Chapter 105 Finding Herbs

After everyone snapped out of their reverie and observations, they glanced at each other, said nothing more, and lingered there without pausing, for they knew that everything was understood without words.

As they continued to explore this unknown area, the surrounding environment gradually became dark and mysterious. Just then, the group suddenly noticed a faint light shining through the darkness ahead.

A surge of excitement welled up within them, and they quickened their pace, hurrying towards the light. As they drew closer, the light became increasingly clear, and their heartbeats quickened as they eagerly awaited the unveiling of the mystery.

Finally, when they got closer, they discovered that the light seemed to be coming from a narrow crack.

At this moment, Loya reacted quickly. He gently patted Lu Yao beside him, signaling her to step back a little to ensure her safety.

He then handed the torch to Lu Yao, and pressed himself against the damp mountain wall, inching his way outwards step by step. His movements were light and cautious, as if afraid of disturbing the unknown creatures inside.

Lu Yao and the other two clansmen stood on one side of the exit, their eyes filled with anxiety and anticipation.

They stared intently at Loya's figure, silently praying that he would pass through the unknown rift safely.

Their heartbeats rose and fell with Loya's movements. Every time Loya paused slightly, their hearts would tighten, fearing that something unexpected might happen.

"Be careful, Loya!" Lu Yao murmured softly, the torch in her hand swaying slightly with her tension, the flame flickering accordingly.

She tried her best to control her emotions, but her fear of the unknown and her concern for Loya's safety were still hard to hide.

The others stood silently in place, no one spoke, only the sound of each other breathing and the occasional faint sound from afar.

At that moment, time seemed to stand still, and a tense yet mysterious atmosphere filled the air.

They were all waiting, waiting for news from Loya, waiting to unveil the veil of the unknown world they were about to uncover.

Just as the group was growing increasingly anxious, their emotions nearing a breaking point, and they were about to rush to check on the situation, a clear and firm voice suddenly came from the crack. It was Loya's voice.

"Come on over here, there's no danger here." Loya's words were like a shot in the arm, instantly calming everyone down.

The torch in Lu Yao's hand stopped swaying unconsciously. She looked up at the source of the sound, and her panicked heart gradually calmed down.

The others also breathed a sigh of relief, their faces showing expressions of relief.

The group cautiously followed the route Loya had taken, gradually approaching the mysterious crevice.

They carefully, one by one, passed through the narrow and mysterious crevice, as if crossing the boundaries of time and space and arriving in a completely new world.

When they stepped fully into this new space, the sight before them made them gasp – it was a cave much larger than the previous one, so spacious that it seemed capable of accommodating a small gathering.

They looked around and began to carefully observe every detail of the cave.

The cave is not completely sealed. Above their heads, there is a huge opening, as if it were a masterpiece of nature, letting light from the outside world into this deep cave.

As Lu Yao and the others were intently observing the cave, Luo Ya's voice suddenly broke the surrounding silence: "Lu Yao, come and take a look, is this the herb we're looking for?"

His tone carried a hint of uncertainty, but more so of excitement at discovering something new.

Upon hearing this, Lu Yao looked in the direction of the voice.

Loya was squatting in front of a slightly damp stone wall, his finger gently touching a grass growing exceptionally vigorously on the ground.

The edges of the grass blades were slightly curled, and they would be difficult to spot in the dim cave without careful searching.

Lu Yao quickly stepped forward, squatted down, and stood shoulder to shoulder with Luo Ya.

She carefully observed the herb; the texture of its leaves and the thickness of its stem matched perfectly with the characteristics of the medicinal herbs they had described for their purpose.

Her heart skipped a beat, and her eyes sparkled with the joy of discovering a treasure.

“Yes, Loya, this is the herb we’ve been looking for!” Lu Yao’s voice was filled with barely concealed excitement.

She carefully reached out and gently pulled the herb from the soil, afraid of damaging its delicate roots.

The roots of the herb were entangled with small pebbles, which Lu Yao carefully removed one by one. Then she held the precious herb in her palm as if it were a rare treasure.

Unexpectedly, their venturing deep into the cave in search of another way out led them to their very target, a truly delightful surprise.

Lu Yao carefully placed the cleaned herbs into the vine basket on her back. "If they can grow here, they might grow in other parts of the cave as well."

After hearing Lu Yao's words, everyone nodded in agreement and then dispersed to carefully search the ground.

They parted the weeds with their hands and scanned every inch of the land with their eyes, afraid of missing any possible medicinal herbs.

Time passed by, but everyone's enthusiasm remained undiminished.

Finally, in a relatively secluded corner, a member of the tribe shouted excitedly, "I found it! There are more here!"

His voice was filled with excitement and joy, instantly attracting everyone's attention.

Everyone gathered around, their faces beaming with unbelievable joy. The small patch of herbs before them was like an oasis in the desert, instantly filling their hearts with happiness.

"It's unbelievable that we found so many medicinal herbs here!" Lu Yao's voice was full of excitement.

Looking at the many newly added medicinal herbs in the wicker baskets, everyone was filled with the joy of a bountiful harvest.

"Now that we've successfully found the precious herbs, and in enough quantity to meet our needs, does that mean we can set off immediately to return to the tribe?" one of the tribesmen asked expectantly, his eyes gleaming with the joy of completing his mission.

The group turned their attention to Lu Yao, who was carefully inspecting the herbs she had just collected, making sure that each one was intact. Her movements were meticulous and focused.

Sensing the questioning gazes around her, Lu Yao slowly raised her head, her clear and deep eyes scanning everyone as if weighing something.

"Yes, indeed, we have achieved our goal for this trip." Lu Yao's voice was gentle. She patted the dirt off her hands and continued, "But before we go back, I want to look around here a bit more to see if there are any resources that can help us defend against the beast horde."

Seeing the confused expressions on their faces, Lu Yao continued to explain, "When we went to the orc market before, I found that the patrol teams there were already using iron swords. I was thinking of seeing if we had any iron ore here, so that we could forge iron swords like them and be more confident when dealing with the beast hordes."

Lu Yao paused for a moment, then reorganized her thoughts.

"You should all remember the horrific scene of the previous beast attack. The terrifying scene still makes people feel lingering fear when they think about it."

As the cold season draws ever closer and food becomes increasingly scarce, I am deeply worried that those wild beasts will once again gather in packs and attack our tribe without hesitation.

"But, Lu Yao, didn't our tribe handle the last beast attack quite well?"

Although we paid a price in the process, we ultimately succeeded in repelling the wild beasts and protecting our tribe.

If we do it again, we will be just as united and fearless as last time, and drive back those beasts that try to invade us!

"Our tribe's warriors will not be defeated by any difficulties!" A tribesman stepped forward, his voice filled with confidence.

As soon as he finished speaking, the people around him immediately echoed his words.

However, Lu Yao merely shook her head slightly. Her eyes remained filled with lingering worry, as if a thick, dark cloud hung over her heart, refusing to dissipate. Her voice was low and powerful, each word seeming to be squeezed out from the depths of her heart.

“I know your courage and determination, which is the cornerstone that has enabled our tribe to stand firm and survive through storms. It is because of you that our tribe has been able to stand up and thrive through crisis after crisis.”

She paused for a moment, her gaze sweeping over everyone present, her eyes filled with deep concern and expectation.

"But I must also remind you that every beast attack is an unknown test, full of variables."

We cannot become blindly confident because of one victory, nor can we become complacent with past glories. We must always remain vigilant.

Her tone grew heavier: "Moreover, I don't know if you've noticed, but this beast attack is somewhat different from the past. There seem to be some more intelligent beasts among the herd, and their behavior is more purposeful and more unpredictable."

Upon hearing this, Loya frowned. He recalled the scene of the beast attack and felt a sense of unease.

"You mean the last beast to come out, the one that tried to calm the herd and stop them from retreating?" he asked.
