The Bully General's Spiritual Husband

Chapter 26 Cutting Down Trees to Make Beams

Even though he was very sleepy, Yin Baicai struggled to get out of bed early the next morning, because he still had to go up the mountain today!

Yesterday, he instructed Li Zhe to bring Li Mo to his place for breakfast.

Yin Baicai cooked the porridge, made a lot of egg pancakes, and steamed eggs for Li Mo.

Just as I finished preparing the food and put it on the table, the uncle and nephew came over.

Yin Baicai handed the bowls to the two of them. After the three of them finished eating, Li Zhe took Li Mo home and then went up the mountain with Yin Baicai, carrying a wood-chopping knife.

Yin Baicai knew nothing about roof beams, so she asked, "Li the bully, how many trees do you think I need to cut down? I'm planning to build just three houses."

Li Zhe estimated that following the rules for building a house, "four beams and eight pillars" would suffice.

Yin Baicai didn't understand either. Li Zhe selected the necessary beams and pillars, marked them, and then started chopping down trees with his axe.

After cutting down one tree, Yin Baicai was responsible for trimming the branches with a machete.

The two worked together for a whole morning. Yin Baicai said to Li Zhe, who was still logging, "It's almost noon. I'll carry one tree back first, cook lunch, and then come back to call you!"

Li Zhe stopped what he was doing and nodded to Yin Baicai: "You carry the thinner ones, I'll carry the thicker ones later."

The thicker ones are used for the main beams, while the thinner ones are used for the pillars.

"Okay." Of course, Yin Baicai didn't dare to be reckless. With the original owner's small body, it would be impossible for her to carry such a thick thing. If she accidentally hurt her back, she would suffer a lot.

Carrying the thin piece of wood, Yin Baicai slowly and leisurely descended the mountain.

The two had agreed earlier that they would leave all the beams and pillars at Li Zhe's house, and they could just take them from his house when they needed them, saving them the trouble of coming all the way to the end of the village to get them.

Wang Huanhua, who had just come down from the mountain, was carrying grass for the chickens when she saw Yin Baicai carrying a tree ahead of her.

Remembering the time she was scolded by the village chief's wife, she maliciously dragged Yin Baicai from behind, causing her to lose her balance and fall.

Wang Huanhua laughed out loud: "Some people think that building a house is something special. They can't even lift a single pillar. I'm afraid the house will collapse even if it's built."

Yin Baicai walked over angrily, "You old hag, don't think I don't know. You pulled me from behind. You really have a nerve."

Yin Baicai pushed her, snatched her basket, and threw the grass she had just cut down the mountain path.

"That's called settling scores on the spot." He was already tired and hungry after a busy morning, and this woman was still pulling him along. He couldn't stand it.

Wang Huanhua cursed loudly, "You wicked devil, you dare to push me and throw grass at me! I won't let you get away with this!" Enraged, she rushed over, intending to hit Yin Baicai.

Although Yin Baicai was thin, she was still stronger than Wang Huanhua, a woman.

He grabbed Wang Huanhua's wrist and said, "You think I'm afraid of you? You started this trouble. I don't mess with people unless they mess with me. If you try to hit me again, don't blame me for being impolite."

Wang Huanhua's hand was grabbed, and she began to struggle, but Yin Baicai remained unmoved.

"You wicked devil, let me go! How dare you bully me? I am your elder!"

Yin Baicai sneered, "Someone like you who scolds the younger generation is no elder at all." She released her hand and gave Wang Huanhua a cold look, "If you dare to do anything bad again, I'll deal with you too. I, Yin Baicai, am not the kind of person who doesn't hit women."

Wang Huanhua was frightened by Yin Baicai's eyes. When did this jinx have such sharp eyes? Wasn't she always the one who was bullied and didn't dare to utter a word?

Yin Baicai carried her log down the mountain, and Wang Huanhua, that bully who preyed on the weak and feared the strong, naturally dared not do anything bad anymore.

Only after Yin Baicai had gone far away did he dare to grumble and pick up the grass that Yin Baicai had thrown away.

Yin Baicai used the key to open Li Zhe's door. It was the key Li Zhe had given him last time. He had returned it to Li Zhe, who then told him to leave it with him for now.

Li Mo saw Yin Baicai carrying the wood over and wanted to come over to help, but Yin Baicai stopped him: "Little Mo, sit still. This is heavy, brother will carry it himself."

Li Mo obediently sat down and watched Yin Baicai carry the wood into the yard.

After putting down the wood, Yin Baicai casually scooped a ladle of water from Li Zhe's water vat and drank it. Ah, this well water is so refreshing in the summer, like a cold drink from the refrigerator.

After finishing her water, Yin Baicai took Li Mo's hand and said, "Let's go to Brother Xiaobai's house for dinner."

Li Mo obediently followed beside him, hopping and skipping.

Li Mo was very happy. Now he could go to his parents' house for meals. He had also heard from his uncle that his mother would build a house next to his house in a while, and then he could go to his parents' house to play every day.

Yin Baicai washed the rice clean, steamed it, and then stir-fried a few dishes.

He said to Li Mo, who was sitting outside, "Xiao Mo, close the door. I'm going to call your uncle back for dinner."

Yin Baicai walked through the woods under the blazing sun, and Li Zhe had already cut down several more trees while he was away.

Yin Baicai called out to Li Zhe, who was still chopping down trees, "Brother Li, eat first, rest for a while after you finish eating, and then come back to chop down trees."

The two of them carried a tree down the mountain one by one and placed it in front of Yin Baicai's house. Li Mo heard the noise, opened the door and poked his little head out: "Mom, Uncle, you're back."

Yin Baicai rubbed Li Mo's head and said, "Let's go eat."

The two washed their hands by the water vat, picked up their rice bowls, and began to eat. Yin Baicai kept putting food on the uncle and nephew's plates.

The two of them also put food in his bowl, and soon all three bowls were full.

After finishing their meal, they sat and rested for a while. Then, the two carried the tree to Li Zhe's house. Li Mo also came back with them. Children are often sleepy, and Li Mo kept yawning from the very beginning.

After piling up the trees, Li Zhe carried Li Mo back to the room to sleep, and the two prepared to go up the mountain again.

The two worked from dawn till dusk before finally bringing all the trees back.

Yin Baicai felt extremely sore all over.

But his stomach started growling, and he still had to cook! He dragged his tired body and forced himself to stand up from the stool.

Li Zhe frowned as he looked at the exhausted man. This strong-willed young man had said he would do the rest himself, but he insisted on doing it all.

Yin Baicai felt embarrassed to keep asking Li Zhe for help. It was already much better that he helped her, since repairing the house was her own business.

Yin Baicai quickly prepared the meal. The night was finally a bit cooler, so she lit the candles and ate dinner in the courtyard.

After finishing their meal, the uncle and nephew, along with Yin Baicai, cleaned up and went home.

Yin Baicai was exhausted. She quickly washed up and climbed into bed, falling fast asleep.

Heavy snoring broke the stillness of the night.

When Li Zhe got home, he also felt a bit sore in his arms, which meant he hadn't been exercising much lately.

I've done much harder work than this when I was in the army. Starting tomorrow, I'll be exercising every day.

Li Zhe thought that Yin Baicai must be exhausted today, so he would send the medicated oil to him tomorrow.

He had just forgotten about it.
