The Bully General's Spiritual Husband
Chapter 70 23 Things in the Village
At midnight, a dark figure knocked on the dilapidated wooden door of a small courtyard.
A soft voice came from behind the door: "The door isn't locked, come in quickly."
The shadowy figure glanced around, and seeing that no one was paying attention, quickly slipped inside.
He hugged the petite figure behind the door tightly.
"I've missed you so much! Let me kiss you!" she said, and kissed the young man who was wearing an undershirt and had disheveled hair.
While laughing and dodging, Liu Fulang asked in a low voice, "Did you close the door? Don't let outsiders in!"
With the soft, fragrant woman in his arms, the man didn't think much of it and replied casually, "It's closed. I haven't seen her for days. I've missed her terribly."
After saying that, he picked the person up and carried them straight into the house.
Liu Fulang leaned on the man's shoulder with a smile.
Like a soft, clinging fairy, under the moonlight, she seemed to suck away one's life force.
Li Ben, holding Liu Fulang in his arms, hurriedly kicked open the door and headed towards the bed.
……
Wan Ya had a terrifying nightmare while half-asleep. She was startled awake, sweating profusely, and called out to her husband who was sleeping next to her.
I looked up and reached into the blankets beside me, but there was no one there!
The bed was still cold. I wondered to myself: Could it be that I got up in the middle of the night? It's been so long!
Just as he was about to put on his shoes and go out to take a look, Li Ben pushed open the door and walked in with a look of reminiscence on his face.
By the moonlight streaming through the window, I saw Wan Ya sitting blankly on the bed, and my heart skipped a beat: Could it be that Wan Ya has discovered this?
Trying to remain calm, she said, "Why are you getting up? It's still a while before dawn."
Wan Ya asked with lingering fear, "Where did you go?"
Li Ben, his face full of impatience, said, "Go pee!" Then he crawled into the blankets, turned his head away, and refused to look at Wan Ya again.
Wan Ya wanted to tell Li Ben about the nightmare she had just had, but seeing that he was ignoring her, she lay down as well.
Suddenly, she smelled a familiar fragrance on Li Ben and thought: Maybe I'm just smelling it wrong, but this smells just like the perfume Liu Tao uses!
Just as dawn was breaking, Chen stood at Wan Ya's door and shouted, "Wan Ya, what time is it? Aren't you going to get up and make breakfast? Do you want me to starve to death?!"
Wan Ya sat up groggily, put on her coat, and was about to put on her shoes and go out when a sudden wave of dizziness hit her and she fainted.
Li Ben pulled the thin blanket over his head and went back to sleep.
Seeing that Wan Ya in the room hadn't responded for a long time, Chen thought that her lazy wife had probably fallen asleep again.
Once she wakes up, I need to set some rules for her.
She's been married into this family for so many years, yet she hasn't been able to raise a single child; she's just a hen that can't lay eggs.
If she still doesn't get pregnant this year, I'll have my son kick her out of the house.
Chen glared fiercely at the bedroom door of Wan Ya and Li Ben with her slanted eyes.
When the sun was high in the sky, Li Ben woke up hungry. Just as he was about to put on the shoes under the bed, he looked down and saw Wan Ya lying unconscious on the ground.
She shouted towards the outside, "Mother...come quick! Wanya has fainted!"
Chen had prepared breakfast early and was just about to call Wan Ya and the other person to eat breakfast, and also to give Wan Ya a good talking-to.
Upon hearing that Wan Ya had fainted, he put down what he was doing and came over.
"She's fainted. I'm afraid she's just shirking her duties!"
Li Ben hurriedly carried Wan Ya to the bed, saying, "Mother, you're still making sarcastic remarks. She has really fainted."
Although Li Ben didn't particularly like the wife his mother had chosen for him, they had at least lived together for a few years.
Chen still couldn't quite believe that Wan Ya had fainted. She walked closer to the bedside and, taking advantage of Li Ben's inattention, pinched Wan Ya hard a few times with her hand hidden in her sleeve.
Seeing that the person was completely still, they then realized that the person had fainted.
"Go and eat the porridge your mother just cooked, my son. It's so early in the morning, you must be hungry."
Li Ben was someone who always listened to his mother, so he asked uncertainly, "Mother, should we go to town and ask a doctor to take a look?"
Chen's sunken eyes bulged: "Why bother? The town doctor doesn't charge a trip!"
Li Ben didn't dare to speak and silently walked out the door.
He couldn't care less; he was hungry and needed to eat.
Besides, my mother is in charge of the household, so she'll handle things accordingly.
Wan Ya might wake up soon.
He had been pestered by that little vixen Liu Tao all night, and was starving.
Li Ben went to the kitchen, looked at the porridge that Chen had cooked in the pot, and ladled himself a large bowlful.
They wolfed down the freshly baked coarse grain pancakes.
Looking at Wan Ya, who was still unconscious, Chen kept poking her forehead with her finger: "You barren hen, you're just causing me trouble."
Chen thought that if Wan Ya was still unconscious, there would be no one to help with the work in the fields.
He went out, rummaged through the storeroom, and pulled out something that looked like grass roots, then walked towards the kitchen.
Li Ben saw this and asked, "Mother, what are you doing?"
"I'll brew some medicine for Wanya. Okay, after you finish eating, go check on the fields. When Wanya wakes up, I'll bring her over with me."
Li Ben reluctantly put down his bowl, picked up his hoe, and lazily walked towards the field.
I thought I could go back inside and lie down for a while longer. Why did Wan Ya have to get sick today of all times?
Soon, Madam Chen brought a bowl of dark, murky medicine to Wan Ya's room.
He poured the whole thing into the drowsy Wan Ya.
"Alright, you lazy daughter-in-law, wake up quickly so we can go to the fields to weed in a little while."
Half an hour later, Wan Ya, who was in a deep sleep, felt something flowing out of her lower body and suddenly opened her eyes.
He saw a bloody stain on his pants and screamed, "Ah—!"
Hearing the commotion inside, Chen pushed open the door and came in. "What are you yelling about? If you're awake, get up now."
Wan Ya clutched her lower abdomen in pain, her forehead dripping with sweat.
He was sobbing.
Chen was startled by the pool of red blood beneath Wan Ya. As someone who had been through similar experiences, she immediately understood that Wan Ya had miscarried.
She immediately burst into tears and wailed, "Oh God... how could you be so cruel? My grandson is gone!"
Wan Ya was in so much pain that she couldn't straighten up and cried out, "Mother, save me... I'm in so much pain!"
Coming to her senses, Chen thought that perhaps she still had time, so she hurriedly ran towards the village midwife's house.
Hearing the commotion, the neighbors rushed to the Li family's house and saw Wan Ya screaming in pain inside.
Three or five women and their husbands went inside.
They were all startled: "Wan Ya, hang in there, it'll be over in a bit."
"Quick, quick...go and boil some water!"
Some people went to the field to inform Li Ben, who was exchanging glances with Liu Tao.
The messenger shouted, "Li Ben, hurry home! Something's happened to your wife!"
Li Ben ignored Liu Tao in the field and hurried home, thinking: Could it be that Wan Ya is not going to survive? But her mother has already given her medicine!
Hearing that something had happened to the Li family, many people rushed over here.
Yin Baicai was picking vegetables in Zhang Cui's field when she saw that everyone in the village was heading to Li's house.
She asked Zhang Cui, "Aunt Zhang, where are you all going? You seem to be in such a hurry."
"Let me ask!"
Zhang Cui caught up with a woman she got along well with and asked her, and then she understood the whole story.
He came over and told Yin Baicai, who then remembered that Wan Ya was the one who said they had a share when Li the bully went to town to sell deer that day!
This is truly karma!
