Loya saw his tribesmen winking at him and swallowed the explanation he was about to give. "It's my fault—how could anyone in front of me be distracting? Maybe I was too impatient."
The group's gazes turned questioning.
"According to normal calculations, we should be able to see that tribe by now, but there's not even a trace of it. I wonder if there's something wrong with the direction."
Upon hearing this, the expressions of the group became serious.
"You guys rest here for a bit. Wait for me, I'll go scout ahead and be right back."
Lu Yao grabbed Luo Ya, who was turning to leave, and said, "Why don't we go together?" She prepared to stand up and continue on our way. Luo Ya looked at the hand that was holding hers and suppressed her excitement.
"It's alright, you guys sit here for a while, I'll be back soon."
Lu Yao, considering her own pace of progress, lowered her hand and pointed to the tribesmen sitting and watching the show beside her, saying, "Then be careful, or you could let him come with you."
Seeing Lu Yao lower her hand, Luo Ya felt a strange sense of loss. "No need, it'll be over in a little while. You guys wait here for a bit." With that, Luo Ya turned and entered the forest, disappearing from sight in the blink of an eye.
"Will he be alright if he goes out to investigate on his own?" Lu Yao asked, looking in the direction where Luo Ya had disappeared.
"How could he be in trouble? He was..." The person speaking was nudged by another bystander, who gestured for him to shut up.
"What happened to him before?" Lu Yao turned around and looked at the clansman who was halfway through his sentence.
"Nothing, nothing, don't worry, he'll be back in a bit."
After hearing this, Lu Yao faced the direction where Luo Ya had disappeared, munching on her dry rations and silently watching.
