Moonlit Calamity: The Dragon Girl's Life of Idleness is Broken
Chapter 61 Interrogation 2
Emperor Sukang picked up the teacup on the table, took a sip, and pondered for a moment: "I am not an unreasonable person. If this matter is related to your health, I can punish you leniently." He glanced at the teacup and continued: "This matter has a significant impact, but it is not insignificant either. It all started because of that woman. If she cannot help you get rid of the poison, I will cut off her head."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Han, who had been looking down, suddenly raised his head, straightened his back, and said earnestly, "Father, this incident was caused by my lack of consideration and has nothing to do with her. Even if I cannot be cured, it is my fate. Please do not implicate her."
Hmph... Emperor Sukang snorted inwardly. So nervous, yet he says it's nothing. What a pretentious act. I've seen countless people, do you think you can fool your old man?
"Let's leave it at that for now. We'll deal with any changes later. Anyway, you said you have no romantic feelings for her. She's just a doctor, so there's no need to be so nervous."
Emperor Sukang stared slyly into his eyes, trying to glean something from them, but the emperor's gaze returned to its usual indifferent expression. He muttered to himself, "This is really boring."
"Father is wise; it was I who was presumptuous." Xiao Han knew that his father was probably just being nosy, so it was best not to say anything more at this moment.
"Since that woman said she could cure the poison in your body, you should focus on yourself for the time being and go to the military camp less often. I will arrange for your elder brother to take care of it for you temporarily! You can worry about it again after you have recovered."
He paused for a moment without refuting, knowing it was not the right time to say anything more: "It is entirely up to Father Emperor's arrangement."
Emperor Sukang, fearing that his overthinking would affect his relationship with his brothers, said, "I am not trying to suppress you, but only thinking of your health. Please do not harm the harmony between you brothers."
"Your Majesty, I understand. If there is nothing else, I will take my leave."
"Go."
"My son, please retire."
After leaving the imperial study, Xiao Han sighed softly and looked up at the sky.
Then they headed towards Shaoyang Palace.
"Your subject pays respects to Your Majesty and greets you."
"No need for formalities, get up quickly and come sit with your mother." Consort Shu greeted Xiao Han with a loving expression.
Consort Shu is Xiao Han's birth mother. She entered the palace at the age of sixteen and gave birth to a prince for Emperor Sukang at the age of seventeen. Now she is only in her thirties. She is gentle and beautiful, and Emperor Sukang dotes on her.
Consort Shu pulled Xiao Han's hand and gestured for him to sit down beside her: "It's been a while since I've seen you. You look so thin. Are you not feeling well?"
Consort Shu was unaware that Xiao Han had been poisoned, as neither he nor Emperor Sukang had informed her, not wanting her to worry about it.
"Your Majesty, I am perfectly fine." Xiao Han smiled and looked at Consort Shu: "Perhaps I'm just a little thin from growing up, Mother, there's no need to worry."
Consort Shu raised an eyebrow slightly, a gentle smile playing on her lips: "That's possible too. Why did you only arrive at this hour?"
"Your subject has just come out of the Imperial Study."
"Did it come from your father, the Emperor?" Consort Shu asked worriedly. "Did His Majesty make things difficult for you?"
"How could that be?" Xiao Han reassured him, "We were just discussing some official business."
"It's good that I didn't make things difficult for you." Consort Shu's brows softened as she continued, "It's just that I heard from the Empress the other day that His Majesty was going to select consorts for you brothers, and His Majesty did ask you about it."
She patted Xiao Han's hand: "I don't think there's a rush. You're still young, and you have several older brothers. If you don't want to get married now, I'll refuse the marriage for you."
Xiao Han smiled and said, "Mother, don't worry about this. Just focus on being beautiful. Thinking too much will only cause wrinkles."
Consort Shu touched the corner of her eye and glanced at him: "You're even teasing your mother. I don't want to worry about it, but you are my only child. I know you never let your mother worry, but I can't help but overthink it."
"It looks great, no wrinkles." Xiao Han gently touched the corner of Consort Shu's eye and smiled lightly, "I know a doctor who has some very good scar removal medicine and beauty cream. I'll ask her for some next time and give them to you to try."
Consort Shu's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and she became interested: "Really! It's really useful?"
Xiao Han thought for a moment and said, "I noticed that the maids and nannies around her are using it quite effectively."
"Then bring it to Mother next time, and I'll let Aunt Yu try it out first."
The concubines in the palace would never dare to use anything brought from outside the palace. They would always have their maids test it first before using it. Once their faces were ruined, they would never be favored by the emperor again.
"Alright, I still have to go to the military camp, so I won't disturb you any longer, Mother. Please rest well."
"Go on, business is important, but don't forget about the ointment."
Xiao Han smiled faintly: "I dare not forget, Your Majesty, I take my leave."
It was past dusk when he returned to the Prince's Mansion from the military camp. As soon as he entered Qinli Courtyard, he smelled a strong herbal aroma. It was Granny Liu brewing medicine in the small kitchen in the courtyard.
He walked over suspiciously and asked Granny Liu, "Why are you brewing medicine here?"
"Your Highness, it was Miss Long who asked me to brew medicine here, saying it was for Your Highness's bath."
"She told the prince to have dinner first after he returned before taking a medicinal bath. He had to soak for half an hour. After he was done, he should go and call her, and she would come to give the prince acupuncture."
Xiao Han understood immediately upon hearing this: "Yes, I understand."
"Then this old servant will go and prepare dinner for His Highness."
It was dinnertime, and Long Chuqing was about to wash her hands and eat dinner. She was currently eating with Granny Ziguang.
"Wow, there's braised pork today." Long Chuqing came back and glanced at the dishes on the table. "I love the braised pork from the Prince's Mansion the most. It's fatty but not greasy."
Granny Lin then said, "If you like it, eat more, young lady. You're so thin."
Ziguang chimed in, "Granny, you don't understand. Girls all like slim figures." As she spoke, she stuffed a piece of braised pork into her mouth. "Delicious."
Long Chuqing and Granny Lin both laughed.
"Ziguang is still growing, so eat more. Granny, eat more too," Long Chuqing said.
Mealtimes are always warm and harmonious.
After dinner, Long Chuqing played with the kitten in the courtyard. The kitten is now a regular at Qiushui Pavilion. Granny Lin always feeds it good things, so it often comes to play. Now it looks a bit fatter than before, all chubby.
By late October, the weather had turned from cool to cold, and it was no longer possible to lie in the yard at night and look at the stars. The chirping of insects had also decreased, and they were almost inaudible, so the yard was exceptionally quiet at night.
After dark, they returned to their room. Lin Mama and Ziguang embroidered by candlelight, while Long Chuqing watched them embroider, though she couldn't do it herself.
Zi Guang, who was embroidering flowers, turned to look at her and asked, "Does the young lady know how to embroider?"
"No, I don't want to learn." She shook her head, afraid that Ziguang would say, "I'll teach you," so she stated her attitude directly.
Zi Guang smiled and said, "My mother said that girls should learn needlework. Granny Lin is very good at it. I need to ask her for more advice."
Granny Lin joked, "We use needles to embroider, and the young lady also uses needles... to prick people with needles," and then covered her mouth and laughed.
Zi Guang and Long Chuqing were also amused.
After laughing, Long Chuqing asked, "Do you guys know how to show off your purses? Show off a few more, and I'll put some herbs in them to make sachets. They'll smell much better than the ones on the market."
Ziguang and Granny Lin's eyes lit up upon hearing this: "Great! We'll give it to you when we're done embroidering."
