Phoenix Dance: The Eldest Daughter's Physician Consort Shocks the World

Chapter 11 Turbulent Times Rise in the Hunting Grounds

As dawn broke, glistening dewdrops clung to the grass of the royal hunting grounds. Banners fluttered all around, and gleaming armored guards stood in formation, creating a solemn and dignified atmosphere. The Crown Prince, riding a tall black horse, watched Su Yao in the crowd with a sinister gaze, a barely perceptible smirk playing on his lips.

"Su Yao, you'd better perform well on the hunt today. I've heard your martial arts skills are lacking, so don't embarrass General Su's mansion." The Crown Prince spoke slowly, his voice full of sarcasm.

Su Yao, dressed in a close-fitting outfit, stood tall and straight. She bowed respectfully, her expression calm: "This humble woman will certainly do her best, so Your Highness need not trouble yourself."

The hunting horns sounded, and everyone spurred their horses into the woods. Su Yao rode forward, her eyes warily scanning her surroundings. Suddenly, a stray arrow shot out from the bushes beside her, aimed straight for her face. Su Yao was prepared; she dodged to the side, the arrow grazing her cheek and leaving a faint trail of blood.

"Hmph, trying to ambush me? Not so easy." Su Yao muttered to herself, her gaze quickly sweeping towards the direction from which the arrows came, where she saw several dark figures flash past in the woods.

At this moment, the Crown Prince appeared with several trusted aides, feigning concern, and asked, "Su Yao, what's wrong? Did you encounter some danger in this forest?"

Su Yao sneered inwardly, but remained outwardly calm: "Thank you for your concern, Your Highness. I merely startled a wild rabbit by accident and was a little flustered."

The prince's expression stiffened for a moment, then he smiled and said, "That's good. Wild beasts roam freely in this hunting ground, so Sister Su Yao must be careful." With that, he led his men away.

Su Yao watched the Crown Prince's departing figure, a cold glint in her eyes. She knew the Crown Prince wouldn't let it go so easily.

Continuing deeper into the hunting grounds, Su Yao, relying on her agility and keen observation, hunted several rabbits and pheasants. Just as she was preparing to return to the rendezvous point, she heard a painful groan.

Following the sound, they saw a young general being attacked by a wounded and raging wild boar. His leg was injured and bleeding profusely, and he was struggling to defend himself.

Without hesitation, Su Yao rushed forward and lashed the wild boar's eye with her whip. Taking advantage of the boar's pain and distraction, she quickly pulled the injured general behind her.

"Thank you for saving my life, young lady. My name is Lin Yu, and I am a deputy general under General Zhenyuan," the young general said gratefully.

Su Yao nodded slightly: "General Lin, you don't need to be so polite. Your injuries are quite serious. Let me bandage you first."

She took out herbs and bandages from her bag and skillfully treated Lin Yu's wounds. Lin Yu looked at Su Yao's focused expression and his heart stirred.

"Miss Su's medical skills are so superb, it's truly admirable," Lin Yu exclaimed sincerely.

Su Yao smiled and said, "I only know a little bit, General Lin, you flatter me."

Just then, the sound of horses' hooves came from afar, and the Crown Prince returned with his entourage. Seeing Su Yao and Lin Yu together, a flash of jealousy and anger crossed the Crown Prince's eyes.

"Su Yao, how dare you be alone with a man in the hunting grounds! Come back with me right now!" the Crown Prince roared.

Su Yao stood up and said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "Your Highness, General Lin is injured, and as a physician, it is my duty to treat him. Your Highness is acting so indiscriminately, are you perhaps trying to jeopardize General Lin's life by delaying his treatment?"

The Crown Prince was speechless after Su Yao's words, and his anger grew even stronger, but he couldn't retaliate. He could only snort coldly, "Hmph, I'll spare you this time. Now get out of here!"

Su Yao helped Lin Yu back to the camp with the Crown Prince and the others. Although Su Yao had experienced many twists and turns during this hunt, she also met a loyal and righteous person by helping Lin Yu, which quietly planted a seed for her future plans.
