Phoenix Dance: The Eldest Daughter's Physician Consort Shocks the World

Chapter 15 The Flower Viewing Banquet is Full of Perils

Three days later, Su Yao, dressed in a moon-white long dress embroidered with plum blossoms, her hair simply styled in a bun and adorned with only a white jade hairpin, gracefully and elegantly headed to the Crown Prince's residence. The Crown Prince's residence was brightly decorated and adorned with flowers, but Su Yao knew in her heart that danger lurked behind this splendor.

As soon as she stepped into the Crown Prince's residence, a maid led her to the garden. In the garden, everyone was already sitting together. The Crown Prince sat in the main seat. When he saw Su Yao enter, a hint of sinister ruthlessness flashed in his eyes, which he then replaced with a hypocritical smile: "Sister Su Yao, you've come. The flowers in this garden today were specially prepared for you. Please enjoy them."

Su Yao bowed respectfully and said, "Thank you for your kindness, Your Highness. I am deeply honored." After saying that, she sat down in an empty seat to the side.

The flower-viewing banquet began, and everyone rose to admire the flowers. Su Yao moved with the crowd, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings. Suddenly, a cat darted out from the flowers, bumping into a noblewoman. Startled, the noblewoman lunged straight at Su Yao. Su Yao dodged to the side, but felt her foot trip on something, causing her to involuntarily lean forward, about to fall against the nearby artificial hill.

Just at this critical moment, a hand quickly reached out and supported her. Su Yao looked up and saw that it was the Seventh Prince, Xiao Yichen.

"Thank you, Your Highness," Su Yao said softly.

Xiao Yichen frowned slightly, a hint of worry in his eyes: "Miss Su, be careful, this garden may not be peaceful."

The Crown Prince's face darkened horribly at the sight of this scene. He was furious at Xiao Yichen's interference, but he couldn't show it. He could only suppress his anger and say, "Seventh Brother, you're quite chivalrous. You've already played the hero and rescued the beauty so quickly."

Xiao Yichen replied calmly, "Your Highness is too kind. I merely helped Miss Su when she was nearly injured. This is simply the conduct expected of a man of our dynasty."

As everyone continued to admire the flowers, Su Yao discreetly observed her surroundings. She noticed several men who looked like servants lingering near her with hostile eyes. She became secretly wary, knowing that the Crown Prince definitely had more tricks up his sleeve.

Sure enough, after a while, a maid came over with a plate of pastries and said respectfully, "Miss Su, these are pastries that His Highness the Crown Prince specially ordered the kitchen to prepare for you. Please have a taste."

Su Yao smiled and accepted the pastry, but noticed that its color was slightly off. A thought struck her, and she deliberately dropped the pastry on the ground. The little dog nearby immediately ran over and started eating it. A moment later, the dog began foaming at the mouth and convulsing.

Upon seeing this, everyone showed expressions of horror. Su Yao feigned panic and said, "What...what's going on? Why is this pastry poisonous?"

The Crown Prince also feigned surprise: "Sister Su Yao, this has nothing to do with me. Someone must be trying to frame you by deliberately poisoning this pastry and trying to pin the blame on me."

Su Yao sneered inwardly. She knew the Crown Prince was trying to cover up his actions, but it wasn't a good time to confront him directly. Xiao Yichen stepped forward and said, "This matter must be thoroughly investigated. How dare they act so presumptuously in the Crown Prince's residence! We must find the mastermind behind this and give Miss Su justice."

Left with no other option, the Crown Prince ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. Taking advantage of the chaos, Su Yao quietly said to Xiao Yichen, "Thank you for your help again today, Your Highness. I know what's going on; the Crown Prince's intentions are becoming increasingly vicious."

Xiao Yichen said in a low voice, "Miss Su, you must be more careful in the future. The Crown Prince will not let this go easily. I can tell that you are no ordinary person. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask."

Su Yao looked at him gratefully: "I appreciate Your Highness's kindness, but this matter should not involve Your Highness. I will handle it carefully."

After much commotion, the flower-viewing banquet came to a hasty end. Su Yao left the Crown Prince's residence safely. Although she had averted another crisis, she knew that the Crown Prince's revenge would only intensify. She had to accelerate her actions to gain a foothold in this treacherous situation, protect herself and those around her, and at the same time, strive for more opportunities to realize her ambitions.
