Moonlit Calamity: The Dragon Girl's Life of Idleness is Broken
Chapter 65 Study Room
Long Chuqing asked Uncle Zhong if Xiao Han was at the manor today. She thought that if he was at the manor during the day, she would go and give him acupuncture later.
It just so happened that the sun was shining today, so Ziguang and Granny Lin helped her take her clothes down to wash them.
She went back upstairs and sat at the desk by the window, writing a list of medicinal herbs. Some herbs were almost used up and needed to be replenished, and a few different herbs needed to be added.
Recently, Xiao Han needed to boil a lot of medicinal herbs for her medicinal baths, so she increased the amount of herbs significantly.
After she finished writing, she took the list downstairs and got a certain amount of herbs from the pharmacy. She originally wanted to ask Ziguang to take them to Qinli Courtyard, but seeing that she and Granny Lin were washing clothes, she had no choice but to take them herself.
When she entered Qinli Courtyard, the guards at the gate did not stop her, and she went straight in. She saw Granny Liu outside the small kitchen.
Granny Liu stepped forward and curtsied, saying, "Greetings, Miss Long."
"Hello, Granny Liu," Long Chuqing greeted with a smile, "Are you busy right now?"
"No rush," said Granny Liu. "Miss, is there anything you need?"
"It's like this." She handed over the basket in her hand, "These are today's medicinal herbs. If you're not busy, could you brew them now? We might need them later."
“Okay.” Granny Liu accepted the offer and turned to go into the small kitchen.
Long Chuqing came to the corridor and saw Qing Tong. Qing Tong stepped forward and greeted her: "Hello, Miss Long."
"Well, when I came in, the guards didn't stop me, so I just came in on my own," Long Chuqing explained, to avoid being accused of trespassing later.
Seeing her explanation, Qing Tong hurriedly added, "His Highness has instructed that Miss Long may freely enter and leave Qinli Courtyard."
"Oh, I see!" Long Chuqing continued, "Where is he now?"
Qing Tong turned his head and pointed: "The prince is in the study."
"Oh, then give this list to him and let him find someone to purchase it." Long Chuqing handed the list of medicinal herbs to Qing Tong.
After hearing this, Qing Tong glanced at the list in front of him but did not take it. He chuckled and said, "Miss Long, since you're already here, just give it to the Prince yourself! I'm afraid I won't be able to explain it clearly."
"Um..." he said, his eyes darting around, "The prince just told me to take care of something, so I'll be going now." With that, he dashed off.
She watched Qing Tong's departing figure, shook her head helplessly, and continued walking towards the study. When she arrived at the study door, she knocked lightly twice.
"Come in." Xiao Han's voice came from inside, so she pushed open the door and went in. She had never been here before!
The study had several bookshelves, neatly arranged with many books, and the aroma of books filled the air. Several calligraphy and paintings hung on the walls.
Two pots of Cymbidium goeringii were placed on the windowsill next to it, and they were in bloom at the moment, with a faint fragrance wafting in from time to time.
A ray of sunlight slanted in through the window and fell directly on Xiao Han's desk, which was fully equipped with writing brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones. A guqin (a traditional Chinese stringed instrument) was also placed on the shelf next to it.
Upon hearing footsteps, Xiao Han raised his eyes and, seeing that it was her, put down the book in his hand. His serious face softened.
Long Chuqing walked slowly to the desk, a faint smile appearing on her lips: "Reading! Did I disturb you?"
Xiao Han's lips curled up unconsciously, carrying a hint of tenderness: "No."
Long Chuqing took out a list of medicinal herbs and handed it to him: "I'm here to deliver medicine, and I'm also bringing this list of medicinal herbs. Have them buy the herbs according to the quantities listed. You'll be taking medicinal baths every day during this period, so you'll need a large quantity."
"This is only temporary. We will gradually reduce the frequency of herbal baths, and then we won't need to do it so often."
Xiao Han took the list and glanced at it, then said, "Okay, I'll have someone buy it."
Long Chuqing glanced at the books on the table and asked curiously, "What books are you reading?"
Xiao Han glanced at the book on the table, his eyes brightening slightly, and said with a respectful tone, "It is a collection of classic sayings compiled from some of the great Confucian scholars of our dynasty."
"Oh, such classic lines," Long Chuqing exclaimed. "It must be a very good book."
“If you’re interested, you can take it back and have a look,” Xiao Han said with a smile. “I have many books in my study. You can come here to read if you’re bored, or you can take them back to read.”
She's past the age of loving to learn. She's read books for hundreds of years, including many medical books, and now the sight of a book gives her a headache.
She preferred lying in a chair and observing the white clouds in the sky rather than reading a book.
She chuckled dryly twice: "Haha... Okay! Any monster tales?" She was still interested in some strange and unusual stories.
Xiao Han smiled helplessly: "I do have a few, but my sixth brother took them all. I'll ask him for them back another day and then give them to you."
"Okay, if there's nothing else, I'll head out now. You can continue reading!"
"Wait a minute," Xiao Han walked around the desk to Long Chuqing's side, "Did you find any clothes you like today?"
"I hadn't thought to ask you if you hadn't mentioned it." Long Chuqing looked at him and said, "I didn't ask you to buy me clothes! And when you returned them the first time, I said I would buy them myself, but you had Uncle Zhong arrange for two groups of people to come, making such a big fuss. People who didn't know better would think I was hard to please." She complained a little.
“No one dares to say it.” Xiao Han’s gaze softened as he said earnestly, “You don’t need to care about what others think.”
“It’s getting cold lately, and I see you’re still dressed so lightly. If you get sick…” He thought for a moment and changed his words: “If you get sick, wouldn’t it affect your treatment if there’s no one to give you acupuncture?”
Long Chuqing gave him a disdainful look: "Don't worry, it won't affect your treatment."
She knew that wasn't what he meant, but since he said that, she went along with what he said.
The clothes have already been accepted and taken to be washed, so there's no need to dwell on this issue anymore. However, she feels it's best to keep things separate.
"You can deduct the cost of the clothes from the consultation fee later!"
Xiao Han frowned slightly upon hearing this, then raised his hand and lightly flicked her forehead. "Don't mention it again."
Some time passed, and it was already the end of October. Nothing major happened during that time, except that the weather had gotten much colder.
During the day, besides preparing medicine and administering acupuncture for Xiao Han, I also make medicine. Now that I've made a lot of finished medicine, the quantity is gradually decreasing, so I've had a lot more free time these past few days.
Qiushui Pavilion has been quite lively lately, with Granny Lin and Ziguang spreading the word throughout the mansion that Long Chuqing is beautiful, has excellent medical skills, and is also very easygoing.
So recently, whenever the servants in the mansion have free time, they run to Qiushui Pavilion, partly to see this distinguished guest, and partly to seek her medical advice.
Some maids and nannies sought her out for illnesses that were inconvenient for male doctors to treat.
Elderly people suffering from back and leg pain also came to her for treatment. After she gave them acupuncture and medicine several times, they felt that the effect was particularly significant. Their long-standing back and leg pain was greatly relieved, and they praised her medical skills highly.
She would also carefully examine their pulses. Since there were readily available herbs in the yard, she would prepare them for them to take home and decoct themselves. If there were any herbs that were not available, she would write down the prescription and let them go out and get them themselves.
After spending time with her several times, everyone liked her very much and realized that her relationship with the prince was not what they had thought before. They were no longer suspicious of her as before, and showed her more respect. When they met, they would greet her with a smile.
