Early morning sunlight streamed into the room through the curtains. Bai Mengmeng stretched and sat up in bed. She looked around and noticed that Lu Ze wasn't beside her. He must have gotten up early to get busy. She didn't think much of it, because they had enough trust and understanding between them.
Bai Mengmeng slowly got out of bed and walked to the dining table, where she saw a sumptuous breakfast laid out. She happily sat down and began to enjoy the delicious food. While eating, she thought about what fun things she could do that day.
Just then, the door opened, and Lu Ze walked in. Bai Mengmeng looked up and immediately sensed that Lu Ze seemed to be in a bad mood. Although he tried to smile, the smile looked somewhat forced.
"Good morning!" Lu Ze said softly.
"Good morning..." Bai Mengmeng hesitated for a moment, but still couldn't help asking, "What's wrong? You seem a little unhappy."
Lu Ze frowned slightly, trying to hide his emotions. But faced with Bai Mengmeng's concerned gaze, he knew he couldn't hide it any longer.
"Well, I just finished some work, and it didn't go very well," he confessed.
Bai Mengmeng sighed softly and comforted her, "Don't worry too much. There aren't that many things in the world that go perfectly. It's normal to encounter difficulties."
Lu Ze nodded in agreement.
"Thank you for your comforting words. I will adjust my mood," he said.
"Okay, that's good." Bai Mengmeng said with a smile, "You continue with your work, I'll eat first."
Lu Ze watched Bai Mengmeng continue enjoying her breakfast, then turned and went back to the bedroom.
After quickly finishing her meal, Bai Mengmeng left home for the company.
As soon as Bai Mengmeng entered the office, she saw a mountain of documents piled on her desk. She immediately noticed one document with a special mark. She quickly walked to the window, an angle unlikely to be captured by the office security cameras. Bai Mengmeng gently opened the document; inside was a photograph. Although the image was somewhat blurry, the identity of the person in question had been confirmed through technical means.
She examined the photos closely and noticed that Uncle Lu's figure appeared in the corner. So this was what Lu Ze had discovered that morning. Bai Mengmeng then flipped to the next photo, a different scene. She gazed silently at every detail. When she looked up, she saw her own face reflected in the windowpane, and a relieved smile spread across her face. Finally, she could take her revenge.
At the same moment, Wang Cheng also received these photos. Although Lu Ze had already taken all the information related to the newspaper, Bai Mengmeng had inexplicably sent him these photos. However, they were just ordinary photos, without any other information. Wang Cheng quickly ordered his men to identify the people in the photos as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Bai Mengmeng arrived at an abandoned house. She slowly pushed open the door, and a distant memory flooded her mind. Once, she too had been so vulnerable and powerless, even imprisoned here. Bai Mengmeng didn't venture deeper into the room, for it was filled with cobwebs. After closing the door, the entire room plunged into darkness, making it difficult to distinguish between night and day.
Bai Mengmeng's heart was filled with hatred and anger. She couldn't forget those who had bound her when she was a child, and how they had explained everything with just a casual remark. No one had ever apologized to her, except for Luffy. Perhaps one could say that Luffy was at least halfway to repent. After all, if it weren't for him, Bai Mengmeng didn't know how much longer she would have been trapped in that room, or even if she would have survived. Therefore, no one could forgive those who had hurt her on her behalf.
Wang Cheng slowly walked up behind Bai Mengmeng and said softly, "I didn't expect you to come here." Bai Mengmeng turned around to face Wang Cheng, a smile appearing on her lips: "You're quite clever, you guessed I was here."
Wang Cheng gently draped a coat over Bai Mengmeng's shoulders and said with concern, "It's windy here, be careful not to catch a cold." Bai Mengmeng nodded slightly and walked outside. Wang Cheng followed her, and the two walked together toward the distant mountaintop.
Bai Mengmeng stopped and turned to Wang Cheng, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, but you were really funny last night." Wang Cheng smiled awkwardly, "I'm sorry, I scared you. I didn't expect that scoundrel to be so lustful; I didn't think things through." Bai Mengmeng gently shook her head and smiled, saying, "It's alright, as long as you're safe."
Wang Cheng continued, "But your father will probably be quite busy." Bai Mengmeng sighed, "Yes, it's good to distract him a bit, so he won't always be watching me." Wang Cheng nodded, indicating his understanding.
Bai Mengmeng stood there quietly, her gaze fixed on the distant mountaintop, as if lost in thought. Wang Cheng looked at her and couldn't help but ask, "You still can't forget the past?" Bai Mengmeng sighed deeply, a trace of sadness flashing in her eyes: "I also want to let go, but those memories keep attacking me. Like you, I want to let go but can't, and that's really unfair to myself."
"Are you really going to do this?" Wang asked Bai Mengmeng earnestly.
Bai Mengmeng nodded firmly, indicating that her mind was made up.
“But you are a princess, you can’t let your hands get stained with blood… Leave these matters to me!” Wang Cheng said with a serious expression.
Bai Mengmeng looked at him in confusion: "Are you crazy?"
"Do you still remember the scene of you following behind your father? Although I refused his help at the time, I will always remember that you gave me all your savings. From that moment on, you will always be my princess." Wang Cheng looked at Bai Mengmeng affectionately.
Bai Mengmeng looked at him, a little embarrassed, and said, "Don't keep calling me princess, I'm not a real princess." As she spoke, she took out a photo from her bag, which was marked with a red pen.
Wang Cheng was surprised to discover that Lu Ze was among those who kidnapped Bai Mengmeng years ago. He frowned: "Are you sure you want to take action against all of them? Including Lu Ze?"
Bai Mengmeng said helplessly, "When I saw this photo, I was also hesitant. But those painful memories kept lingering in my mind. I hinted at it to him, but he didn't say anything. I don't know if he really forgot or if he's pretending to forget."
Wang Cheng gripped the photo tightly, a flash of anger and determination in his eyes.
Bai Mengmeng's mind was in complete turmoil; she had never experienced such complex emotional entanglements before.
