Moonlit Calamity: The Dragon Girl's Life of Idleness is Broken
Chapter 16 Organizing Medicinal Herbs
Yes, wherever there are people, there will be stories and people will gossip, after all, everyone loves gossip!
About an hour later, the steward came in with three people carrying a box. They walked up to Long Chuqing.
The manager was Zhong Shunyuan, whom everyone called Uncle Zhong.
Qingying asked Uncle Zhong to help arrange the clothes, while he went to arrange the medicinal herbs and other matters, so it was Uncle Zhong who brought the people.
“Miss, I am the steward of the Prince’s Mansion. You can call me Uncle Zhong. These are embroiderers from the embroidery workshop in the capital. She brought a box of clothes with her. Take a look and see if any of them are suitable for you to keep.”
Because Qingying explained that it was the prince who asked this girl to stay in the manor and that she should be treated well, Uncle Zhong was quite polite to her.
The maids came over, curtsied, opened the chests, took out the clothes, and unfolded them for Long Chuqing to see.
The lead embroiderer smiled and said, "Young lady, you are so beautiful that you look good in anything. Look at these pieces, they were all chosen according to your requirements. They are simple and elegant styles, which I think suit your temperament very well."
Long Chuqing took a look and found that, as she had requested, most of the styles were plain in color, but the fabric was of excellent quality silk. She selected seven sets, five with fitted sleeves and two with wide sleeves.
"These are the ones I want!" Long Chuqing said to Uncle Zhong after making her selections. "Please deliver these to Qiushui Pavilion for me. Thank you."
Uncle Zhong looked at the clothes she had chosen, then looked at Long Chuqing and said, "Miss, you can pick out a few more. There are still quite a few more!"
Long Chuqing waved her hand: "That's enough, that's enough. It'll be hard to carry if there are too many."
Uncle Zhong raised his eyelids slightly but said nothing. "In that case, I'll let the embroiderer go back first."
After saying that, he left with the embroiderer and the box.
By evening, Qiushui Pavilion had been tidied up, with beds, furniture, and decorative items set up, and some flowers and plants planted in the courtyard.
Qingying arranged for a maid and a nanny to serve her.
The maid's name was Ziguang. She was about fourteen years old and a well-behaved and lovely girl.
The old woman's surname was Lin. Perhaps because she was older, she seemed like a reliable person.
Ziguang and Granny Lin came to meet Long Chuqing and introduced themselves.
Long Chuqing was very satisfied with the two people Qingying had arranged; they didn't seem like the type to cause trouble.
She smiled and said, "Hello, my name is Long Chuqing. I hope you will take good care of me in the days to come."
"No, no, Miss, you can ask us to do anything you need," said Granny Lin.
"There is one thing, though. Could you please wash the clothes that were delivered today? That's all." Long Chuqing smiled kindly.
"You're too kind, young lady. I will certainly take care of it."
Qingying was very efficient. By noon the next day, she had prepared everything needed, except for a few hard-to-find herbs.
Qingying had originally offered to get her a medicine cabinet, but it would take a few days. After listening, Long Chu declined his offer, saying that since she wasn't going to live there long-term, there was no need to make it too nice.
"There's no need for such trouble. Just find a craftsman to build a multi-tiered shelving unit."
Following her instructions, Qingying found a carpenter in the morning to build a four-tiered shelf on the first floor.
After the medicinal herbs were delivered, Long Chuqing prepared new medicine for herself, bandaged her wounds, and got another prescription for Ziguang to decoct for her. Her internal injuries were not completely healed, and although she appeared fine, she still needed to recuperate.
After lunch, Long Chuqing, Ziguang, and Granny Lin sorted out the medicinal herbs. Long Chuqing checked the herbs, wrote the names of the herbs on the outside of the bags, and handed them to Ziguang and Granny Lin.
Following Long Chuqing's instructions, they placed the different medicines on different shelves.
By the time all the medicinal herbs were sorted out, it was already dusk. "Thank you for your hard work."
Long Chuqing glanced at the sky and realized that more than two hours had passed without her noticing.
"It's not hard work, but the young lady has a foot injury. Is it alright?" Lin Mama said as she helped Long Chuqing back to the living room.
The first floor is divided into two rooms: one is a living room for dining, and the other is a converted pharmacy.
Lin Mama helped her sit down at the table. Ziguang picked up the teapot, wanting to pour her a cup of water, but found that the tea was cold.
"Miss, the tea has gone cold. I'll go and brew a fresh pot."
Just as Zi Guang was about to leave, Long Chuqing called out to her, "Zi Guang, come back. No need to trouble yourself. I'm thirsty, so I'll have some cold tea to quench my thirst."
Zi Guangnuo returned and poured her a cup of tea, which Long Chuqing took and drank in one gulp.
Long Chuqing took the teapot, poured tea into two cups, and said, "Here, you've all been busy all afternoon, have some tea."
Ziguang and Granny Lin exchanged a glance. They were indeed thirsty. After thanking Long Chuqing, they picked up their cups.
After drinking the water, Ziguang said, "This servant will go and get a plate of snacks for the young lady," and then went out.
Seeing this, Granny Lin said to Long Chuqing, "It's almost dinnertime. I'll go to the main kitchen and see if dinner is ready."
Long Chuqing rubbed her stomach; she was really hungry now.
Half an hour later, Granny Lin and Ziguang returned with dinner and snacks.
After putting down the food, Granny Lin left, while Zi Guang stayed behind to serve. She ladled a bowl of soup and a bowl of rice for Long Chuqing, then stepped aside and stood there.
Seeing that the three dishes and soup were quite a lot, she invited Ziguang to sit down and eat with her.
Zi Guang waved her hands repeatedly, "This won't do, it's against the rules. I'll have something to eat later," she said, then timidly lowered her head.
Seeing her fearful expression, she knew that such rules existed in the mansion, and that one would be scolded if they didn't do well.
I asked her about it yesterday and learned that she hadn't been at the Prince's Mansion for long. Changing someone's fixed ideas in a short time is not an easy thing, so I stopped pressuring her and took a sip of the soup.
At that time, Long Chuqing was having dinner when Qing Tong handed her a list, saying, "I'm sorry to disturb your meal, Miss."
"Miss Long, this is what the Prince asked me to give you. Please take a look." Qing Tong said, handing a list to Long Chuqing.
She put down her chopsticks, picked it up and looked at it. It was a list of medicines, but instead of the names of the finished products, it listed what was needed.
For example: medicines for stopping bleeding, medicines for tetanus, medicines for colds and fevers, medicines for poisoning, medicines for various snake, ant and insect bites, heart-protecting medicines, etc... He wrote down a whole sheet of paper, but what shocked Long Chuqing the most was the astonishing number of medicines at the end.
Long Chuqing smirked. They really weren't being polite at all!
She flicked the paper and looked at Qing Tong: "What is he doing! This is ordering food! He's ordered the entire Manchu Han Imperial Feast, but he can't eat it all, why does he want so much?"
Qing Tong scratched his head: "The prince said that if you have any questions after reading it, you can go to him in person to ask. If there are no problems, then make it according to the requirements on the order." He couldn't explain it either! He was just following his master's orders.
Long Chuqing sighed inwardly. She regretted his demands so much. She should have known better than to agree to his request. If he had taken her three thousand taels and run away, she could have stayed out of the limelight for a while. She was filled with regret!
Seeing that she remained silent, Qing Tong asked, "If you think there's no problem, I'll go and report to the Prince."
