The Bully General's Spiritual Husband

Chapter 115 The Insomnia Trio

Back home, Li Lin became increasingly restless. Liu Tao was pregnant, and it was his own child. If his father found out, he would skin him alive.

Liu Xiaolian looked at the absent-minded Li Lin and patted him, "I'm talking to you, aren't you listening?"

Coming to his senses, Li Lin said, "What did you say? I was just thinking about something!"

Liu Xiaolian: "I said Xiaobao is already five years old. Shouldn't we discuss with his father about sending him to a private school? I've heard people say that the earlier he starts learning, the better."

Li Lin was already in a bad mood, and Liu Xiaolian kept talking in his ear. He yelled, "If you want to say something, say it yourself. Stop bothering me."

Liu Xiaolian sensed that Li Lin had been unusually impatient with her lately, sometimes inexplicably drifting off into thought while they were talking. Even when she asked him to buy her a new style of hairpin that was currently available in town, he made excuses and refused.

Even Liu Tao, that unlucky widow, has one, but I don't. Now she's even yelling at me directly.

Unable to bear it any longer, Liu Xiaolian burst into tears, pointing at Li Lin and saying, "Li Lin, you're not human! How dare you yell at me! Who am I doing this for? I'm doing this for our family! If Xiao Bao gets into university, we'll have plenty of time to enjoy life... Waaah!"

Liu Xiaolian cried as she spoke, which only made Li Lin more agitated. "Don't cry. I didn't mean to. Don't wake up Father and the others, or you'll be in big trouble," Li Lin said in a low voice.

Liu Xiaolian was afraid that her crying would wake up Li Jiang and Wang Huanhua in the next room, so she finally stopped crying and said, "I don't care, you should bring this up with your father and the others tomorrow."

Li Lin nodded: "Yes."

Wan Ya wandered around the mountain until dusk before returning home. She now wished she could poison Li Ben and the others to death. But then she thought that even if she poisoned them, she would go to jail, and it wasn't worth dying for those despicable people.

After a long day of working in the fields, Chen and Li returned home to find the stove and pots empty and Wan Ya nowhere to be seen. They were loudly cursing and swearing in the yard.

"What a jinx you married! What a misfortune for your family..."

Wan Ya secretly hid the aconitine she had found, and just as she reached her doorstep, she heard Chen's cursing.

His eyes turned cold, and he cursed, "Let's see how long you can keep cursing, you old hag."

As soon as she pushed the door open, Chen rushed over and said, "Where have you been? You didn't even cook. Do you want to starve us?"

As she spoke, she tried to tear Wan Ya apart, but Wan Ya dodged to the side, and Chen's hand missed its mark.

Wan Ya walked silently towards her room and saw Li Ben lying on the bed like a king. Thinking of Liu Tao and his shameful affair, she wanted nothing more than to strangle Li Ben.

But she held back; she needed to plan this carefully.

As dusk fell, Yin Baicai, carrying the dug potatoes on her back, had just stepped onto the embankment when she saw Li Zhe walking towards her.

Li Zhe frowned: "You don't need to dig. I can do it myself after I'm done with these few days."

Yin Baicai: "I'm just killing time anyway, so I might as well take this as exercise. By the way, is there any progress on your investigation?"

"I've got some." Li Zhe took the basket off Yin Baicai's back and carried it on his own.

Yin Baicai carried a hoe and followed beside him, the two of them hurrying home together.

Li Mo had already woken up. When Li Zhe went out to the field to find Yin Baicai, he had already put the rice on the stove to steam. Li Mo obediently sat on a small stool in front of the stove to add firewood.

Recently, Li Mo and Li Zhe have been eating at Yin Baicai's house, and the three of them are like a real family. The only thing missing is for Li Zhe to move in.

Ever since Yin Baicai fell ill, Li Mo has been unusually clingy to him, and has been sleeping at his place lately.

Yin Baicai picked out a lot of potatoes he had dug up and cooked them in a simmering pot. He also made tomato sauce for Li Mo to dip in. He and Li Zhe ate the spicy version.

Li Zhe recounted the clues he had found to Yin Baicai. After listening, Yin Baicai said, "This Li Jiang is really cunning. Have you found out who gave Li Jiang the medicine?"

"Not yet, but what is certain is that this person is related to the deaths of my parents."

This was the first time Yin Baicai had heard Li Zhe talk about his parents, and she asked curiously, "The villagers all say that your parents were killed by robbers. What's the story behind this?"

Li Zhe's eyes were dark: "Even if I was young at the time, my older brother and I were old enough to remember things. Father and the others were tricked out by Li Jiang and never came back. This is just something Li Jiang said, but I don't believe it."

Yin Baicai had an idea in mind. Everyone says that even tigers don't eat their cubs. This Li Jiang can even harm his own nephew. What else is he incapable of doing?

This vicious and ruthless villain is praised as kind-hearted by the villagers. They're all blind!

Yin Baicai didn't know how to comfort Li Zhe, so she put a piece of meat in his bowl and said, "Eat more, you'll have the energy to investigate things if you're full."

Li Zhe nodded, "Mm." Li Zhe wanted to deal with the current situation first before telling Yin Baicai that he liked her. As things stood, Yin Baicai only saw him as a friend or brother, but that wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted to spend his whole life with this person; the initial engagement was just a delaying tactic. He would let him go if he met the right person, but now he realized he couldn't let go.

Yin Baicai, who was eating with her head down, didn't see the possessiveness in Li Zhe's eyes. If she had, she probably would have had to tighten her belt and run away.

Moonlight streamed into the room through the window. Wan Ya, her hair disheveled, looked at the sleeping person beside her with dark red eyes.

He placed his hands on Li Ben's neck, as if he wanted to strangle him to death.

Suddenly realizing what was happening, she knew she couldn't let them die so easily. She had to find a way to eliminate them all without implicating herself.

Wan Ya wore a cold smile, her gaze fixed on the person lying next to her.

Li Lin couldn't sleep until midnight, fearing that things would be exposed. Although he and Liu Tao had planned to frame Li Ben, he was always worried about the possibility of something going wrong.

If the child looks like me, wouldn't outsiders be able to tell?

With a heavy heart, he decided to go all the way and make Liu Tao abort the child. After all, he already had a son, and he wouldn't dare keep the bastard in her belly.

Liu Tao was also lying on the bed, unable to close his eyes tightly. He and Li Ben had been together for so long, but they had never conceived. He had only been with Li Lin for a short time before they had.

If you pin this on Li Ben, what if the child doesn't look like him when it's born? Wouldn't that give you away?

Liu Tao placed her hand on her stomach, but she couldn't bear to lose the child. She was a widow, and while she was young, things were alright; but when she got old, she wouldn't have anyone to rely on.

Her family disliked her because she had brought bad luck and caused her husband's death not long after their marriage.

They've already cut off all contact; this baby in her belly is her only hope for the rest of her life.

The more Liu Tao thought about it, the more determined she was to give birth to the child.

Little did he know, two people had already set their sights on the baby in his belly.
